Unofficial Rogue Nerf Megathread + Class Discussion

Hi guys,

Following recent changes of the capture ability, how many points would you suggest investing into this ability? I have recently noticed capture is only capturing ground areas overlapping within a tiny tile where you cast the ability. So if you put 10 points into capture, you will only take full advantage of those extra points if you actually find 10 ground areas overlapping in a same tiny tile. Most of the times when figthing monsters or bosses, I end only capturing 2 or 3 ground areas at most. Do you think capture level 3 should be enough for GvG/PvP?

For the extra skill points, I’m doubting whether to invest them into evasion, lachrymator or backstab. I’m going Ro2 > Ca2, and don’t know to what extent backstab lvl 5 will be of any use for my cannonner build. Note backstab would require me to do a weapon swap everytime I use this ability. Do you think is it worth investing 5 skill points into backstab? Should I better use those points to max evasion and lachrymator?

i think popping out of burrow should have a knockdown effect on enemies.

i hava a question, does xbow’s attack affect backstab’s damage, or just dagger’s attack

Time to revive the thread.
Some things.

With the changes to Dex.
Dex can be very attractive to Rogue. Rogue has guaranteed Crit in some contexts due to all the crit bonuses that are applicable.

I wasn’t too big of a fan of Quarrel but the ability to stun for 10s while Burrowed can be pretty substantial. It’s just not Burrow friendly. You need to have your stones pre-picked, and Running shot can’t be cast in Burrow so you can get stuck just AA’ing or using a level 5 Oblique or Multi-shot. Meh.

Ranger C3 was my original build and I don’t like it so much. The Feint + Barrage is too up and personal. It was frankly beginning to feel like a bigger commitment than what I wanted to make as a Rogue.

I’ve also done a STR arch C3 Wugu C1. It’s pretty charming. Zhendu scales with STR now so it is a tad better and poisons overall.

I want to get
Arch C3 - Ranger C1 and Arch C3 - Scout attempted before the 30th.

I’m surprised that this thread was atempted to be revived this late…

I tried many stat allocations… I kept the full STR one cause "moar powah"
DEX seems atractive but at the end its the same dmg output or maybe less considering the accuracy

Crit attack was heavily nerfed in the fact that crits are no longer common (not for a rogue as this is the bread’n’butter) but the fact that karacha combo was nerfed too to 150% and it seems that the hidden mechanic of crit attack scaling was nerfed too, as with 2.5k crit attack I was hitting 120k~ (60k~+60k~) before patch with backstab lvl 5 65% attribute and karcha dagger +5 trans 1 on leather armor… now I hit for 80k~ (40k~+40k~) with almost the same settup other than +9 karacha dagger and trans 2 with 1.7k crit attack (before enhancing it was like 30k~ dmg (15k~+15k~))… at least backstab has higher dmg with more physical attack than with crit attack.

To conclude, I think that STR still benefits Rogue more than DEX does, given the fact that every endgame class scales too well with physical attack that it overshadows the dmg output of crit attack

in my tests, with the karacha combo, when backstab crits in the back.
at lvl180 +/-
full dex was 20.000 (10k, 10k)
full str was 25.000 (12.5k 12.5k)
I know, low level, but the fact is that i have crit attack gems on my weapon, soo i was expecting more damage with dex, but no… Str is the way to go. (too bad i lost the attack speed of dex).

I’d suggest not underestimating the APSD to backstab, mine’s hella fast with 200ish DEX, i can do double backstab before target turns back after a Cavalry Charge.

Thinking long-run stuff here: wouldn’t Dex be better for rogues as the game progresses? I’ve read quite a bit about how the importance/significance of str wears off the higher your level/equipment gets, because less import is put on str the higher your weapon attack gets. Won’t there be a threshold in which Dex begins to outshine Str? Especially considering how easy it is for Rogues to land crits. :open_mouth:
