This game disappointed me

TES:O is a good game. Sadly I couldn’t get into the aesthetic enough for me to really get into it but from the time I did spend there it was an enjoyable experience.

I understand what you mean, it’s really something when you find a game with a world and systems you really grow to love. I wanted to like this ToS but it just has far too many flaws to make it an enjoyable experience for me. :frowning:

You bring up a couple good points on quest design and server stability, but there’s a reason you aren’t playing GW2 or SWTOR anymore, and that’s cause they’re the same old ■■■■ with a slightly different art style.

Tree quest design is primitive, but its class design overall, forgoing a few obvious balance issues that they are working on often, is why most people stick to this game. Every class in GW2, WoW, etc. are exactly the same. They can all fill the same role, you can solve any problem in those games just by throwing more X at it, whatever X happens to be. GW2 content for both end game PVE and PVP was just a zerg fest, run at the boss over and over until it dies, no matter how frequently you wipe. Run at the enemy zerg over and over again, because your class fills the same roll as every other class: You are a body, just another zergling.

Classes in this game and MMOs should differ from each other, they should feel and play differently because why have classes at all if every single one just has a reskinned ranged attack?

Chat isn’t restricted to a cash shop item, you get 5 for free every day. Every other MMO I can think of removed global chat, because it’s usually cancerous and filled to the brim with spam. Every MMO has bots, and gold sellers, they are more creative and will always be one step ahead. Maybe people forgot when gold sellers in WoW spelled out the websites names with their corpses because not even creative chat filtering or 24/7 banwaves were enough. How quickly people forget what other MMOs were actually like.

That isn’t to say that Tree isn’t a shitshow most of the time, but client issues and server issues can be fixed. The core is there, and is what western MMOs sorely lack. It just takes so many years for eastern MMOs to catch up with the functionality of western MMOs. I don’t think we’ll ever have balance between the two, but I’m pretty sure that’s what every single person wants in an MMO: The creativity and uniqueness of east with the functionality and stability of the west. Someone will manage that one day and we’ll have a new golden age. Until then, take what you can get and enjoy what you can.

With all the “quit already, don’t even write about it” comments I feel that I have to remind you that, even tho the game changes SLOWLY. It is improving.

They are mostly quitting without posting, actually. The server is sitting at less than 5% its starting population and every single one of that 95% did create a thread before quitting? You think so?

And, remember when we figured out that the drop system was DPK? And we all asked for a % based drop? Why do you think they ended up switching for what we asked for?

And fixed damage skills? And bad stats/full con always? And necro minions lasting forever? And transcendence (which they are changing again)?

Everything happened and was changing for the best because of the feedback. Good, bad, constructive or not. It’s feedback. I agree it should be good most of time, like what Lunar Rabbit gives, but not everybody is the same.

Also, I agree with most opinions in this thread. Except the idea that people has mixed opinions about “Leticia cube”. People buy because they want to be the strongest they can in a MMO. And with our refining system, while I agree you can do most content with a blue weapon, you can’t be ““the best”” with a masinios weapon (current strongest weapon for most classes) +6, with 0 potential and locked gem slots.

So, what you do? You “support” the game by buying thousand cubes, hopping you get those two items. Or, of course… You buy those directly using the market, since they are tradeable yay. The only problem is: they are so expensive that they require you to be a necro botter / RMT to do so.

So, while there’s no restriction and obligation on having a +16/+21 weapon, we all know you have to be extremely lucky to risk your expensive weapon to do so or just buy 20+ diamond anvils/cubes. It’s up to you “support” this. I agree. But this differs a casual from a non casual gamer here.

wait… is it % based now?

Yes, darling

Wow. Even for HG? My luck is worse than I thought

I had the same mentality until I asked someone who buys and they actually like the random lootbox system and feel good when they get rare stuff out of it.

Obviously, they think it needs improvement and such, but they like it, yeah. I’m sure they aren’t the only ones. I personally really dislike it and don’t have the spare money for the RNG.

Kaizen, it seems like you are still in the shadow of late '17.

Wizard is in a better shape today after the Wizard Rebalance. If you got to WB now, you dont see 20 Murmnobi now. Times have changed my friend. There are more varied classes in the meta now and support classes are a must now.

As for this…

If every class out there has a equal farming mechanic. Then there’s nothing unique about a thauma anymore.
It as good as saying every class out there need a mini-heal or something.

I agree with you on that if you typed this back in 2017. But it seems like IMC have taken great steps to source for feedback and improvements in the game. (So far) It looks like a great 2018 ahead and something have definitely changed in their management. It seems that you have missed quite a lot

Does that change the fact that Wizard has access to a skill that drastically effects drops while every other class does not? IMO Swell Body is a pretty bad skill for the game because its forces a class in a build if you want to farm effectively, which kind of entirely goes against what this game is all about, class diversity, I’d rather see the skill removed.

People compare ToS’s loot system to Diablo and Path of Exile now, imagine if those games one of the several classes had double drops? Why play anything else when it comes to farming non-bosses? There’s a reason why people hated Biscos Collar in POE and there’s a reason why it got mega nerfed.

Those people are generally the same people who go to a Casino because of the thrill of gambling, it doesn’t change the fact that gambling preys on these people with gambling fallacy or no self control, its a business practice that really needs to die, it literally adds nothing to the game. Why not sell the items in the cash shop for a set price? Something something sense of pride and accomplishment.

Let me ask this question too: If Diamond anvils were added to the Cash Shop, would people lose their ■■■■? Whats the difference between them being in the Gacha Cubes?

As for the OP, I agree with a lot of what was said, I think a lot of things need to improve, especially Monster AI and Dungeons, they’re incredibly dull uninspired, but for some reason Kim/Imc thinks that giant damage sponges that only aoe or knockback is entertaining or challenging. IMC has been improving a ton of things, maybe these are things we’ll see in 2019.

Totally agree, yeah. I just meant that even on this people will support opposing sides. It’s really not possible to cater to every single individual.

People don’t really go Thauma for Swell Body, they go Thauma for the attack enhancing buffs that parties absolutely love, and that is not unique in a static scale. Swell’s double item drop bonus is just a…bonus which gives the class more utility outside of being a party class and it is not that great, especially when you’re farming mobs with a lot of hp, Swell would just make things needlessly more difficult. I can see the double item drop being nerfed into an attribute but that would make Swell by itself pointless.

Looting chance, a universal stat, is the only thing that affects drops.

People got different taste when it comes to games,
There are patient ones, some are not,
If you’d like to quit then so be it.
I chose to be happy to see this game improve over time rather than having an infinite jumping over to games due to unsatisfied taste/expectation.

But you know everyone has their limits. Just deal with it.

It’s completely subjective though… What one finds “great” another one can find it “terrible”.
There are also those games that don’t attract us necessarily that much at first, but in the end we’re pleasantly surprised.
Good luck finding the “great MMO” for you o/

@Seiran
I see ‘-’ This kind of things do give some kind of rush after all… even if it’s not good/healthy.
But the ones I asked about didn’t like it. A couple of them actually even got tired of it and stopped spending. But some others don’t like it and still support it… Too scared to be “left behind”, I suppose.

@Valkoria
Seiran’s isn’t pro-cubes, he’s just explaining that some people are satisfied with them. And yes, it’s not healthy but… it’s a lot of money for IMC, so it also makes sense that they’d rather keep it this way. It’s better to have people buy 100$ worth of cubes to get X item rather than have them spend 5$ for it. It wouldn’t be if very few people bought gacha cubes, but that’s not the case.
It used to be a direct sale in the cash shop, they changed it to gacha cubes and aren’t changing it back for now. Which probably means that they’re making a good profit from it compared to the previous system.
But I still don’t understand why Japan and Korea get packs to buy (with clothes and such inside) while iTOS only gets gacha cubes.

You haven’t explored the game enough, I guess. Ever heard of gimmick maps? Have fun with them (sicarius, second demon prison, etc etc etc). The game has many maps that require fun interactions with monsters and areas in order to achieve full exploration/achievements/treasures, and the best part is, they’re optional. The player who likes this kind of things can actually enjoy them, while the average player, who just wants to hit cap, buy items and rant on the forums can avoid them.

I will wait for you at world bosses, it will be a joy to see you (as many other players do…) die over and over at Zaura because you can’t see his axe swinging in time, and then report a bug when you’ll start getting damaged a shitton after his revival (spoiler: it’s the boss’s second phase). Yes, the bosses don’t have lots of clever mechanics, but they aren’t as bad as they’re described. RO’s bosses were just as boring. You did play RO.

I would agree with this, but the game really makes each and every effort to gift new players with strong weapons (the current events give you basically free 315 orange weapons), and getting Primus Raffye is incredibly easy, except for some classes. If you want to min-max of course it’s another story, and that’s where you have to grind a bit; still, not that much once you’ve learned about how to make money and materials efficiently. It was way worse with 315 orange weapons, farming for masinios and fietas/laitas/ausura is a cakewalk. Once you manage to get your hands on the recipe, that is!

Yes, the enhancement system is utter ■■■■, I won’t deny it in the slightest. It needs a way lower cap; but hearing people ranting about loss of potential makes me laugh. In RO I had my weapon break at the first failure and had to farm multitudes before getting my desired enhancement level. ToS is casual af. Oh, you said you played RO… how convenient to only compare better systems.

DUDE, you hit 350 in a day. What’s terrible about that? You not knowing how to do it, I guess…

Because it would be an unbearable and continuous spam. Period.

Because it has a bad engine. Sadly. It’s the MAJOR problem of ToS, and 90% of its REAL issues come from the faults of its engine.

Why did I answer you in such length? To teach you a valuable thing, my friend: if you don’t like a thing, uninstall and go on with your life. For example, I like tree of savior, acknowledge its issues, and play it as long as I enjoy it. So should you: play what you enjoy. It’s videogames, not your job or obligation from government.

TBH, while i don’t like the usual gacha system in MMORPGs because they are designed to grab your $$$,
TOS has created three limitations that make spending your money on Leticias Cubes/Goddesses Blessed Cubes actually worthwhile:

  1. They are timelimited sales (14 days, alternating)
This makes it sound as if it’s actually making it worse, but combined with the other two systems it’s actually an effective spending regulation

  2. There is a monthly spending limit
Although one can ask in the forums to release his monthly spending limit, it’s still a huge hurdle for people who are usually huge spenders in MMOs, even if they don’t have much money to spend

  3. There is the free 5 TP every 20 hours per day
Although it might be insignificant at first glance, it really has a huge impact on what you can achieve with the same amount of money spent ingame if you buy over time instead of instantaneously when the cube batches are released, you can get way more for your money.
    E.g.
you buy 100 TP and buy the 10+1 Leticias cube batch for 100 TP.
You have spent all your money/TP directly and got only 11 cubes.

If you buy 1 cube a day over the 14 days the cube is sold, you spend 5 TP a day (+5 free TP) per cube, leaving you with 14 cubes at the end of the sales period for a total of 70 TP spent. You have 30 TP left over, so you can use them e.g. to buy a character slot the next day(30 TP+5 free TP= you spent 28 TP, leaving you with 2 TP).

Spending over time is thus encouraged as it’s more rewarding than just throwing all your money out of the window.

The thing I can’t understand is why they basically stopped selling/creating 3rd Circle costumes, they were the one thing worth spending money on even for those players who like to be F2P.
A lot of Classes could’ve been improved this way, and some Class costumes don’t really look that appealing (e.g. Bokor), + that gimmicky effect changes when you use the costume is just great.

Now that there are effect costumes, they could even expand on that, introducing new effect costumes for older Classes over time to improve the game bit by bit without destroying the initial concept.

Tell that to the people who play the most popular Featherfoot build on almost (if not all) regions of the game. They aren’t going Thaumaturge C2 for the buffs, they’re going for the Swell drops and Thaumaturge only became a popular support build until VERY recently.

Also killing a group of swelled mobs is extremely easy as linker which is almost always paired with Thaum for farming because casting Swell Body on a group of mobs is a huge pain without them being grouped up with Hangmans Knot (and of course joint penalty making it easy to kill said mobs).

Oh I know.

That’s not entirely true though, there are plenty of games that make huge income from cash shops without tasteless gambling. Gachapons are just more popular in Korea and where I live in Japan, more people in the west are willing to pay higher costs for a guaranteed item than a chance at them.

I know plenty of people who would buy costumes from the shop (including myself) if they were on there but won’t spend a few dollars on a gamble, so they lose out on those customers and whales. Even games like Path of Exile which charge an arm and a leg for cosmetics (hugs my Kitava supporter pack) make much more from their regular cosmetics than their league specific loot crates by a large margin.

That’s because back then they didn’t have nearly as many good cosmetics back then, do you agree that cosmetics have improved immensely the past year or so? Back then the best costumes were pretty plain (imo). Back then we didn’t even have Wings/Backpieces, Character Effects, and many toys at all.

Plus IMC isnt stupid enough to put stuff like Diamond Anvils and Lv9 Abrasives in the cash shop for direct buy because I’m pretty sure it would cause a huge backlash, even though its essentially the same thing when they’re put in these gachapons but people look past it anyways (for the most part).

Popular? Sorry, that goes to the sorc/necro bots that are in very mob-populated maps.

Linker/Thaum/FF is a niche build that is mostly designed for farming with the offset of having high single-target damage. But guess what? That’s it. It doesn’t offer aoe which is well-received in CMs The build is well-suited for solo players as it offers self-healing and a one-trick pony set-up. When JP is down, FF can’t do much when there are still a lot of mobs other than Levitate-Blood Curse. But the build is pretty good in general if you know how to play it in multiple situations.

But as I said, it is pretty niche and relying purely on your FF skills gets old pretty fast. I speak as someone who was FF for roughly two years. Hell, there are praises for Thauma/Onmy builds but you’re stuck using low percent skills with huge aoes and low cds.

Thats… an entirely different thing and problem, those aren’t players farming, those are players botting. lol, way too burn the strawman there

What does CM’s have anything to do with farming builds? You can’t spend an entire day in CM, you can do it once a day per character.

That’s like, your opinion, man. Also I’m pretty sure people who are playing farming builds aren’t playing it with the intention to have fun, they’re playing it to get items and silver (which could equate to fun for some).

Now you’re just nit–picking instead of contributing to the discussion. Indeed it’s my opinion which I speak from experience. My point is Thauma isn’t OP because of one spell. Granted, Pyro sure had its time to shine with the OP necklace that wasn’t too hard to get, but not only did the class get nerfed, so did the necklace.

You’re free to believe another Wiz rework is coming that nerfs Thauma(again), but at least share your ideas of how to improvise Swell Body if you truly believe it’s broken. I’m being sincere, IMC won’t hesitate to nerf a popular Wiz class after all. Look at Chrono.
