Tree Of Savior Review (Level 280), TL;DR Trash game

I couldn’t agree more with OP. This game was such a huge let down. The only thing it really did do is make me want to play RO again, in fact I started decking out my Genetic to return to it. At least that has some exciting gameplay. The depth in a 15 year old game in the status builds alone is more than the entirety of Tree of Savior.

Funny enough I saw a post on reddit about someone moving from ToS to RO. It might actually encourage people to move in that direction oddly enough.

Anyways ToS is pretty garbage in the current state, that’s the bottom line. It’s a bore and all the “potential” in the world won’t save it until it actually reaches that point.

Please, don’t do that to yourself

That being said, some weeks ago I DLed a client in order to remake a juperos-stuffed sin and showcase how I’d like ToS mobbing to be.
Though I ended thinking “why the hassle ?” and finally did nothing.

Even at 280, you’re still a player on the server. If you wanted to generate some income, chances are the market values of those items you’re farming to sell were impacted in some manner by Botting and RMTing. Sure it’s not the same level of impact as say players trying to level up through zones that have a high bot population, but it still exists.

I concede that I cannot say with absolute certainty that you didn’t find some core load shifting tweaks and client-end optimizations that had a measurable increase in your performance. However within the realm of reason, given what I’ve seen(anecdote vs. anecdote  ), I don’t believe anybody could possibly justify how this game runs right now. The regular outcry of frustration on this subject is quite indicative of that.

Sincerely, a worthless bean bag.

im playing this game with some friends, like too much, but all op said is true… this game will die soon if IMC dont change a lot of things.

tl;Dr: still too early to judge the game, give it some time to change and grow.

I find it rather amusing that you are expecting TOS to be a MMO with a lot of depth.

I do agree with some of the points you made but I don’t think they ever advertised the game as challenging or having any new game mechanics.

People are drawn to this game for the nostalgia and the graphic style. you feel sorry for the people that like and enjoy the game but I feel sorry for people that have over the top expectations for an anime style mmo.

Games been out for a couple months, and who knows what they will add or how they will opmize the game to enhance the experience a bit. the target goal is lvl 600, and it will never get there if you guys don’t give it a chance.

Truth is, TOS is the type of game that you play when you want to take a break from more serious and competitive MMOs. Look at RO for example, 100% casual until they introduced WoE, then you start to see strategy in builds and people building true pvp characters. Just give it more time, way too early to judge the game.

How could you guys go for obvious bait like this? 24h maint boredom?

Well, the game is badly optimized? Sure. That’s a valid point, I can run Witcher 3 smoothly at 60 fps, in this game i get fps drops to 0 everytime. They should fix this ASAP, otherwise alot of people will quit.

Hmm, monotonous gameplay… I don’t agree with this, the game maybe monotonous to a few classes like yours. Following your logic, RO was monotonous as well.

You didn’t play alot of mmos lately, did you? ahahahaha every game has THOUSANDS of bots and gold sellers. That’s inevitable. It’s sad but true. They are a plague and will keep existing, until those little wallet whale kids stop buying gold from them.

What did you expect? This game is far from finished. There’s no endgame content, tbh. They rushed the release, because of kids like you who wanted to play RO nostalgia again.

TL;DR
If the devs don’t release enough content to keep people entertained or they don’t fix the optimization/other issues, just QUIT the game. Simple. Without players they can’t make money, without money they will have to close the game. Their loss > Our loss. I’m just thinking of a business perspective.

“Give it some time”
Said since the beginning of the project.

This game has been developing for years and years and had a release in Korea before it ever was released here. It’s trash there and it’s trash here. The audience it was developed for has already flocked away. There will be gameplay elements flawed due to latency because of their dependency on a small region’s high speed connection.

The monster’s AIs are pitiful, mind you there is such thing as boss rushes where you just walk to the end or walk amongst a group and kill a single monster here and there and walah.

Optimization won’t be here anytime soon if ever. And don’t even start with their war on RMT, it’s caused such a loss of immersion and community that they can’t recover from with anything less than swallowing their pride. Look at their bandaid remedies (lvl 40 megaphone usage) and yet shout chat is still spammed. You’d think with such few Servers and a global chat and consistent spam they’d have a spree of easy bans and IP blocks. Yet their bandaid methods prove to be just that, temporary. Just like this game’s life expectancy.

Lets stop pretending this game was rushed out for fans. It has been in development since November of 2009 and has been fully release in Korea for months now.

Oh did we forget, is this the 2nd or 3rd 24 hour maintenance they’ve had already? What a joke lol. Wasn’t there a 8 hour maintenance the other day for the same transfer purposes? What did they do in the first 24 hours?

I’ve lost count of the terrible display of maintenance, extensions, and early server shut downs to care.

I want a waifu pillow now.

I think I agree with most points.
I feel that the maps are beautiful, but aren’t really memorable. As someone mentioned, some are nearly empty and you pass through them.

The gameplay could use more depth. Compared to RO MVP’s or even farming Soft Feathers, there is some aspect of strategic combat, rather than tank and spank.
Compared to another game I play, the boss fights have additional tasks throughout the fight that make it interesting and require a party; boss spawns clones that need to be killed, or spams a one-hit-kill skill when he’s closer to death, or has unblock-able attacks, etc.
I know people will disagree, and maybe say something like “lel RO ez mode just make TKM” /shrug at least RO has combat challenges available; you still need to build your TKM properly. This game is closer to pure tank and spank.

Every single problem you listed is noticeable well before level 280, and yet you kept playing anyway. What does that say about you?

You’re either a bad troll or a hypocrite. I can’t decide which, and frankly don’t care. Grats on spending hundreds of hours playing a game you think sucks.

I agree with the fps issue, especially about this problem: Lag death in Instance " A Drowsy Scent ", Veitas Gorge Quest | Bomb Upents & Kill Banshees

It’s make many people impossible to solve that quest, but still no fix until now.

Hey Ryan no disrespect you have some valid points from your thread, but if you want these guys to shut up you really need to post some videos. I’m actually very interested in watching, coming form another fletcher here =)

@nojustnotos
Who are the hypocrites here?

White Knights, they complain if this game has negative reviews with little time in gameplay.

They complain if the reviewer had maximum exposure and attained max level.

Review is nullified either way. Give me a fcking break. Game sucks no matter how much you play it, reviews reflect it.

Edit:
If having both responses isn’t white knighting I don’t know what is

OP. Lists 4 problems easily observable before level 100. Keeps playing until 280. Hypocrite plain and simple.

This isn’t a review of any kind. It’s a troll post looking to pick fights with people who enjoy the game. Look at the edit, it couldn’t be more obvious.

You know what I do when I play a game that I think sucks? I stop playing it. I don’t post on the forums. I don’t troll people who enjoy the game. I certainly don’t take the time to reach max level. I uninstall and move on.

You and OP are either liars, hypocrites, or trolls. Probably a combination of all 3.

Who here remembers how much content was in RO on its ‘release’? Also who here remembers how ‘challenging’ it was?

All there was to do in RO on ‘release’ was to MVP hunt, and go into PVP rooms. That was it.

ToS, on its early-access, has worlds more in content than its inspiration. If you think RO was optimized at that time then I have a bridge I would like to sell you.

Le bait is preety good.

Has anyone ever praised this game for its mob variety? Doubt so
