Too much knockback / knockdown / etc

Hello,

I’m playing a swordsman lv 140+ and as a melee character (I don’t know about other so feel free to tell me how it is for non melee), I get CC (KD, KB, Freeze, Sleep, …) All the time.

When I’m tanking a boss for the party (and god knows I hate tanking) I get sometimes people saying: “Wow tank, you should damage too”.

Note that most of the time, this come from a ranged character.

Of course I want to damage the boss ! I have Pain barrier to stop getting CC all the time (freeze, sleep and slow are not prevented by Pain barrier).

But it’s 39sec CD and mine doesn’t last for 39sec.
And on some boss, if I lower my shield for half a second I’m sent flying across the map.

Since you can be sent flying WHILE you are on the floor recovering from your last fly, you can basically fly for a good 10sec without being able to do anything.
(I.E the gorilla boss in the Siaulai Mission in the last room, god this one make you fly)

Anyway, this game is kinda unfair for melee character since bosses have VERY HEAVY CC if you get close to them.

A little rework on Pain Barrier would be nice or a passive resist to some type of CC for the swordsman class at least (because we are most likely to tank)

Maybe I’m missing Something somewhere and that’s why I get sent flying. If so just tell me what I am doing wrong :3

EDIT: The fact that I have 550+ ms all the time maybe why I have hard time to avoid things.

… This is not a issue with bosses. This is a issue of you not dodging, im melee and i only get knocked back once or twice a fight from messing up dodges.

First and foremost i will point out this ^, you have telegraphs on the ground and the basic attack that bosses use have a huge timely animation so you know where the hit will come from, you can pretty much pass through the boss to avoid being hit, second, whoever complain about one thing and don’t pay attention to the rest of things that are happening during a boss fight simple didn’t learned enough during his/her leveling experience.

I will say this and i know many know about it, when you level a char in a game, it is not only the char that gains experience, the player too, if one can’t even assimilate a bit of that, what is the point in playing?

And that goes without saying IRL also, anything you do, be it the first time or 100th time, there is always something different from the next or the last time you did that.

too many dead brain, lets defend knockback punishment from tighiest area to boss fight some moron that keep u down until u die, more than annoyin is when you get so much life, that you can waste a good 30min raging about you getting killed to death with your 100k + hp, and that retard designed boss that does 1 damage

I… I don’t think you should be insulting someones intelligence when you responded to a topic that ended 3 months ago, and then somehow messed up the quote.

On-topic (Since it’s necro’d): I’ve rarely seen the Swordsmen in my parties having issues tanking/holding the Boss, and these are randoms. Either they’re doing something right or you’re doing something wrong.

I do see other classes doing silly moves tho, stand in front of a boss, ranged classes standing too close to the boss and so on and so forth.

Not to count that the Full STR or STR/DEX and no CON builds running missions/dungeons standing where they shouldn’t or even trying to tank just because they got a sword and shield in their hands.

The other day in a mission i was kitting Poata while the group was luring the Mole inside the corridor and started to kill it right there, no place to move, away from my healing tiles, and i am not a healer, but a DPS (Sadhruid), i killed the Poala and ran to help them, stopped by the door and said to lure it outside of the corridor or they would die, then they realized the ■■■■ they did.

As for @blacklabel130 who quoted me, at least do it properly, your “joke”, if you can call it that, is way off from the funny zone.

I have a tank and i can deal with the knockback/down spam quite well, if you can’t then you have to review your game play.

As i said before (not sure if on this or other thread) a tank role is to keep the enemies away from the group, but that doesn’t mean he has to taunt and just stand there taking damage and expecting the healer to close in for heals and end up dying in the process, causing the whole group to wipe.

The gorilla has two knockback skills, the first one has a shorter animation of about 1sec. The other has a longer animation of about 2secs, which does two swipes instead of one.

So what I do when I get the aggro, is stand right in front of his face. When I see the animation start, I will run to the other side of the gorilla, and get in close. Then, when he turns towards me, I will run back to where I was originally positioned, and get in close again. This way, I avoid the attacks, and I keep the gorilla in the same position for my party to cast their ground aoes.

All this also keeping in mind not to “aim” the gorilla at the rest of my party, who are most prolly turtle-ing in the cleric’s safety zone. This is important as I’ve been in parties where the “tank” runs around the boss like a headless chicken, resulting in the boss firing his skills everywhere, like literally everywhere. For those wizards and archers who died because of this, know who has the aggro and keep an eye on his/her position at all times as the boss will be jiazzing all over that person!

I guess its pretty much how you adapt to the skills each boss monster has, how they use it, and your skill set. Practice and being alert also helps too! I’ve gotten one hit many times because I did not pay attention to the positioning of the boss and aggro-ed player.

Good luck and have fun!

I prefer swordy tanker just provoke and block xD (when I’m ranged char)

Well there are a couple of mobs with a way too high chance to knock someone down, one example would be some mob at magetower 2F.

Too high knockdown rate doesnt make the game harder, only more annyoing.

I dont mind the bosses though.

You should go to Ruklys chamber (the map before Evac), the yellow colifly there has 100% knock back rate, basically you are screwed if you are melee. They cancel your attack all the time

That sounds like an area for me!

But maaaaan i make way too many alts to get to that level
