Swordsman Tree Improvements/Changes

Currently i feel like the swordsman tree is just one gigantic jumbled mess. there are so many classes that are in the “1 or 3 circles only” bucket, and it makes for a very bad time building a good character. i feel like a lot of skills are in the wrong spots, and it just makes for only allowing a hand full of builds to ever be good. there are SO many skills in the swordsman tree that are just freaking useless.

One of the concepts is the “master” trait, that serves as a bonus for reaching the third circle of a class. it provides a damage improvement to all attack skills for that class relative to the players level- this way attacks from the lower circles can stay relevant and not just ‘utility only’

Also pushing a larger focus on some swordsman classes for Stamina management.


Swordsman

  • Circle 1 Swordsman
  1. Move: Gung Ho to circle 2 - increase the Attack gains by 25% per point invested
  2. Move: Swashbuckling - to Circle 1 swordsman, and remove all weaponry requirements.
  3. Trait: Recovery roll - when a swordsman is knocked down, they now roll back to their feet allowing for a quicker recovery from knockdown skills.
  4. Trait: Shield block. should be a default swordsman skill.
  • Circle 2 Swordsman
  1. Remove: pommel beat
  2. Move: double slash - Move double slash to circle 2, leave the enhanced crit rate improvements as a circle 3 trait
  • Circle 3 Swordsman
  1. Skill: Combat roll- quickly roll in the direction moved. Defaults to backwards if no direction is pressed. consumes 2 stamina
  2. Trait: Combat roll - Increased evasion: Increases evasion by 10% while rolling. Increases stamina consumption by 1.
  3. Trait: Combat roll - Increased Resistance: Reduces magic damage taken while rolling by 10%. increases stamina consumption by 1.
  4. Trait: Combat Roll - Increased physical resilliance: Reduces damage taken by 10% while rolling. increases stamina consumption by 1.
  5. Trait: Combat roll - Wrecking ball: Rolling into targets now deals damage based on your overall weight. between 20-50% weight, Small targets will be knocked down, Between 50-70% weight, medium targets will be knocked down, overt 70% weight, large targets can be knocked down. Stamina consumption increases by 1 per weight class.
  6. Skill: Second Wind- Recovers all stamina instantly. (90 second recast)
  7. Trait: Third Wind - Recovers a 10% of HP/SP as well. Max level of 3. increases cooldown by 10s per tier of trait.
  8. Trait: Swordsmaster - Increases the damage of all swordsman skills relative to player level.

Peltasta

  • Circle 1 Peltasta
  1. Skill: Reprisal- Counter attack whenever you successfully block an attack. damage from counter increases by 10% per level.
  2. Trait: Reprisal - Increased Provoking: increases the provoking level of the target each time an attack is countered.
  3. Trait: Improved guarding- increases the block rate, and decreases the damage recieved when using Guard.
  • Circle 2 Peltasta
  1. Trait: Iron stance - Increases Knockdown/Knockback resistance by 10% per level. This value doubles while guarding.
  2. Change: Shield Lob: Remove targeting ring and charge bar. Skill now automatically targets based on this hierarchy Target lock > Mouseover Target> Closest target.
  3. Trait: Shield lob - Chain: your shield Now bounces to nearby Targets. Cooldown + 5 Seconds
  4. Trait: Shield Lob - Return: your shield returns immediately after using shield lob. Cooldown +5 seconds.

Highlander

  • Circle 1 Highlander
  1. Remove: Crossguard skill
  2. Trait: Crossguard - Allows for blocking with Secondary attack
  3. _ Skill_: Counterstance - Deliver a counter attack if a successufl block occurs during crossguard.

Hoplite

  • Circle 1 Hoplite
  1. Remove: shield requirement from Synchro thrusting.
  • Circle 2 Hoplite
  1. Remove: shield requirement from Long Stride.

Barbarian

  • Circle 1 Barbarian
  1. Trait: Savagery: Increases damage versus downed targets by 5% per level. Max 5 levels.
  2. Trait: Stomping Kick - Impact: Stomping kicks from sufficient height now knock down targets hit.
  3. Trait: Stomping Kick - Concussion: targets hit with stomping kick are staggered and unable to move for a few moments.
  • Circle 2 Barbarian
  1. Trait: Collossal blows: Increases AOE attack by 1 per level. max 5.
  2. Trait: Stomping Kick - Vault: If your stomping kick connects with a target, you are launched higher in the air compared to a normal jump. The height is based on the largest monster size hit by your stomping kick. Small targets: 50% higher jump, Medium 100% higher jump, Large 150% higher jump, Xl: 200% Higher jump.
  • Circle 3 barbarian
  1. Trait: Giant Swing- Collateral Damage: Reduces the number of revelations in the swing by 3/4ths, but allows the swinging monster to impact other nearby monsters. Impacted monster also recieves damage on collision.
  2. Trait: Warcry- Carrying voice: Warcry now hits a much larger area.

Corsair

  • Circle 1 Corsair
  1. Change: Trait- Treasure finding movement: Change the effect to be activated any time monster items are looted. as is this skill has litterally no value as is.
  2. Remove: Keel Hauling
  3. Trait: Iron Hook: Keel hauling. Cannot be active at the same time as Iron hook- Chain.
  4. Skill: Dirty Fighting- Critical hits have a chance to blind the target. Blinded targets are more susceptible to Pillaging.
  • Circle 2 Corsair
  1. Trait: Jolly Roger- X Marks The Spot: Adds a chance to pillage treasure maps from targets, that unveil the location of treasures in that zone.
  2. Fix: Dual Weapon assault - Attacks automatically chain while holding attack.
  • Circle 3 Corsair
  1. Trait: Foothold - 15% Chance to ignore Traps and spell circles. Max
  2. Skill: Powderkeg- Place a powder keg on the ground that explodes after a certian amount of damage is dealt. 3 charges, 30 second recast. Fire damage, Pistol attacks, and cannon attacks instantly detonate the powder kegs.
  3. Trait: Powderkeg- Increased Payload: Increases the Area of Effect for Powderkeg
  4. Trait: Powderkeg - Stockpile: Removes charges from Powderkeg. Powder keg now places 3 kegs simultaneously.

Shinobi

  • Circle 1 Shinobi
  1. Trait: Aerial Recovery - Jumping when thrown cancels knockback animation.
  2. Trait: Double Jump - Able to execute a secondary Jump (Additional jumps consume 2 stamina).
  3. Trait: Fumma Shuriken - Increases the Area of effect for each shuriken thrown with kunai, and changes the animation to throwing fumma shurikens. Increases cooldown by 4 seconds.
  4. Trait: Ambidexterity - increases offhand weapon damage.
