I called you out and I’m right. But get all sour. I don’t care! Bye
The game really has no future when the playerbase bother responding seriously to grade D bait like this thread.
That troll got fat quickly.
…what if you deemed this game superior to other games, for exactly all the CON points the TS made, excluding 1 and 2 ?
(that would be me. i love all those sweet con points. all of them exept 1 and 2. all great games must have them. )
I feel bad for you man. You made some great points, but all the white knights that defend the game to no end will be playing an empty game soon, they’re just too ignorant to see it. I mean, at least IMC has these die hard zombies, it will keep the game alive for a weebit longer, but not as long as the game wouldve lasted had they not been there from the start.
Obvious bait but seeing as you played for so long you must have enjoyed the game a bit. The game is not perfect but it hasn’t been out for long even in korea.
No game is perfect straight away and IMC seem to be putting in a lot of effort to service whingers like OP.
Am I a white knight? No I believe some of your points are valid but sadly your attitude sucks and makes your argument void.
Good luck with your next game.
if it is what you say it is. then why are you still on the forums? why not just leave and move on?
stop trolling please.
Botting is a problem, but right now you’ll be hard pressed to find a game with a huge population with 0 botters. The key is making it so the players arent hampered much. If spawns are fine, if trading is unlimited, players wont feel these bots are there except for the annoying RMT shouters.
Current max level is only around 60% of the real max. This is not end game. Join a guild and you’ll get a taste of it.
You mentioned Ragnarok, but don’t you know that in RO only weapons (only after some updates) and Headgears are the only things whose visuals change when worn?
As an archer class I seriously doubt you just stood there and spammed your skill rotation.[quote=“ryanterry92, post:1, topic:243136”]
8) World bosses - World bossing is one of the core end-game contents. You can technically start hunting them at 170+ or even earlier but in a competitive server like mine, you get nowhere if you’re not in one of the 6 parties filled with 250 lvl + players. If you’re not a high damage burst build then the lag would pretty much render you irrelevant. It doesn’t matter if you have high single target dps, you need those dps to come in quick bursts from a few skills. Even if your party can reliably down these bosses and be in top 6 dps to get the cube, the whole experience feels like a nightmare due to the lagfest.

Wait, you complain about the game being too “casual” yet you cringe at how hard it is to get boss drops? Heck some games only the Killing party gets the loots, and only max players (geared at that) will be able to beat them.
Im an RO player, but “wonderful art design” isnt something you would describe Ragnarok. The gameplay esp WOE is awesome and unmatched elsewhere, but art design isnt.
I agree with most of what you’ve said.
I don’t think it’s a trash game, though. I think IMC just isn’t able to bring out the potential.
Bosses could be awesome in this game, character development could be a lot better (it’s all pretty cookie cutter now, it’s hard to create a unique build), weapons should get better looking.
I believe things will get better at 300+, this ain’t really the endgame right now, we’re like in the middle.
Do you know those big entrances that have no use right now?
I think I’ve run into like, 3 or 4 of them, surely they are meant for something.
Basically, I think ToS has a potential to be a decent game, but IMC needs to step up their game with the content.
Lagged. Double posted.
Pretty much all f2p mmos suffer from botters and gold seller, But I do agree with number 3, the optimization is a joke.
Oh yes ! The big entrances !
I wonder if they’ll ever lead anywhere…
I bet he isnt even near 280 lulz
OP hasn’t posted since, proof he was just pretending to be retarded.
There are more quests in KTOS we just haven’t gotten them yet.
The whole Dinas farm thing will be a thing of the past.
i just waste my time take OP bait. that cost me 2 level of my fletcher c1
There is nothing new under the sun. One of the first Second Generation MMORPGS, Anarchy Online released in June 2001 was also crippled with heavy technical problems at launch, due to a higher than expected playerbase.
Similar to ToS, Final fantasy XIV in 2010 also received harsh criticism at launch because it “wasn’t ready” for launch, with so many critical bugs that it received around 30/100. I still remember how bad it was, but some time later, they did come around and they fixed many of the initial issues. It’s a matter of trust. The following comparisons are not meant to address the problems of course, or even constitute an argument, but rather to illustrate how unsurprising all these problems are, and why IMC is not an exception to the rule.
WoW in 2004 also received unsurprisingly identical criticism as the launch failed to take into account many factors that they could not have, unless it happened. Random disconnections, queues, latency issues, weird bugs, offline time (20 servers offline on a Holiday). Quoting from the website (source below) that is mentioned as having taken off WoW’s game of the year award: “Every week, there is some new calamity that necessitates some huge response on their part, servers are coming down, but if you think that the servers coming back up again will represent an improvement in the basic functionality of the game you’re mistaken.” But then, the company went on to learn about their mistakes, as any of us do, and in this particular case they became extremely successful: “Blizzard seemed to learn its lesson quickly, and the game was much more stable as it saw extreme subscriber growth through 2005 and beyond. It went on to become the world’s most popular MMO by a good margin for years to come. But to those who were there at the troubled start, those lofty heights seemed like a long, long way away.”
Granted, they’re different games and technical launch issues aren’t the only problem. For instance, you’re right about the FPS optimization, and a number of other points concerning design, but to me it does not justify the way you carry on to express them here. IMO if you want to be taken seriously, write seriously.
Concerning enjoyment, the major fun drive of MMOs as opposed to much more elaborate experiences lived in single player games, is the social element, and especially the competition element. Grinding is not going to be the reason you will be logging in, but challenges and competition will be. Read: http://www-users.cs.umn.edu/~bstanton/pdf/p1-vorderer.pdf and Klimmt, Hartmann & Frey (2007). Control over the game also plays a complex role, and as counterintuitive as it sounds, it’s possible that you perceive lower enjoyment while still enjoying it. My own little data over a survey I’ve conducted in these forums suggests that people are indeed enjoying the game not for grinding but for other reasons, and that other psychological symptoms influence how they project whether they intend to play in the future or if they report enjoying the game.
It’s just a video game. MMOs are expected to evolve with the players over several years. It’s not a “thrash game”, and the objective proof is that many players are genuinely enjoying it. If you’re not satisfied with it, you have the right to vent but you should not expect the developers to be surprised as they understand the situation better. Yes, they committed a “planning fallacy” like many other companies, or they simply preferred to release the game ahead of the time here because of the fans, yet they have listened so far. Developers are real people too, so you can safely expect them to make adjustments if they are interested in maintaining the game alive.

You are trying oh so very hard to justify incompetence of a game developer that took at least six years to release a piece of trash.
Your argument that this game is in any way competitive is laughable. You must be the type of person who gets ladder anxiety playing hearthstone if you think there’s any competitive element in this game. Also, why bother linking a shitty study that’s behind a paywall? What idiot would pay money for a study that explains why people enjoy playing video games?
You even felt the need to link a study on planning fallacy? If you’re a psychology undergrad I hope your education was funded on a scholarship since you’re studying a worthless social science. You really needed to conduct that comprehensive of a study to find out that people tend to overestimate their abilities? Ffs dude, switch majors now if you haven’t graduated already. One of the best decisions of my life was to sit in on psych 101 before bidding for the module. What a crock of ■■■■ the whole field is.
And meanwhile you are writing this thread, people are enjoying what you don’t.
Nice effort for that wall of text tho.
True in most points
Well at some point this game makes still a little bit of fun…
but i really dont know why becasue by any logic i didN’t played a worse mmo so far xD
But maybe to be fair i didN’t played a lot free mmos. Right now i can’t remember even one oO
Ok i remembered tera and BnS xD
Regardless of what you think of the OP’s lack of tact, the game is failing miserably in Korea for a reason.
