Tos Neet Polls! Keep Tos Neet Alive!(Vote here)

I’m surprised people are willing to pay for a simple feature that some other games offer for free since they benefit the game. I’m also surprised to find out the site isn’t automated with patches.

I enjoy the tool though, hope they decide to keep it going.

Not too many games offer a free wiki ran by the devs/company themselves.

Even Dotards 2 and League of Lesbi*ns are run by 3rd party companies.

FFXIV, WOW, Destiny are three I can name off the top of my head, I recall Ragnarok Online having one too a while back when Gravity cared but I could be wrong, its been so long. League of Legends and Dota makes sense though since they’re not mmorpgs (was mostly just referring to mmo’s).

Which are both free to use and make revenue from ads.

The wikis for the 3 you just named are all run by 3rd parties.

Google search for all of them has no official wiki on the first page.

The issue with 3rd party companies running them is that they are not always fully updated. Someone has to rip the databases and dump the data. Xanax’s idea of an API won’t help with a wiki (You…generally don’t run a Wiki off an API, or at all.)

Edit: As a side note, there have been issues (and under table fights) when a community wishes to move a wiki hosted on one of the ‘free’ providers (wik*a) to another. Its one of the problems when dealing with 3rd party ‘free’ hosters.

I give much props to Grita for running tos.neet without ads, and wishes him/her all the best.

FFXIV have the Lodestone and WoW have the Armory officially where you can look up items(for the current version). Granted, even if these games offers a way to look at the database(very limited, so), people still use stuff like MMO-Champ/WoWhead or XIVdb/garlond/xivclock anyway, because features matter. Ragnarok Online also perhaps had an item database like the aforementioned(til 2007, I didn’t play after that)… but like them, there was no drop rates publicly in it or anything else beyond “these items exist”.

That’s the thing with IMC here as well, even if they published a database, if it wouldn’t have a talent calculator, people wouldn’t care as much for it. For WoW, XIV and RO if one want/wanted to run simulations or go more in detail, they have to go to a third party. If iTOS also didn’t serve the latest juicy from kTOS, they would care even less about it. Valkoria probably forgot that no company offers something as tos.neet does, and very rarely do, and if IMC did, it’d /actually/ would be out of the norm.

Yeah, I excluded those because they aren’t exactly a ‘wiki’, just a ‘these items exist’ list, as you said. No quest info etc as well beyond quest names.

Honestly I think this is kinda unfair. You say we must respect her decision but creates this to put pressure on him/her. Grita already made her decision, if you really respect it just move on.

And yes, I use tos.neet constantly. I think this topic should be to create a new site in a community effort. You could also contact Grita to see if he/she is willing to share the database, but I imagine someone already tried this.

Made a generic calculator for Enhancement and Transcendence values in the hope it can be useful in the meantime:

I don’t have time right now to add Velcoffer (not on tos.neet) and other lower level items (too many *1.5 and *1.7 adjustments needed), I’ll try add the most common presets later, or you can do it if you got some spare time.

You can use the “-” preset to add custom values for Velcoffer and other items for now.

Make a copy of the spreadsheet if you want to avoid concurrent usage.

Also, I got the enhancement formulas from tos.neet and adjusted based on the announcements instead of getting them from the game’s current state. The result should be the same and it matches for most things, if you find inconsistencies let me know.

who gives a fk whether it’s fair or not.

Make it open source. Done. Problem solved.

I would just like to add that we, at IMC, were very sad to hear that Based Grita had discontinued his/her work TOS Neet. I wanted to let you all know that IMC is currently trying to get in touch with Based Grita just to chat about his/her work. We are not sure whether we will be able to get a hold of him/her in the future but we are hoping for the best!

So, we all going back to tosbase?

Lets pray for grita, btw why imc don’t try to continue her work as an oficial “content” from the webpage or make oficial apps for android (Mobile in general) to get a practical skill simulator or something to help our community o3o btw i’m pretty sad that we prolly loose that tools uwu

Exactly. Given how it is STILL easy to screw a build up and how adamant IMC is at NOT giving resets when it counts, we urgently need these tools to be official.

Hey, nice to see that IMC cares about that kind of stuff.

I hope something good will come from this :distinguished:

And yeah an official Database as functional as Grita’s would be so good.

You guys are pathetic. TOSGBASE is a datamined site of your game, so you guys should be able to reproduce something like tosgbase yourself??

Publishing drop rates, game textures, 3D models, NPC locations, etc. on your own hosted site with a just as complete database, with scripts that could be automated for every patch, would cost IMC more time and money than on budget? So you have to beg someone who’s done with the game for help? Or are you just being lazy?

Because the game is FULL OF INCONSISTENCY throughout release, you’re hard relying on a fansite to help explain your game you can’t explain well yourself? tosgbase has been used to guide us countless amounts of times to help track event NPCs or such that hasn’t been explained to us clearly in the first place?

You don’t even translate full patch notes to us, and expect us to be satisfied. You guys even expect us to fix your game for you. Countless class-breaking bugs go by for months without fix. That silence allows us to easily accept that any bug/exploit not fixed is a mechanic.

If you actually want an IMCbase that’s not IMC-affiliated then you could literally just have 1 dude on your team make the same site with your own scripts anonymously, and nobody would be able to tell the difference.

Not every player has full stack developer carreers neither have programming knowledge to datamine and run a web app.

Not every game has a full database managed by the developers. In fact, the ones that come from playerbase are better (simply compare the official class rank builder and tos neet one). We can always return to the same blame that everything always come back, that is blame the creators as incompetent people. That doesn’t change the scenario that they normally doesn’t have the best database for their game (even though they certainly have more easy access to do it)

If you have such knowledge and time, please do what you said. If you don’t, do not come to the forum to blame other players. I am sure that most of the people here that are trying to reach Grita don’t even know where to start a similar project

To be honest here, doesn’t sound like they plan to publish drop rates and hidden info. We already saw in previous STAFF posts that they’re not allowed to disclose information that can be considered as spoilers.

Sounds more like a budget + decision + maintenance issue rather than initial implementation. In a sense of, uh, becoming part of their development cycle + time spent + cost and etc.

Altho you’re really right on the other points. Hidden NPCs and patches notes are just…

Up.Up.Up.Up.Up.Up.Up.Up.Up.

Any news? @STAFF_Bob
