To motivate "The Daily Grind" - Exp buff

To continue motivating players to grind in a particular map.

I was thinking it might be an neat bonus to have EXP buffs for duration of play within a particular map.

E.g player grinds in MAP A for 1Hr = Gain a 10% EXP Bonus
player grinds in MAP A for 2Hrs = Gain 20% EXP Bonus?

it can CAP OFF after X Hrs or something.

Something like that, to help incentivize players to continue their grind?

Thoughts?

Would definitely need a percentage cap to dissuade players from just AFKing overnight for massive EXP percentage modifiers, but conceptually it’s not bad.

Only problem I can think of immediately is how to handle having to go back to town to restock on goods and empty your inventory.

Or how about kill x amount of a certain monster to gain 1% bonus xp on that specific type? Capped somewhere by 100% bonus xp?

And make it achiement-like recording to adventure journal (or how is it called again?). Something like you kill a million popolions and get a permanent +100% exp from them and this goes to your achievement record.
I’m starting to love this idea.

I think this would penalize people who cant invest much time per single session. Motivating players to play daily or more often is good, but this mechanic especially rewards long playtimes which can give people a negative feeling about this game.

And now don’t say “screw those casuals”…

Would only promote AFK grinders. Your weapon and armors would normally last 30-40 mins before breaking

Aww I see okay. fair enough. But 2~3 hours for a casual is okay I think. If that time can be utilized and capped at say 3hrs would be reasonable. But then hardcore players would complain their aren’t being rewarded as much for their playtime I suppose :frowning:

Or yes. After getting a killing spree of 100 or 500 for example you gain a small buff for exp?

I guess mechanically probably something like gaining more exp from a monster the more you’ve killed that monster in general is the most fair option.

but it discourages players from discovering and adventuring new areas and places, which is supposed to be a feature of this game.

dont get me wrong, i’m not trying to be negative  this is the fairest mechanic so far.

they just need to buff the exp in of lvl60 to lvl100+ plus monsters

Overall exp gain is not the topic of this thread. This thread is about giving incentive for daily / regular / steady grinding.

rising the overall amount of exp on mid to high lvl area is already a good incentive. better incentive players to explore the world while leveling up just fine than make them standing on the same spot for hours

Rather than “daily grind” thing I would increase the lvl difference cap for players who can to still obtain exp. I would make it that as long as player gets regular exp from mob they can party up.

Example: Player 1 has lvl 60 and Player 2 has lvl 67. Mob is lvl 64. Players shouldn’t have any penalty for being in a party and grinding said monster. Right now it is (as i understand it) less exp for both.

Incentive for regular grinding? Make more mobs spawn because as it is now if they were to decrease the exp I would probably quit right away. Grinding is no fun when you have to kill one by one(and maps designed with only quests in mind suck). Long grinding sessions should be only for ultra rare drops not for leveling. (Who wants to sit 8h to get one level… It’s damn easy just time consuming…)

Maybe add some accessories that drop occassionaly and make rotations of them via RNG and annouce where and what drops when using some NPC?

@ni_yuki75: true, point taken: rising overall exp does give incentive for exploration.

But still: this was not the point of OPs post; he wanted to give incentive for more (and regular) grinding. This can be grinding the same map and monster again and again, as @nyaarh suggested, but it can also use other mechanics to give that incentive. Frankly: This thread isn’t about exploration, it’s about incentive to grind (which, again, in my opinion must not be bound to one monster type / map / etc.).

people dont forget supports! we can’t kill monsters :c

It won’t happen since in korea your suppose to prevent people from playing longer than 4 hour sessions and definitely not incentive’s it.

There is a sort of incentive to long grinds though. If you grind for more hours the yellow bar on your screen fills up, I think it also caps off at 100% :sunglasses:

You could try to make ut entertaining in the first place.

This system already exists (look in the monster tab of your journal and hover over a monster). They’d just need to add some exp bonus system along side it.

This idea is very bad - for same reasons that have already been said by others above me.

Also I strongly dislike the fact that the game rewards time invested, rather than actual player skill.
