The most egotistical and scumbag base class

YES. YES.
SO MANY DO IT. What’s the point ? Bloodletting in a Mission with NO negative ailments ? So you buff it when there’s no need, but you don’t when it’s needed ?!
I think the worst of the worst is those who are Chaplains AND Plague Doctor, and spam all their buffs, including Bloodletting. What the hell, dude ? What’s wrong with you ?

You imbecile. COUNT.

  1. Aspersion
  2. Sacrament
  3. Swift Step (for their crit buff)
  4. BUFF - Mostly BLESSING
  5. BUFF (limit here if non token user @R5) - eg: DIVINE MIGHT
  6. BUFF (limit here if TOKEN user @R5) - eg: STONE SKIN
  7. MONSTRANCE (remove buff #1)

My point was the innate buff limit of other characters (non Clerics) and how a Cleric, especially a Priest that just buffs indiscriminately will inadvertently cause one OR more buffs of the other non-Clerics to be pushed off (past their buff limit).

Wow name calling. That time of the month?

JFC, you’re the only one who needed a visualization for it.

This is why as a Cleric C2 > Priest C3, I always bring Daino scrolls. So tired of swordies/archers crying to not buff this and that. Oh and I also met a good guy thauma that bring his own Daino scrolls.

Btw, back to topic. Archers surely wins. Met this one fletcher who was so disappointed and asking what trick I did because he lost the #1 to my Scout C3 (ironic)

Yeah, a lof of Fletchers I encountered (not everyone, chill), believe that once they get that class, the DPS just flies off the shelves.

It’s strong no doubt, but gear still plays a big factor + their “strongest” skill (from what I heard) is Magic Arrow, and that’s not until Fletcher 3.

Maybe most, but not all. Not all swordsmen are stupid as most would generalize them.

Swordsman, just for the slight , weird, unlikely chance that they might FORGET to chose peltasta.

xD

Yesterday I was flamed from beginning to end on a mission because I didn’t cast blessing on my spr krivis/priest. I didn’t even take the skill. There’s no way I’d pick a skill you can get for way longer and at a higher level by yourself. It doesn’t help the party.

That’s why I dislike AFK sorcs/necros, swordies who think they have the right to talk ■■■■ about anyone, clerics who override your buffs and any dps archer/wizard who kites the boss all over the room

2 classes is too little. Let us pick 4~

Archer 50%
Wizards 36%
Swordsman 31%
Cleric 13%

Seems like a decent amount of feed backs are rooted in competing for dps ranks, a fair share on afk on silau and afk necros/sorcerers. Swordsman for complains and Cleric (Priest for overbuffing and Monk for selfish play).

Because I’m a basic bitch I just prioritize what needs more in a situation. There’s no need to buff when there’s no need for it. Then again because I noticed this I’ll probably make a Krivis Pard for myself. q_q

  • In an ideal world, I’ll try and use Aspersion only on the tank or someone who WILL take Physical Damage. So I end up running ahead to buff only them with that.

  • Blessing is a constant when fighting.

  • Will only ever use Monstrance when there is 2 or more Archers.

  • Will only use Revive if Party Members look really squishy, to prevent OHKOs against bosses. Otherwise Ressu works fine.

  • Sacrament again if there’s Archers or builds that auto attack alot, like Swordies.

  • Stone Skin is abit like Aspersion, but only really valuable toward physical bosses or largely physical pulled mobs. Might take up too much slots normally.

Decided to close the poll, thanks for the input of everyone. The results and feedback are interesting and unexpected. What I hope for everyone who read this thread was to learn from the criticism from other people.

probable flamebait explanation: archers (+elememe) for the noobs and swordies for the douchebags.

Seriously tho, while one can never generalize a class, I believe there’s some psychology involved in choosing some class and why there seem to be some apparent pattern in the behavior of people who tend to be almost-exclusive to one job tree

to be fair with what I think about swordies, swordies also have produced notable players like cathexis and autentist who have created the most well-written guides I’ve seen so far - no bs and well-researched class guides unlike those run-of-the-mill early release class builds in tosbase.

as for archers, I’m not sure if it’s just me but I’ve seen more number-crunching discussions in archer subforums than other places in this forum

I’ve also realized more mature people tend to play support or utility classes that are somewhat vital (translation: in demand) to certain gameplays but are quite boring or less flashy. Not just in ToS but in other games as well.I don’t usually play these kinds of classes so less bias with this insight.

Archer, or more specifically QS3.

I’ve only had a single person complain that they weren’t 1st on the DPS ranking in a mission, and it was a QS3.

Also, 90% of QS3 will drag bosses outside of attacks, not caring to learn boss patterns to keep them stationary for the party. They simply know that because they can DPS while kiting without worrying about position, that they don’t have to worry about how it’s hurting their party.
(Then, proceed to brag about 1st ranking after Hail/Frostcloud/Flare Shot/Magic Arrow/Cure/Zaibas/Carnivory and such all missed because the boss only stood in the zone for 2 hits.)

Of course, there is that 10% of the QS community that actually knows how to play, and doesn’t do these things. And I appreciate those members.

There’s also some minor points of

  • Archers KSing the most
  • (In Beta, and very early on) Kneeling-shot AFK Z-Attackers
  • Going into a dungeon with 0 CON, 0 HP Potions, and complaining to the clerics when they die.
  • Rogues stealing ground spells the moment they are casted (Or Swiping a fresh Safety Zone off of a tank)

Again, those are pretty minor tho, and don’t fully reflect badly on the archer class itself.

Yes they are very helpful for the effort of making very detailed guide but did they rage quit? The guide haven’t updated for months and tos has gone many skill balancing. Now i am doing the hard way, saving skill reset and test every skill i have. Or maybe i too lazy to read thousands of comment post

I’ve learned a great deal myself and can keep from triggering others. Something’s like overbuffing or even afking at the torch really irritates people though I do neither I won’t start now (mainly cause I only have a c2 Cleric, c2 Bokor as my cleric char and my Sorcerer I use my summon to kill stuff as I sit there and occasionally get up and kill things myself).

This what I’m interested with, I’m studying the line of social psychology and there’s a deep rooted explanation why people shift their mains and choosing a decent class itself, it may not be apparent on a conscious level but psychoanalysis might help in some way. Looking how the community on forums differ from the game there’s still much to look on.

Eh…to go that route you really, really need to be asking players why they chose x class. Otherwise you run the risk of misleading assumptions

It’s fine, the thread was mostly for fun either ways, dealing with psychoanalysis roots in sub-conscious level, I just love how the tos community interacts and responds in various ways.
