i think leather will become better for PHY DPS (or all dps?) classes… we need see the numbers first to know How much this Atributes for leather will give and if will be good
Just have to wait for the patch to land on ktest (next week?) and we’ll know. Devil’s in the details. I like how they say about making maces have dual main attack, so they can be anviled and transcended for both magic and physical attack.
No mention if transcended equipment are still character bound or changing to team bound.
I think they might mean just in general defense to incoming physical damage. Currently the skill will increases your (flat value) by a percentage, but it could be changed into such a manner that it instead reduces incoming damage by (x%), i guess similar to that skill of cough Assumptio - for Ragnarok Online players. Although, that itself is still speculation.
Makes more sense if I look at it that way, otherwise someone’s been smoking something pretty strong over there.

Eh not exactly. With Mob restats, item buffs and the like it’s hard to make guesswork at just how much defense we will need to survive.

The Gear reliance itself isn’t a bad thing. Many games are gear reliant. It’s the requirement of this trans step that makes things feel wonky because you have two of the same equipment but one is 2x stronger. Since Gem requirement will increase with item rank it means you’ll need more and more investment to hit stage 10 every item star rank.

Not necessarily. Since it’ll likely be governed by gear and skills. We got too much crit rate with the way they were distributing damage for things like STR to be valuable without large buffs compared to Dex. I mean we had a god stat. Dex provided Offense, and defense, two fold. Missing is a DPS decrease, accuracy resolves that. Crit is a dps increase. Evasion is a damage decrease.
Now Dex still provides offense and defense but if it’s limited almost exclusively to AA’s then it has a specific category of specialization where STR can handle the general. -
Leather is looking like the offensive gear choice. Throw Cloth and Plate to specialize in a given defense type and Leather for offensive users.
I fully expect kinky magues surrounding me.
Looks like my damage thread will not be need to be remade.
The formula is straightforward, and universal.
Additive + bonuses all go into one slot
Multiplicative % bonuses all go into another
No more ridiculous tier stuff that affects stuff before defense, or after elemental damage, or inbetween so and so while stacking with this but not that. You know, the entire reason we even needed such a damage thread to begin with!
Saves me some time, and might start playing the game again with this.

All I can say is that I supported ToS from the start, buying every single founder pack, DLC, etc, then spent over a year developing my character the best way I could, spending huge amounts on TP, stats resets, skills reset potions, grinding, farming, to get the best gear, and transcended it, and now, from one day to another, all I did may be trash.
IMC just wants your money, couldn’t think in any other way. I’ve played a lot MMO’s, but never seen something like this. If these changes ruin what costs me so much time, and money, it was all a scam, a theft, a rip off.
We’ll see, but to be honest, I believe this game will never change, it’s always going to be P2W in the most outrageous way. It had such great potential, and now that the game is dying, they change everything trying to rescue this disaster, while scamming those who supported them from the begining. Maybe it’s too late, I think.

The REASON there is such an outcry is that it is a bit too P2W given its intended demographic. We’re not korean gamers, this is North America [for Orsha and Klaipeda] and they should know to not make it too pay 2 win because we don’t like it when it’s like that.
The problem with extreme P2W as you found out is that they’re always hungry for your cash, and in order to stay competitive you have to keep dishing out the $$$$$$. It will never stop.
P2W suggests there is a pay wall (meaning no possible way for ftp players to obtain what people who pay gear wise). Both people who pay and not pay can obtain these items. Time Versus money. I suggest you mean to say “Pay to speed things up”
That wall may exist on really old MMOs, but this is the new age P2W now. It’s the same thing really.

All my gear in FFXIV will be the same when Stormblood comes out and increases the level cap.
Now I’m not arguing that people can very well spend to get money in game faster which is basically buying power. But there is no wall.
