This game can use less CPU resource. Why isn't it doing so?

DISCLAIMER: I only play on laptop, I have no idea how performance issues are on PC.

So after a really long while, today I forgot to turn on ThrottleStop and the game performance drops dramatically for me.

When I turned on ThrottleStop and lowered all CPUs limit on my laptop, performance improved.

I didn’t suffer any losses in graphic quality or sound. I can play in TBL, I can see my CPU temperature decreased in crowded place and the lodge screen

So yeah, the question, why is this game so resource consuming while it clearly doesn’t need to?

Answer: Because the game is not optimized.

From what i understand, tos is designed to run in a single core but doing multiple rendering. There are many background particles rendering and shadow effect realism.

Here is the source. Maybe you can decode it better than i do

Whether it is single core or multi core is irrelevant honestly. The point is it doesn’t need to hog the CPU.

srsly, single core… 1998 game engine??

edit: idk if this is why it take so long to just start up tos with my dear 4 core intel i5 cpu.

CPU is control processing unit. It is also the one determine how many control core. RAM and Graphic cards play a major role too.

The problem is : Can IMC really optimise ToS to support standard pc/laptop till high end gaming desktops?

I’m well within the required specs to run TOS with a custom build PC. I’ve never had my FPS lock up except for in town when a peak amount of players are on, but I can drop down to 10 FPS during mob clears in a party.

In a nutshell, it isn’t much better.
