And so the great rebalancing begins. As I had stated in the past, the ALL DEX meta will be gone, and hopefully this game will start to feel well-balanced. I can already see a variety of stat setups for different classes with this, like Monks being CON and STR heavy.
I’m interested in understanding where they’re placing crit-rate and how well-balanced crit rate is going to be in comparison to mobs crit resistance. Clearly there’s gotta be a form of crit-rate somewhere, no?
At the very least people can’t complain that they won’t be able to reset their characters to account for this drastic change. I’ll have to figure out what to do with my main’s stats (as skills and ranks won’t be changing). Having attack speed modifiable by stats intrigues me too. If it’s only for auto-attacks though, I can see only particular classes being even remotely interested in such a benefit.
I guess they will also remove the entire “higher base level requires higher crit rate” of the formula and just focus on CRate vs CResist.
Too many unknowns, let’s wait on the kTesters data. They always pull through on these things.
I kind of liked the removal of crit from your stats. Makes it so that it’s open to being integrated in some other way instead of just getting it raw from DEX.
Last I checked, Aspersion was already %-age based.
This is more or less my train of thought.
My initial thought process is the following:
-
Crit-rate is applied using equipment and the average crit-resist of mobs is lowered to compensate for it.
-
Crit-rate may have been removed as a stat entirely(?) and perhaps would signify that there’s another application at hand which causes crit-rate? Because this would require skil reworking. I.E. Swift Step Critical Rate Up attribute increases crit rate by 5%
-
Leads me to believe that crit-rate will be achieved via stats on items and enchants. This also may be something predominant in LEATHER armor, which would be fantastic. Another good example would be Green Gem’s, but let me reread because I’m certain they’re changing gem interactions as well.
On a different note, did you notice how the chances in weapon damage calculation vs circle damage has completely overhauled the meta in its entirety? This is beautiful. While I’m sure meta-mancing will be readily available, the thing I’m infatuated with is that now us Archers aren’t shafted at R9 (specifically us SR’s).
Basically this entire thing is going to change the entire game.
DISCUSS!
######Meanwhile Blessed Shard whales are crying that they might become irrelevant etc. without reading the whole thing.
It’s far from irrelevant and I hope they do partially read so that I can take advantage of the new system and stock up on them.
I’ll be honest the fact that they aren’t going to reduce shard costs at all scares me. If it’s just 20% per stage wouldn’t it make sense to have all stages cost the same? Also do we get additional sources of shards from somewhere else? That would be nice. Tired of Saalus. That map makes me depressed when I enter it.
In any case, it still means it’s a a whopping 1200 shards for Stage 10 per weapon? Though I did see mention that the cost varies on the grade (stars) of the weapon. Still need to re-read the thing a few more times I think.
Archer had the worst when it came to trans, now they are just back at the game, beautiful.
But they are reducing the cost of shards and even more so for mainhand/offhand (dual wielders of such).
3-1. Equipment Production & Maintenance Costs
We’re planning a few changes to the production and maintenance costs of all equipment items. There will be differences in enhancement costs, required amount of gems for transcendence and repair fees according to the level and grade of the item. Additionally, we’re reducing production and maintenance costs for one-handed weapons and subweapons equipped by the same character.
Just those yeah. Not all. It also says 270 gear etc. will stay the same for 2H.
I feel that the patch will attract a lot of players but the restrictions must change. They also need to address their net-code and CPU load. The VGA errors are back and every patch seems to damage something else. Like DPK currently is abysmal again.
Yes, this looks like a good change. But there are some things that left unquestioned though… well just waiting for ktest players then…
so… Transcendend lv 10 is now “nerfed” heh… I foresee lv 10 transcended weapon will now cry here and quit…
Str looks viable now
Int is the same as usual… Now it’s boosted
Dex with atk spd? interesting
Con doesn’t seem changed much. But with atk/def formula looks interesting
Spr… uh??? looks worse??? (I’m a priest chaplain and I find this offensive
)
and now mobs will never knock me down. ehehehe so… pain barrier now is neglectable in PvE??
You seems to forgot something guys:
The crit resistance of monster was coming mainly from their CON.
CON ins’t gonna give Crit resistance anymore so monster will have a lower Crit resistance anyway.
If this patch is what it says it is it means:
ALL CLASSES BECOME VIABLE
And we won’t see 17x Pyro’s in town.
inb4 you get another :T
The changes are mostly welcome, but a few remarks:
-
With defense being nerfed we won’t be able to take 1 dmg from everything. If this means taking 500 from every mob as a mage we will just go back from tree of pyro to tree of cleric.
-
Removing skill damage from higher ranks skills mean that we will be even more gear reliant. Without the ability to transfer transcended items on team storage this means farming alts might become weak af/require great investment.
-
Critical rate scalings and the like, as stated in other posts, can become problematic.
-
Very worried about how they are going to balance armor defenses. Will leather become useless?
Rebalancing is only half of whats needed to save TOS, the other half is to fix the fps and implement proper endgame, but apparently you get flagged for pointing out the inconvenient truth.
Maybe they will get the optimization done by next year.
People get flagged for posting unconstructive whining that contributes nothing to a discussion. Had he mentioned anything about what ToS needs beyond this patch, he likely wouldn’t have been flagged. All he did though was say “lul too late, you shoulda done this earlier gg no re.”
He’s welcome to contribute something of actual substance to this thread, such as your post did. You know, minus the facetious and ignorant remark about flagging.
