This deal isn't so bad

I know a lot of you are very upset with the founder packs, but as a MMO veteran who has been gaming for over a decade, this deal isn’t so bad. We are just used to playing games for free that we don’t feel like paying anymore. This creates a problem that we think we are entitled to receiving entertainment for free when we are not, because the game developers need money to produce. They need to get paid for their work - such a simple concept yet everyone seems to forget.

Some say they would rather pay $50 for a “triple A” title, but what makes you think this game isn’t a “triple A”? what defines it? Almost all of them have less than 50 hours of gameplay(you’d be lucky if you stay interested for that long even). Yet TOS will give you far more hours of gameplay than those eye candies. I mean I would never pay 80 bucks for Ubisoft’s assassin’s creed or $120 for EA’s star wars battlefront. Some good ones like Dragon Age Origin, Mass effect 2, Witcher 3 are well worth the full price, but in the end, they only last 60 hours maximum. So how do you define a “triple A”? or why do you think TOS is not worth the money of a “triple A”? because from what I see, I will spend far more hours on this than all those titles.

Lastly, I’d be thrilled to pay 50 bucks for play time with legitimate peers in a bot-free environment, even for only 3 months. I bought founder’s pack for ArchAge, and let me tell you, the beta experience was the MOST refreshing, exciting experience I’ve had since 2005. I never played after the release because I knew it would flop, and it did. I paid money for that unique environment, where everything was fresh, and every player was legit. I paid good money(think like $150??) for 2 months of ArchAge, and I have no regret. This $50 in comparison is a bargain. Honestly, I probably won’t be playing TOS after 3 months simply because I get bored or bots become an issue etc… but I will still have a blast until then. Besides, $50 is nothing - you can literally make that much working at mcdonald for 3 or 4 hours. You’ve spent weeks waiting on the forum, how about go out of the house for a few hours and come back with the game you’ve always wanted?

If you are young and don’t have much experience in MMOs, trust me, this unique environment will be worth $50.

It’s not the money, its the time gap and integrity.

Apparently it’s money that creates the gap, so it is about money.

The prices are great, I actually really like them.

The early access length is just too ridiculous.

McDonalds pays around $8 an hour. There’s a fight over a $15 minimum wage if you haven’t heard.

I don’t think so… at least not in Canada where I live. It’s against the law.

Basically this, I love everything you get from the founder pack, but a 3 month time frame is like rubbing salt into that soon wound.

still paying for the founder pack tho

Canadian McDonald workers make around $11 CND/hr and the game will cost $66.7 CND.

You argumentation is acceptable except one thing. I must remember - this intended to be an INTERNATIONAL server, not NA and Europe only. Maybe in your country 50 it’s a 3-4 hours of working in McDonalds, but in many others $300 is a good MONTH salary.

I can’t argue with that except I feel sorry for people from other countries, but this applies to all games on steam not just TOS.

Which is why in 3 months the game will be free. And lucky for you f2p players, all of us founders are going to fund the game for you.

Did I say fund? Yes I did. Because as it turns out, games like this take a lot of time and money to make. I know, it’s surprising, but it’s true. So while you sit your ass and wait for the game to be f2p, we will literally be paying for the game for you.

Boo fkin hoo.

750$ here for early access >_>

This.

Also add the bad communication and the " Soon " bait to keep the player base hyped then dropping the bomb

im not korean and i dnt mind paying

i seen game say soon and it ment like 6 months so when somthing says soon its not so bad also the time isnt bad ur shelling out 50 for 3 months normal game its like 2 weeks but its like 10-15 so its ok for me

Wow.

How bait is this post? In the off chance you are serious, then you’re incredibly uniformed. Most players are upset about the three month early access which came out of nowhere. Plenty of people would be happy to drop money into this game. But $50.00 USD right off the bat when we know very little about how the international Open Beta is going to be handled? That’s a bit steep.

  • We don’t know if there will be server merging.
  • We don’t know if we can even trade with players without using the cash shop.
  • We don’t know how classes have been changed (some data-mined info is going around though).
  • We don’t know what kind of items the cash shop will have.

The communication is poor. If you want to drop $50.00 with so many uncertainties about the game’s environment, that’s on you. But don’t act as if you are doing the community a favor. If anything, you are only perpetuating and enabling this kind of business practice to continue. Get off your high horse. It’s $50.00 USD. That’s not even the issue here.
