Let me try to explain, since you’ve just gotten generic ‘lol swords is ■■■■ later tho’ responses.
Other than Fencer, Swordsman operates on burst damage. They have a few skills that offer decent damage/hit count/overheat/etc. and can deal their damage very quickly in one rotation - however their sustained damage is completely awful (again, with the exception of Fencer. Come R8, Fencer might very well be the best Swordsman class just because of its sustained damage potential, which is still quite a bit lower than any of the good archer builds).
So at low levels, hell, even up to the early 200s, you will generally kill things extremely quickly and not be hampered by your lack of sustained damage - because you just kill one group of mobs, and then by the time you’re ready to kill another you’ve got cooldowns up anyway.
The thing is, mobs will just outscale you. Eventually mobs have hundreds of thousands of HP, and you can’t burst them completely dead before all your skills are on cooldown. Then you have to sit there throwing out weak basic attacks for 20 seconds to finish them off. This is when Swordsman starts to really suck. If you were an archer, you would never encounter this problem, because you just constantly crap out damage with no downtime due to having extremely low or nonexistent cooldowns.
You have to chug more SP pots as an archer or wizard, sure, but at the end of the day that’s actually a lower maintenance fee than the Swordsman who has to constantly repair all of his equipment because he’s swinging his sword making basic attacks nonstop and also taking a lot more hits due to being melee and thus losing armor durability.
This is the same reason Swordsman generally sucks in PVP unless you seriously outplay the opponents, you have to kill at least one person in a single skill rotation or you do nothing for like 30 seconds.

I already feel like a boring taunt bot after level 120 unless the area is full of low health mobs. Burst-type skill just doesn’t work that well when mobs start having Dragon-like icon so it can have 5x the hp.
Magical circle area is just so much better especially with Penguin doing a good job of perma taunting anyway.

I just give up on completing monster kills for those types. Too time-consuming for a single exp card. I’d rather spend the time running my daily fedi repeatable quests.

They should just enable dispellers on tbl. And problems are all solved. Dont need to buff swordsman. In ragnarok that is why it is still balanced coz of anti status gears like marc cards unfrozen armors etc
