TOS can't be epic with cooldown system!

1 button mashing = best gameplay ever!!!

pfft i go play tetris instead

Thats interesting. In this term, it will fits well the concept of fatigue.
Thanks for the info. :+1:

In Ragnarok Online, no skills was epic, some skills had few after cast delay too, like 5sec CD. But no CD = no Epic ultimates skills.
In TOS, some skills will be Epic like Chronomancer Time Stop, Roll Back In Past ! This skills need to have a long CD system to be balanced, and have to be instant. (Yes a roll back with 30sec cast is just useless in pvp lol)
So TOS will be epic, thanks CD System. =)

The idea of cd on skills and pots seems pretty good, since I hated the no cd on previous RO (seems that i dont have enough fingers lol)

Also scripts and bots were really annoying

Nah. Cool downs are fine.

I think the cooldown system is great here.
It adds a level of difficulty and complexity to the game, which it wouldn’t have if it was just “SPAM UNTIL ALL YOUR SP RUNS OUT, AND THEN SPAM SP RECOVERY POTIONS”.
That doesn’t require skill. Or timing. Or anything, really…
Sure, cooldowns don’t add that much difficulty, but it’s still interesting, strategy wise.
And I like it. I mean, if all I had to do to win at ToS is pushing the same button over and over again and spamming the same skills, it would get boring after a while. At least, this requires me to pay attention, and not just point at an enemy and smash F1.
I really think that if they removed cooldowns, the game would be really unbalanced. Cooldowns are great. And if there wasn’t so much cooldown, this would become the scenario in which the player just spams the strongest skill of their class until they level up, and then use sp recovery potions.
If that’s someone else’s idea of fun, well, that’s okay, but…it just sounds like a skinnerbox to me.

we shall see how the latest beta test goes

Actually it does, pvp wise, you’ll have to look carefully what skill your enemy used, what he might still have up, whereas with the spamfest there is no strategy, faster reactions/internet wins.

As it has been said, many times, Cooldowns are MUCH easier to balance than a variable cast time …

Oh! But that topic keeps on and on and on and on and on and on… :hushed:

Having cool down is for strategy so you wont keep spamming the same skill over and over again, and you need to be very mindful when you will use a specific skill because of it not just spamming like a mindless monkey.

For example Extrimity fist which can 1 hit almost everybody so if you didn’t 1hit the character you just cast it again which is OP specially the EDP + Sonic Blow which is super OP and you can spam it until the enemy dies.

I think that, if you add a Cast Time and no Cooldown, you are going to make the same old gameplay style that is not working.

The was not released yet, and I liked very much what this system can offer. We just need to wait and see any changes that could benefit from this style and hope it is well used.

Oh so this is the guy who necroed the dumb thread.

The system works fine and the only people bitching about it are people who haven’t even played the game, or just looking at the cooldown with no context of anything else.

I pretty much just agree with what Gir said, skill spamming is completed dated and not a fun method of gaming. Having cooldowns that aren’t short 10~15 seconds on skills helps make you… actually use more than two~three skills. Thus it makes the game more entertaining as you’d have different combinations of skills to use while another set is on cooldown.
