The many flaws of TOS and how to fix some of them

thats because RO allowed 100% cast time reduction from getting DEX, im not saying to go that far, but cast time was way more interesting the cooldown
maybe limit it to like 50-90% reduction depending on the
skill

ragnarok is an oldschool MMORPG so thats pretty well inline with their vision

as cool as a ragnarok HD remaster would be, im totaly fine with TOS being just as good

Well, I have to agree with some things, and I guess we have a similar point of view.
In my opinion, one of the things that got ppl to play together in RO was how hard it was to regenerate both HP and SP, as well as how expensive pots were. I feel like bonfire and easily accessable pots are a real bad system for this game if it wants to be ā€œold school grind basedā€.
Now, going to the instances aspect, it’s what, imo, is killing the game. Currently, all I do when I log in is -> Do Siaulai 3 times(takes like 40min-1h to do 3 runs) then do Catacombs rush 3 times, then log out. That’s basically all I’ve been doing and hell, it’s ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  boring(and also the quests are pretty boring too so w.e), I hardly enjoy myself playing this game anymore.
All of that because they made instances a thing, they give so much exp and so much money that there’s no point spending hours hunting for mobs(unless you have that much free time).
I feel like what needs to be done is the removal of Bonfire and a revamp to the potion system(and ofc, MORE SPAWNS/MOBS/MAPS). And potentially reduce the relevancy of instanced dungeons.

can you explain a bit more why you don’t like the bonfires?
currently i think they are a great addition to encourage socializing with other players

When did it ever help you socialize with other players? XD it never did for me, most of the time ppl just set it up and sit there for 10secs untill their hp/sp are halfway full then move on.

the intention is obviously to get players to hang out together while waiting to recuperate from battles, i think if they fix the party system this will happen a little more

it also depends on the player, you simply may not be that kind of person and thats totaly fine aswell, but theres no real reason to remove them

Man sorry but I need to say: ā– ā– ā– ā–  you! Because mainly for ā€œremove cd potions and spellsā€ I don’t want to get spammed of rains or meteors or anything. Without cd? Really? Just press a key and spam, really? ā– ā– ā– ā–  all strategies of combat and just press a key? Why High HP if I can spam my pots to keep my life full…Homunculus AI? Do you want to farm afk right? Go back to rag boy…

The thing is, what effect would it have to nerf potions but keep bonfires? Imagine if RO had this sort of system(bonfire), the game would not only be alot easier, but also players wouldnt come together for playing as much either. Losing SP and HP was a big deal, and that’s the big incentive that brought ppl together(imo) and what got players to deal with challenges to lvl faster.

personally i wouldn’t mind a potion buff

and i also mentioned Vindictus bonfire, which gives you a small stat buff if you have been sitting at the bonfire for a little while, maybe that would work better then a direct heal, or how about a small temporary exp booster?

remove instanced dungeons
farming dungeon is less boring then spending ages grinding in open field with kill stealing, and i found farming dungeon have little bit more social than open field grinding

spell cooldowns
i like the current skill CD system

CD on potion should remain, spamming potion is really one of the worst thing to have in MMO

AOE limit
i like it too, not only stop high level ppl trolling low level content, also make build more diverse

exp range limit should be removed or rescaled
should only be limit for party, in-order to reduce power leveling and promo partying with same level, which would be healthier for new comer

and if they increase the mob and field boss spawns, or add more zones, then kill stealing wont be so much of an issue

i dont understand this, why would an AOE limit prevent high levels ā€˜trolling’ low level areas, as far as i can see this doesnt happen

why? if they want to grind up and spend their silver on pots whats wrong with that?

All I just want is that they rework those trading restrictions, like, wtf, you can’t trade lots of things, you can’t trade money, you have restrictions in how many times you trade even if you have a token, you can’t buy a token and trade with a friend, the size of the storage is ridiculous for the amount of itens you have in the game and paying for extra space is not a cool way to resolve that.

Also, why the market have so many ā€œtaxesā€ for selling a item? I get you having to pay 1% a day for keeping it there but 10-30% of the price goes to nowhere? Why 2 days to get the money back? It is like I’m dealing with a real bank but this money is fake.

These restrictions are destroying something that makes a game very unique wich is its economy, economy can wages wars and ruin kingdoms, a MMO without economy makes no sense at all.

I know that IMC wants to monetize the game while letting us play it for free, but the way it is right now is making the game pretty broken for MMO standards. If the reasons for it is to keep the economy safe from bots this isn’t working or is just a lie. This is like an Embargo, please review these trading rules so this game can grow more and more.

Sujestions:
#1 No trading limit

#2 Money should be tradable

#3 make token tradable, it would be good for guilds and friends who wants to gift someone

#4 remove the silver penalty (for me this is a penalty) when selling itens, just keep the 1% for keeping it for sale

#5 remove or at least reduce the amount of time to receive the money from itens you sold in the market

If at least some of those sugestions get accepeted it would make the game more healthier and playable than it is. Instability, game bugs and gameplay improvement can be done, but some directions taken in the game can take it to irreversible disasters.

Please, analize the sugestions in this threads to be aplied in the game, all we want is build a better game.

the trade restrictions are a temporary measure to try stop the bots and gold sellers, once they find better ways to deal with them, they will remove the trade restrictions

When I talked about nerfing potions, I meant that we needed to nerf their availability. I.E, I wouldn’t mind if they increased their effects as long as they start costing alot more.

grinding is still a bad idea, with current partying system, grinding is the worst idea, should have place more dungeon with story or more quest with back story, no more grinding or farming for EXP, farming or grinding could still exist for rare drop, but not a way to force you sit infront of a comp for nights repeating the same thing just for EXP

AOE limit mean no more wide screen all mob taunt and 1 hit all of those with high level at low level content, with how broken the loot and kill count system unless the whole kill count, loot system change over, no more kill stealing, it should remain certain AOE limit, and it also make distinctive difference between class such as Canonneer and Musketeer, why bother going falconer and canonneer if everyone have same AOE ratio

Cleric class and support class, if there are no CD in potion and skill, it will just endup into skill and potion spamming game, who ever is richer have more HP potion to spam, the tankier it is, who ever got more SP potion to spam, the more DPS it will be

but we should have something learn from RO, such as even i have level 10 skill i should be able to choice casting or using lower level of the skill

Heres my two cents about the issue:

1-Custom AI:
Its terrible as it is, but they already adimited it, they plan on changing it so we have to sit and wait

2-Disable ally pet highlight:
They just did, its going to happen tomorrow (if im not mistaken)

3-Remove instanced dungeons:
I actually agree with that, but not as the game is now, before they do that we would need bigger maps, with faster spawns, more monsters and they shouldnt be tied to a specific place. They should move around all they want, also the maps have no personality or link between them (at least not a noticeable one) i never enter a map (or group of maps) and say ā€œokay here is a swamp areaā€ or ā€œI might find some fire monsters hereā€. But the most important change that needs to happen so its viable is the exp rate, killing monsters isnt rewarding right now, and elites are a joke, they are regular monster with insanely huge HP pools. (i would rather have a chalenging monster with 20k Hp than an easy monster with 100k)

4-Spell cooldowns:
Dont go in that direction man, thats a gameplay mechanic of the game (and one that is working fine), that would be way harder to balance and better ping/fps players would have advantage.

5-Spell attributes descriptions need to be shown:
Agree 100%, the game doesnt give us any information. I had more than 30H as corsair before i knew all his hidden mechanics, and only thanks to forum. There should be some things hidden, but not the basics like base damage and scaling.

6 and 7-Trade chat and !! Messages
Nice idea, wouldnt change much, but still nice

8 and 9 -party automation and remove last player.
Dont agree much on this one, this looks like a way to cover the fact that the game isnt social at the moment. You should WANT to join a party, not be PUSHED into one. The problem here is the lack of incentive to join a party, the fact that we dont stay in a single map for more than 10-20 mins top, the fact that grinding isnt rewarding, the unbalancing between classes and so on… This game is almost punishing parties, if they make them into something rewarding people would be looking for parties and not avoiding them. Some people create one man parties to avoid invites and some people want to keep a party name, but i agree that there should be a time limit to stay as a one man party, so the name would be free again in case of inactivity.

10-Bonfire should scale
Partially agree. Bonfires should scale with time, this way resting longer would be benefitial and parties could have longer resting chats, but the bonfire right now is over powered, you dont even need a sacer, 10 secs top and your good to go. If bonfires were nerfed to make them almost uselles in the short run, but getting better as you stay on it, them they would fulfill their porpose of being a social moment as you would have 2 options, or you get a healer to use it less (since bonfires now are an actual stop in your gameplay) or you actually stop with your party, and chat while you guys wait.

11-Consumables:
Again the Ping/Fps issue. But giving it a base + % healing could be effective, as the % wouldnt be expressive in lower levels, but could help at higher ones. but couldnt be a high % because it would give unfair ammounts of heals to tankers (and they can easily avoid damage until the next use). Also this would take the focus out of sacers and bonfires (thats totally against your socializing ideas, im even surprised you gave this idea)

12-Attack speed
Attack speed is a thing in this game, you have different AS in the weapons and there are classes that have skills to change it too. I just think this was not well made. The Archer AS class is the quarrel shooter, the only defensive class in the archer tree, and because he gives AS he is a core rank to almost any archer full dps (the only DEFENSIVE rank!! Can you belive it? Poor concept!). Corsair was supposed to deliver AS to swordsman, but i just dont see it, dont know why it seens to have failled since my corsair only got to C1 (went fencer after it) and the AS skill is C2.

13-Spell attributes are boring
Agree that attributes could have a bigger impact on the skills mechanics so we actually have to think wich ones do we want enableds.

14-Spell AOE limit, enemy agro limit and leash range.
Totally agree, thats some broken ideas that never gave any benefits in my opinion (if someone desagree please explain to me why)

15-Exp range limit should be removed or rescaled
Agree. Another broken mechanic.

16-Stamina
I have no opinion about stamina, since it doesnt change anything in my gameplay (and i have a rank 7 sword), its just numbers with no importance at all to me.

17-chat censorship:
Agree, having every sentece censored without reason is annoying.

18-Journal quests rewards insignificant
Thats not true, they add up. If you can complete all of them you would have a huge advantage, thats even more true to your lower lvl alts, that could have +20 acurracy +2k health and other bonuses right at lvl 1. Its almost like 50 free levels, if they make them better there would be no need to lvl hard as it would be a better way to improve your char.

My complaints:
X- : Class Changing NPCs/Quests
I think class masters should be put on spots that combine with their classes and not just some random map, it gives them no pesonality and makes changing class looks like just another boring chore. The quests have no difficulty and they all look the same doesnt matter wich class your going (i have 1 rank 7 and 3 rank 5). The fact that there is some classes that have 2 class masters also is a wrong move in my opinion, as it takes the importance of those NPCs and make them look just like ā€œok, i have to talk to some random npc, doesnt matter wich one, do a boring chore in like 5 min top and them i have a super power boost in my char!ā€

X2- Classes concept
Some classes just dont follow their concepts, some examples would be Schwarzer Reiter who should be a mobile archer but all his skills have animations or chanelings that you have to keep still, Quarrel Shooter who shoudl be a defensive ā€œset the baseā€ shield wearing class but is actually the core Dps class of the archer tree and everyone uses it with daggers, Paladins who should be holy offtank fighters but their buffs almost dont help their defense (expecially against darkeness who should be their main targets), they have no holy atack (Arguably barrier) and their main skill is sold everywhere so no one needs them, Highlander with the idea of a way to be offtanker blocking without a shield but since theres no way to get agroo they dont even have a chance of tanking, and a lot of other classes that dont serve their porpouse right now… the staff already took those issues into consideration but never shared with us what they plan to do, lets just hope for the best.

TL;DR
This game is lacking personality on its maps, classes, npcs and monsters. They punish partying and grinding or social aspects of the game are totally neglected, buuuut they also have a lot of cool mechanics and the game was rushed into release and its still begining, they still have a lot to improve but im confident they will do so.
