The Answer to All the problems? [COME IN]

To everyone, you have to understand that every class has its own prespective on this economy catastrophe or gold mine in its own prespective, I for example think its a bankrupt, the whole point in a game is to have a progression, when some classes are struggling to progress you start asking yourself why am I even playing this class? why shouldn’t I pick what helps my progression better in every term, rather then “suffer”.

Most of the people are missing the issue, having 1 channel and crowded areas of people farming the same spots means you break your equips at the same pace but earn less gold and exp, if there were more channels and spawns most likely you’d be having a better time in progressing, regardless of class because you’d have more farm for yourself, as for parties? in my experience parties take a toll on your economy and experience, better have it solo, and why is that? because you divide everything you have by the amount of party members but the cost of everything you pay for is practically the same in terms of repair and enchanting (not in potions because most likely you consume less), I have 3 different classes over lvl 125+ so I had the experience of the good and bad of the progression of almost every class.

As of this moment, the biggest problem of IMC and ToS in general is big balancing issues in class early-mid-late game and spawn distribution which would probably fix the whole economy and progression in general.

I come from ARPG experience for years upon years and been testing dozens of alphas and betas of a lot of ARPG games, and this game can be frustrating in progression at times, And I say that as an hardcore gamer.

Another reason why people are “botting” and auto attacking while AFK is because the progression becomes to intense and ineffective to the point where you have nothing to lose but stand there and MAYBE something will happen and you gain some gold or exp, I think that adding more channels and much better spawn areas will DEFINETLY reduce the amount of these people.

And as a side note to IMC, Listen to your community and share information with us as well so we can communicate with you to make this game better for EVERYONE, what happened in the 3rd of nov patch where you did not share the “economy changes” in the patch notes is eradicating the community, We don’t like when info is hidden from us and we have to discover it by ourselves, If you want us to test your game to the fullest for YOUR benefit, you have to share this info with us.

We are the community, we are the deciders of what is good for us, not you IMC, and probably you could’ve seen how many people quit because of the slow progression and frustration that you created already, which is a really bad way of starting a beta on its first week, don’t you think?
Think of the impression you’ll leave when the game comes out.

If anyone has anything to add, feel free, this is an open community to share ideas, thoughts and feedbacks.

I agree, perfect :sunglasses:

I truely wonder why people just complain instead of giving a valid, constructed argument to discuss about.

No. those people are doing that because they’re lazy, Those type of people do this type of thing when they can even on games without those problems.

What I wrote is that it will reduce, there will always be people trying to exploit their ways, but nevertheless its a part of a solution.

I agree, all the changes should be announced instead of us finding out the hard way.

My opinion regarding your topic…

About channels:

Many MMORPGs don’t have channels. RO itself doesnt have channels. Massively Multiplayer means you get to play with other people, not avoid them. I don’t know how much ragnarok you have played, but a very strong (and successful) factor in that game is the social aspect of it. Perhaps you don’t enjoy it, but a lot of RO players enjoy logging in a whole day just to sit in a town and chat with other people. You don’t see that kind of stuff in most MMORPGs nowadays.

ToS tries to deal with the problems you have stated using the channel system. They add a lot of channels in extremely populated areas (beggining and low leveling areas, as well as towns) exactly to deal with the lack of spawns for mobs and KSing problems that frustrates everyone. However, they keep higher level areas with fewer channels because they still want people to socialize, and sometimes even force that on you a bit. Sure KSing is annoying, but it is part of the game having competition while fighting a map boss. Sometimes you can make a new friend by partying that random guy who’s asking for help on a quest.

Please notice that I’m not insisting that you should socialize more. My point is, if they really added more channels to higher level areas (which already have fewer players than lower level ones), the population would naturally spread somewhat evenly among them, meaning every player would have to deal with less social interactions. Even the ones who enjoy it. Sorry but this is a MMORPG, not a single player. You’ll have to deal with the social aspect of having other players around.

About parties

Sorry but I can’t agree with you on this one either. Perhaps you have partied with really bad, unexperienced and useless players in the past. But if you manage to make a good party, I will tell you that:

  • Even though the experience divides, you are killing faster with two (or more) players rather than just one. And in case you don’t know, there’s even a nice party exp bonus to motivate you to do it: http://toswiki.treeofsaviorgame.com/mechanic/party

  • Boss loots from quests don’t divide between players. The boss will literally drop each of its unique item to each player in party. Give me a good reason to solo a boss rather than doing it faster, easier and safer with a party (other than for the sake of challenge).

  • I don’t believe you have done instaced dungeons. The mobs there are hardcore, give a bunch more exp and are really tough to solo (and not worth it to solo and take a lot longer or solo being a lot higher level with a big exp penalty). The first time I did the level 50 dungeon (in tenet garden) I went from level 50 to 54 in just one run. It took us about 20~30 minutes to do it, which is quite fast leveling.

More Channels = Less bots?

Uh… No?

We are deciders of what’s good for us

That’s not entirely true. In case you don’t frequent the forums much, a society will always have people who agree to a certain cause, and people who disagree with it. That is why, in the case of a democracy, we elect leaders to “help us decide things”. A good leader is the one that does collaborative work together with the society to decide what’s good for them. That is what IMC is trying to do making closed beta tests and listening to people’s feedbacks. I mean, if the closed beta was just for finding bugs and fixing the game regardless of our opinion why would there be a forum section just dedicated to feedbacks anyways?

I agree it would be great if we had plenty of transparency of information on what’s going on behind the game mechanics, patches and everything. But they have their own reasons why not to share everything (and sometimes its just a simple structural problem such as bad documentation of the code). They already admitted the issue with the increased repair and teleport prices was a patch coming from the korean server itself. And they actually listened to the community and reverted it back to what it was.

totally agree with u

@mrshadowccg I’m sorry to blow your bubble, this is not RO, I’m taking my experience from hundreds of mmorpgs that I’ve played and not from one.
About socializing with players, it is my choice rather I want to or not, and by that I mean, I want the market, people can socialize near dungeon areas and in towns, but when grinding comes in hand, I want to do it my way, and not anyone else’s way, When you reach lvl 125+ dead zones are coming and you have to begin the phase of “running simulator” which you run for 30s to get to 1 mob back and forth, which is not grindy but stupid, and when people comes into the same place, it becomes even more dumb tbh.

As for bosses? yes I do agree that parties benefit more into boss because everyone gets the same loot, as for monsters? I’ve been in lanterns and other areas where monsters spawn continiously in a party of 5, but when i went away to try and get solo exp, I got more exp then being with the party in the consistent spawn of many mobs even when killing individual mobs around the area not around them.

I’m stating facts and not assumptions my friend, In other mmorpgs that I played people socialize when they want to in order to come together to the same ordeal, whether if its for dungeon purpose or boss purpose or grinding purpose, I should not be forced to do something I do not enjoy in an mmorpg.

If you like party? sure go ahead and join one, I want to have my spot without interference of other people coming and ksing everything I am trying to get, I’m wasting more time TRYING to kill mobs rather then actually getting exp in crowded areas, which is funny because its still more exp then being in the party, because they fight for the same mobs that get ksed divided by 5.

And yes, I have done instanced dungeons, and yes they’re not really solo possible if you’re at the same level as the dungeon, which is why you SHOULD get a party for this purpose.

More channels= Less bots indeed, when people are stuck in crowded areas and cannot even KS because they are DoT builds such as pyro or priest their best bet is either join a party (if they even can because most parties are filled) or stand there and afk trying to hit the air in hope for something to happen so maybe they’ll progress, BUT then again, there are people who do it out of bordome, I don’t necessarily say its going to solve everything but its gonna REDUCE it, as I said.

And about what you said about IMC trying to make the closed beta test and listen to people feedbacks, on the 3rd of nov patch they didn’t state the price changes they have put into the game, thus making us testers in a bad spot of getting mislead information, and on the 4th of nov, when they created the server Saule, They didn’t say the server is going to be 1x rate, which is IMPORTANT information for testers to see things out, although they changed it by now back to 3x.

Again, I’m stating facts and gathering information from many people and trying to put everything together to get it better for our community, I’m not here to argue, I’m here to listen, so please if you have information to add feel free.

And I have the feel to add this again, I’m stating facts, things that people are saying and feeling and doing, and out of experience in MANY games, not only one, The community is the decider of whats good for us, if we don’t like it we won’t “buy” it, simple as that.

Yeah, i have to agree with you…

The big problem is that party is useless except for tank and healer

“Even though the experience divides, you are killing faster with two (or more) players rather than just one. And in case you don’t know, there’s even a nice party exp bonus to motivate you to do it:”

You can’t kill faster than one shot, and there’s not enough monster to kill more monster in party

Same for boss i win 10 sec on a boss when i kill it with my friend Elementalist so it doesn’t change much

Actually the dungeon are the only reason to group, grouping outside of dungeon for now is ridiculous and counterproductive.

I don’t want them to add more channel but they should at least add 100 mobs per map, since after tennet chapel i found no map interesting to grind on without having to run more than kill, and i’m 123. I though this game was all about grinding and i find myself doin stupid quest all day. It’s really disapointing.

I Agree with some to most you guys have to say.
Even with all these problems this game has atm. (i. e. balancing) i still love this game.
It’s just beta and it’s like the best MMO i have played in a very long time and i have played a lot of them.
I trust IMC.

Alright. So i kind-of disagree though with the whole “we’re the Community”-thingy. don’t take me wrong. it’s a good thing. but i’m reading a lot AND I MEAN A LOT of BS some people write as feedback and what they should change.
Most people want that the game is holding their Hand and and always tell them what to do to get the most out of it. And want to over casualize this game. DONT DO THAT.
They said that this game will feature Eploring a lot and they courage it.
They courage it with hidden Quests and high-level Areas just next to low level Areas where you don’t even have to go. No one tells you to! This is good! They courage you to look what’s up there.

BUT, and this is a big BUTT, sometimes there is just not a whole lot to cover, you’re more searching the Area for NPCs to quest more like the area itself so there has to be something like a kind of interaction in those areas. i couldn’t make up a better example like harvesting-for-material-system but this would probably not suit the game all that well.
But it’s like after you’ve done the Quest and grinded there or something like that these Areas are just… empty…
Still the writing is good in most quests and then there are these UBERLY HIDDEN QUESTS.
i got Quests form NPCs in the first Areas of the game AFTER HITTING 100!
If you are past 100 you should for instance go to the Highlander Master, talk with him, destroy his EARTH Dummy and talk again with him. And this was just one of these very very hidden Quests.

I guess it’s a bit hard to balance this Party thing.
A Healer depends on the group so there should be people in need of a healer to even start up a party.
But a barbarian doesn’t even need the group since he’s so strong. so they gotta change him.
But nerving is probably against the favor of the players and would get rid of the point of the class.
There has to be another change to him, maybe that his skills aren’t costing SP but rather… HP?!
So he would need a healer to dish out his Damage! But there will probably a whole bunch of other problems coming with a change like this.
Also this wouldn’t make it easier for a tank. IMC gotta think of this one

The biggest and Obvious problem is the Playermarket at the moment, don’t need to even Name and explain this one.
But people are getting around this problem with the “Buy-in Shop” thingy. They could epand this one a bit. just a little bit. how about an animation, a stand, and the option for Equip to buy/sell or even Sell/Buy Packages, Sets and Bundles!

Monsters are nice in this Game!
THE ANIMATIONS, THE ARTSTYLE! ARGHHHH!!! <3
But they could make their stats more varied. they all seem pretty similar with an exception of some.

Gathering Material is another factor.
There are Materials which you gather from Monsters like a Cockatriel Feather. You instantly get it “i need do kill Cockatriels for this.”
But then there are Ores. “Wh… whuh… wwait… wha…?! ORES?! THERE’S MINIG IN THIS GAME?!” You would think. Wrong. you’re somehow supposed to know that these are just another thing to drop from a Monster.
doesn’t make a lot of sense right?
Maybe they could make natural Materials an item to search for rather than kill for.
They got a shovel at the shop lady! ( i know it’s for Alchemists )
but they could make similar Items like a Hoe for Leaves and Such for any class so they could dig up some ores. Oh but they shouldn’t make this like in Tera or Archeage where there SUDDENLY is a ore thingy spawning there it should have just an animation and then a text like “Nothing here” or the item dropping.
I’m not saying THIS IS THE WAY IT HAS TO BE. but having Ores and Natural stuff dropping form something i would expect meat or fur to drop just… confuses me…

I probably didn’t hit the the Topic with this post.
The cause of this is propably that i’,m very very sleepy.
I haven’t had a lot of sleep since this beta began.
I like this Game very much, but i still think that there are some things they could work and expand on.
But i just can’t think of a good point atm.
I’ll post again when i got one that hasn’t been named yet.

See you ingame
XOXO Kinora
