I’ve only noticed this on Telsiai, but it may have happened on other servers as well. Apparently the latest maintenance pruned quite a few channels from most, if not all maps, some more than others. For example, Kalejimas Visiting Room (259) had 6 or so channels before, whereas it only has 2 now.
They have some fixed number of servers and had to take some away from good grinding spots to give to low level maps for f2p. Another example of solid game design where only a few maps worth grinding on and the rest are horseshit
Well that doesn’t make a lot of sense. Telsiai is closed to F2P players, so I don’t understand why IMC would appropriate more channels to lower-level maps for them.
Edit: Nope, the lower-level maps got pruned as well. Both Tenet Chapel and Crystal Mines lost 2 channels per map.
I’m pretty sure that the number of channels is in a map is not server specific. I just assumed they gave more to low level channels because when the game first came out they had a ton of channels for lower level maps and then in patch a week or two later they shifted the channels around giving higher level maps more channels and it would make sense to me that with f2p they would shift some back to the lower level maps. However if there are just less channels across the board I would guess what happened is they had decided to cut server costs after seeing a global population decrease or since they had to add a new server they just made all the existing ones a bit smaller so they don’t have to pay much more for the new server.
Hmm, the latter makes more sense, although I suspect that the pruned channels may have had something to do with the “channel-based latency” issues that were plaguing Telsiai before the latest maintenance. This does make higher-level (200+) grinding spots into even more of a killstealing, zerg rushing mess though. Now you have 4-5 parties filling maps such as Storage whereas before you would only have 1-2.
