Unofficial Rogue Nerf Megathread + Class Discussion

I just read the first 20 answers…

You have to take in count Fletcher C1 them Rogue C2, flechter bleeding makes vendetta deals doble damage, and backstab applies massive bleeding to bleeding targets, that damage is insane even if backstab damage isn’t enough good. Anyway I think the correct use o Ranger C1, Hunter C1, Scout C1, Fletcher C1, Rogue C2, and Hunter C2 (when rank 8 comes out), is the most effective PvP Build ever…

Wow, worst advice ever. Give up your R7 class just to get bleeding so you can boost the worst damage skill in the game.

DO NOT waste any points in vendetta or backstab. They are absolutely terrible.

Backstab is good, what is bad is the Massive Bleeding Atribute

Vendetta yes, Backstab can be made good. It was insanely overpowered in kCBT (x2 30k+ crits, 1 overheat, same 10s cooldown)

They nerfed backstab pretty hard. This is a full str build and she cant even do 26k damage per backstab.

Barrage combo do way more damage as you can see in the video…

22k+22k Backstab against leather(mole). Seems like we have the same Lv50 Attribute on Backstab lol I also do 22k+22k against leather bosses, still underwhelming with all the investments.

I’m almost reaching Rank7 on my new character and I’ll finally be able to do the Feint+Barrage combo. Currently Lv50 Barrage but managed to sell a Petamion Recipe(thanks to my Rogue C3 doing boss rush) lately, will pump all silvers to Barrage Enhance.

P.S. I wonder if this nerf is just new. My friend from KR would definitely not lie about Rogues there doing 99k+99k. It’s been a while since he last played though so Backstab might’ve gotten a nerf just recently.

This videos from that uploader are all recent, so yes, that was a ninja nerf.

Whats ur new char?

Archer > Ranger > Archer C2 > Scout C3 > Rogue C1

I don’t want to give up Earth Tower potential just for good bossing builds like the video you shared thus I went Scout C3.

Currently, my Split Arrow attribute is at Lv50 so it’s modifier is currently 300% on each splitting arrow. This technically makes my Split Arrow a 2-way Running Shot, just abit stronger because of the big fixed damage from Lv5 Split Arrow but slower attack speed. Still, it can eventually reach Lv100 for 400% splitting arrow damage.

Reason for Rogue C1 should be obvious. My stats leans more towards STR than DEX, 2:1 distribution so I’ll benefit alot from Sneak Hit. Capture lets me capture my Lv15 Flare Shot which is really the source of my high sustained DPS within it’s duration. Finally, Feint for the Feint+Barrage combo.

This was my original planned build before but I got tempted by Running Shot. In the end, I also thought that Running Shot will be obsolete because you can’t improve it’s damage and it’s final saving grace is Didel Grand Cross which can be really hard to get.

Edit: There goes my silvers

How does Feint back rolling attribute work on players in PvP? Are players locked in place after back rolling so you can actually hit them from the back, or will they just face you back upon receiving a simple move command?

no lol ive tested feint it only works split second, and already can turn back to facing you, maybe thats the reason immediate barrage after feint get hits 10 times, because enemies is facing you in the progress so more place to hit, because when i tried sneak hit to plant monster they design the monster like square targets the back the side and front, hits from back are affected by sneak hit while a little to side but still " back " from our point of view is considered another area maybe another defense ratio not sure about this but its very complex

Got to Rank 7 earlier. I can kill 3 Red Truffles in just one Feint+Barrage combo. While Backstab can pretty much do the same thing, it’s only single target and unreliable with joint penalty as it still checks mobs individually if it’s facing against you for the high damage multiplier.

I’m not sure what’s happening but I can rarely capture my own or other people’s spell. It wasn’t like this on my Rogue C3, this is really problematic. Is it because of the server lag? Since the server lag literally gimps some skills like Multi-Shot.

Edit: Figured out that I forgot to learn Capture’s Attribute.

While it’s stupid that barrage is better than backstab, don’t you think it’s more because barrage is unbalanced(op in this case) instead of backstab being ■■■■?

I think needing 2 different classes with synergy to produce more damage is something common in this game though.

Just think about Pyro/Cryo + Psychokino. You won’t see people ranting about how unbalanced Fireball/Icewall + Psychic Pressure is since it did require 2 different classes (2 Rank Slots). So considering that fact, I think Feint+Barrage is fine, nothing imbalanced.

Oh and have you seen Multi-Shot+Circling yet? Apparently, not only it makes the enemy have 0 aoe defense ratio but also makes Multi-Shot have ALOT bigger AOE than it’s default. And yes, with 0 AOE attack ratio, your Multi-Shot can still hit alot of enemies within Circling’s AOE.

Barrage is completely a broken AOE too with Circling. I usually only hit a few Truffle using Barrage but you’d be surprised how much numbers pops out when the mobs are debuffed by Circling and I used Barrage. I’m actually thinking of getting Falconer for Rank 8 if there’s nothing better lol

But circling makes anything hit like crazy, can be resisted, you need to take an otherwise awful class, etc…

While Ranger even after the steady aim nerf, is still a solid class.

Personally, I do think Ranger C1 is way too good. Barrage itself is already 500% per cast, it’s AOE and has 3 charges with a relatively short cooldown. Steady Aim is a nice bonus for maximizing the damage of any burst setup.

It’s nothing surprising though? There are other Rank 1 classes that can really be powerful.

So just to make sure, the crit-chance of Sneak-Hit is not dependant on your actual crit-rate stat, hence why you wouldn’t need dex at all for tons of crits, right?

Why is there a + in front of it then though? Or how exactly is it applied?

LOOOOOOL

what’s the misleading description from Burrow skill ?
isnt it’s only increased skill critical rate not chance ? so it sounds rl useless with STR build

Hello,

First hand experience Rogue C3 user here. My build is A2 > QS > Scout > Rogue C3. PVP focused build. Before all, I would like to say it’s really a tough road leveling up to Rank 7. Why?

You will be forever single target. The only AoE you have is Flare Shot, which has the AoE as big as one pixel of healing tiles. Any mobfest will kill you. You are not owning at bossing either. Prior to Rank 6, it’s hell.

Life doesn’t automatically come easy after obtaining your ultimate skill - Backstab. You can only deal massive damage after obtaining Karacha set. Without Karacha set, you’re totally useless. And to obtain Karacha set, you will need to win world boss in DPS race against Fletchers and etc and to win DPS you will need a Karacha set which is literally an endless cycle with nowhere to get in. I’ve suffered much not only in leveling, as well as obtaining a Karacha set. Don’t even bother thinking of going World Boss (unless you have a party to carry your way up) it is just a completely waste of time even if the boss drops what you want. The only way to obtain the set is to farm something else and buy it, and Rogue is really sad in farming.

Now, I’ve obtained Karacha set after 2 weeks of tough luck. Am I owning in PVP? Answer is NO. Don’t bother thinking about hitting someone from behind unless that person is extremely noob. You will miss 99% of the time on a moving target, or even if it hit, it’s not a full backstab (meaning the 3x damage doesn’t get triggered). The range of the skill, is also miserable. If you’re thinking of making a Rogue for instakill, forget about it. I needed Stone Shot to lock down my target before I actually move up to lay a proper backstab. Sometimes it requires a few shot. In 5v5 battle, you would probably be already dead after revealing yourself for 5 seconds because we are just squishy in nature. Honestly speaking, I could get easier kill by just spamming Stone Shot and knockback the target till wall, then just drop a Flare Shot on it and continue chaining.

What about bossing DPS? Oh yes, you can probably dish out some decent DPS. But have you forgotten about your very own low HP and low defense? Being melee put yourself into a higher risk of getting hit by boss. And if it’s a magic boss, you’re gone. Not to mention that Karacha set are at the expense of your Evasion, meaning you have more chance of taking damage. If you stay ranged, your DPS is really sad. Just plain sadness. At world boss, bosses will always move around as well, or there will always be a Psychokino to swap location with the boss. You will waste more time in relocating yourself to the back of the boss than DPS-ing.

Now, let’s get into the topic. We are talking about backstab damage being nerfed and overly relying on a certain set of gear. Frankly, that’s fine. From 70k nerfed to 50k, that’s still alot. Quite acceptable in my honest opinion, you don’t need that much to one hit someone either. However the problem does not lie with how much damage you hit with your backstab. It’s whether can you even land a proper backstab. It hits a single target (not even AoE like warrior’s normal attack) and the range is really poor. Secondly, you only have like 45 angle hitting from behind the boss to be considered as a backstab. Any other angle, is not a valid backstab and will not trigger the bonus.

So rather than buffing the damage, it would be better if anything coming from 180 degree of the target from the back would trigger the backstab bonus i e hitting from rear also consider as backstabbing, instead of just a pathetic 45 degree. Or, increase the range of backstab slightly rather than it being a point-blank skill (one box distance is good enough already).

The future of Rogue focused built character is also very doubting. Currently we are at 280 cap, using a lvl 170 set still fare well against those using higher level gears. However, will they even release a set of similar or improvised effect as Karacha in future content? Nobody knows…

Lastly I would like to talk about Rogue synergy, as well as what I have mistakenly understood for. I EVENTUALLY THOUGHT that massive bleeding triggers when you Crit, and massive bleeding / bleeding will both trigger Vendetta effect. That’s completely wrong. This job’s active skill have 0 synergy other than the critical rate. Rogue does not have a built-in mechanic to inflict Bleeding effect, while all its skills are made around Bleeding effect. That’s just completely absurd. The only way to inflict bleeding is Deploy Pavise, which is not practical at all, or going for Fletcher for Poison Arrow, where you would waste one rank taking a class with only one purpose that you need for.

To trigger Massive Bleeding from Backstab, the target must be first inflicted with Bleeding status and your Backstab have to crit. And Massive Bleeding does not trigger Vendetta’s double damage effect, only Bleeding. But you have no practical way of inflicting Bleeding. Now you see? It’s like in a Solitaire where you have obtained A, 2, 4 to K but missing a number 3 card in between.

Moreover, Massive Bleeding is at the expense of doubling the cooldown of your Backstab. Is it really worth going through the effort just to trigger that effect? Another big NO. With Karacha Set bonus, doing 2 more backstabs definitely outweight the Massive Bleeding effect.

Now, let’s talk about Vendetta. This skill is completely useless if you do not plan to max it out at Level 15. Why you need a skill that takes 2.5 seconds of charge time just to deal a miserably 5k damage crit on a single target? Archer C3 Multishot could do better damage, has overheat, and shorter cooldown. You might argue that if it kills the target, it gives a good buff, which is decent in PvE. But the main issue is, do you even PvE well? Most Rogue are PvP or Bossing focused. Please tell me what kind of AoE skill that you have other than Flare Shot to really utilise that STR Bonus in PvE unless you are a Ranger built Rogue. Not to mention the buff is also completely impractical when it comes to Bossing / PVP. If it’s something like a multishot where you can throw all your skill points in at early stage of the game, that’s a different story. But is it really worth your 15 skill points at Rank 5-7?

The only way to make this useful is to make the Massive Bleeding trigger at critical, removing the criteria of the target must be first inflicted with Bleeding effect. Secondly, Vendetta’s bonus should work on Massive Bleeding.

And everything else should work fine…

Besides that, Rogue is really a very fun and versatile class to play. It depends mainly on how good a player react to different situation and act differently, provides alot of flexibility.

Hereby I have spoken out all the major problems I’m facing with the class’ intended purpose (note that I’m not even asking to give Rogue AoE skills and stuff). And also the solution to fix the problem with Rogue.

I would be really happy if my opinion is heard and these changes are implemented to fix the class, as I really enjoy playing this class.

i agree with most things you said. especially with the bleeding problem and its missing class sinergy.

regarding the karacha scaling:
once they fix the weapon switch lag (oh god, i hope they will) i might go for a good endgame bow for normal skills and have the karacha on the second slot just for backstab.

They should give rogues a free reskill potion so we can all remove backstab and get the 5 points back.
