Oracle is the best to kill bot just change a mob util you get some mob with 50k + hp hitting like truck
Or they’ll do what botters did in FFXIV. I still remember all those black mage bots in FFXIV… jesus. Even saw swarms of them just standing around not even caring.
But like… many botters actually started hiding inside walls or underneath the ground so enemies couldn’t aggro them and players couldn’t see them.
bot killing is fun but it gets bored becos ,those bots could restart in the map instantly,
but in some games ,once u die = town teleport
that is when players starts to REALLY treat a priest with outmost love and respect, not to mention priest became a wealthy class ,being paid to ress XD
and the world chat having loads of ppl shouting “paying xxx to be ress at xyz location”
bot will auto back to it’s previous farming area after dead so it’s meaning less
Probably they can come Back to the map. But if u do this in a dungeon map u can get some gems, YAY
It would be amazing if players had even a little more power to take matters into their own hands. The current machine learning system has potential, but it most likely won’t be expedient enough to make an impact once they resume creating new accounts.
Take oracles as a positive example and create mechanics that allow players more freedom to hunt these parasites as we see them. Because even if they evolve, genuine players armed with proper tools will always be a strong deterrent.
I’m being intentionally vague here. Not sure what such mechanics would look like honestly…
perfect bot is indistinguishable from a real player
spam bot is another matter
no matter how perfect a bot is, its still a bot. a program to be precise.
a living GM ingame can only be the answer.
even loading screen tells the difference between GM and a regular player.
Do they even exist?? that explains it.
you will not be able to identify a perfect bot
there are bots that use http://www.cleverbot.com/ for processing questions
there are private bots with flawless routes & playerlike movement as well as custom options such as:
- buff other players
- skip monsters if players are killing them
- instantly log off/change channel when another player is nearby (before you see the bot)
- stop moving for a moment make generic talk with nearby player
thats just a small sample of what silver grinding bots can do
living gm ingame is borderline retarded, very unproductive. better to focus on actually improving the game, developers cost money, hiring a janitor is derpy.
chat bot spammers are the only ones that can be identified easily and get hit
price on silver is at its lowest, why do you think that is?
I see a Oracle last night giving mob 60k HP… bots ran in and WHAM! dead…
But they came back 2 minutes later…
what we found is most of bots dont repair their gear… so after a few trolls to the same bot, it became pretty useless since they can only kill 1 or 2 mobs before getting stomped again…
btw… it was hillarious
Conducting more frequent bot sweeps is not unreasonable as a future request. Log in, sweep a handful of notorious, high level maps, then log out and move onto more pressing matters of the day. No need to hire the janitor.
A presence with the means to take out the trash would be appreciated. You’ll find quite a few botters that are both high level and happily farming even after being successively reported ingame and out. GM’s need to be able to distinguish a player from someone actively botting. Its a necessity if you intend to take RNG control in your game seriously. But hey, thats my 2cents.
I have personally reported bots months ago and just yesterday there it is again happily farming without a care or concern.
This is a clear indication that the current bot reporting system is flawed and in dire need of an improvement if not an overhaul.
Its just like @Arkova said, an occasional sweep doesnt hurt anyone.
This is by far the most constructive solution I’ve seen on these forums to deal with the bot problem. I hope this works for you.
Talking about giving more “power” to the players… What if the game acess still restrict forever from now and to join the game you need an friend invite?
Real ppl can always ask for a invite on the forums and this would stop at least those damn gold sellers on town and even the shout channel. Big problem of the free mmo is that the sellers can create tons of accounts and just replace the bot a few minutes later
I was planning to create a thread about it but im afraid from ppl reaction :<
From my experience gems disappear before other players can pick them up
oh really, then as yourself… if given a chance to sweep those bots with a GM command. how much or how many can you caught? you can’t identify a bot and a non-bot player?
humans are far more greater than any program has ever made. i assure you. seeing how you address thing like this makes me lose faith in Humanity.
This isnt just on instanced dungeons?
@elzeraus
you dont know a single dev tho
also i would not ‘‘sweep’’ bots myself if i were ‘‘given a chance’’ i have more important stuff to do with my life. bots are responsibility of imc and there is not much you can do to help them.
tfw i dont even care about bots and still killed more of them than you https://sendvid.com/gd413qpd
@Arkova
people make mistakes
people cost money
programs make less mistakes
developers already exist and get paid
thats why you will never see GMs policing the game 24/7. Sure if you make a report they might go ahead and ban the suspect as its really easy to check the logs. you can make any argument but a human being WILL NEVER police bots 24/7 that much i can promise you.
basically its very derpy to have an actual developer police the game instead of developing means to battle them automatically, and hiring a janitor is not cost efficient or reliable.
@Avidity
who’s told you to go 24/7 bot hunting? no one does
who’s sane enough to go policing the game 24/7? no one does
Dev will police the game ? they don’t have to. many people are more than willing to volunteer for that
the point is, no matter how long or short a GM ingame will police the game, it still impose a ‘tremendous’ threat to bot users. why? because there’s no escape there. it’s your PROGRAM, dealing with a real person at a given moment.
you sure are confident to say that bots are ‘flawless’, sounds like it would be near-impossible to distinguish them. and that’s the sad part
BTW, your vid encourage me to make an Oracle. look FUN, really really FUN
there are very few top notch bots atm, next to none honestly
the thing with good bots - you will not encounter them in game. if you know that somebody is a bot than that bot is likely publicly available
noway imc is gonna let normal users police the bots
something like csgo overwatch would be interesting to see tho
