Hello, I’d like to bring something very important to focus regardless if it has been considered or not. Many, many, MANY people are giving game change opinions based on a very limited experience of the game. For example, people who get to level 120 and say the game had easy exp rates do not know how the curve affects the 130 other levels in this beta, meaning they are basing their opinions for how to affect the entire curve without even playing half the game. Let alone taking in consideration that the game will have 500 or so levels.
I myself have noticed that the exp gains are taking longer and longer the higher I get. One thing is very common as I get through levels, that monster exp becomes more and more inadequate. The scale that monster exp is being based on feels very off to me. You could kill several large mobs of monsters and see very little bar progress even on tougher maps. Likewise, mobs that take more time to kill such as archers or mages or large mobs don’t give significantly more exp despite the increased time investment.
I personally like quests and enjoy the stories I’ve had to see in Tree of Savior, but there are times where I have farmed as well. As such, I have feedback on both. I would say that the exp gains from quests are good, but that you will be forced to grind even if you do all quests. In regard to this, I would ask that more quests be added through some kind of system to give further story and exploration to people who prefer leveling through these methods. It’s good for there to be enough quests for people who prefer the questing method to level.
For the monster hunters who don’t care for quests, I feel that the exp curve of monsters should be greatly altered so that they give much more exp for longer level stretches in direct relation to an over-arching curve based on the max level of the full game. Getting levels from only grinding mobs gets extremely slow way too early into the game. I feel that a lot of people don’t know or don’t consider how many levels are in this game when they say exp is too fast. For instance, some think 75 to 120 should take a month despite there being 500 levels. By their logic, it would take several years just to reach max level on one character. It would thus take a week or more for 1 levels by the time you’re 400. I will simply state I disagree with that mindset for the game. I think there is a lot of re-playability for Tree of Savior based on how you can build a character which makes for extremely slow exp unnecessary,
In any case, I think the exp curve for monster exp is not giving monster grinding enough worth for 120 areas, and much more so for areas beyond that. I also think the type of mob should greatly alter its given exp to take in account the time to kill from a mobbing perspective. I feel that there should be more quests somehow, either directly or an outpost of sorts or instanced quest chains that gives further stories and quest-base exp oppertuniteis and such. I say both because I think exp should be good for both quests, monster farmers, and for people who like to do both. I also think any instance that is heavily mega boss focused should give greater exp. The idea of leveling from hunting huge bosses seems appealing to me aslong as it is balanced to questing and mob farming.
That’s my feedback thus far, I will likely give more after I reach the 200+ portion of the game. Based off of feedback from people ahead of me, it doesn’t seem like these things disipate, but rather increase in severity, which although it is expected for the 200+ portion of the game to slow down, it is still not even the half way point which puts a lot of perspective onto things. But yeah, just thought it would be good to offer insight on my experiences thus far. Obviously the early bit of the game wasn’t hard or grindy at all except towards the 120 point, where it got a bit a grindy, but given how many levels there are and how much content there is, I wasn’t expecting it to be and agree full heartidly that it should not be grindy at all for the early parts of the game. I think a lot of people just aren’t aware of how big the game is and aren’t used to the early section of the game having so many levels and areas within it.
