Swordies needs more buffs and way much better status

New gem´s status are great (maybe the green ones not that great)… really its a really good way to improve dmg in swordies, even better than spending months in leveling a monster card.

Yet, Swordies are supposed to be the toughest classes, according to tradicional Role playing games, so please, please do something about the lame status of swordies.

1.- Health growth should be greater when investing in Con… I mean, GREATER…! To relay in some equipment and red gems in top/bottom equip it shouldn’t supposed to be a choice for a swordsman class, but for other classes, like wizards and clerics.

2.- Physical defense. I mean really? is this even a status? cuz even with plate equipment, the physical defense is not noticeable when a regular monster lvl+200 hits you 1.4k dmg in one hit… I can work that magic dmg cant be avoidable or that it has greater dmg in swordies (cuz that is how it traditionally works: swordsmans are weak against magic dmg) but physical defense should be something you can easily notice in swordies class.

3.- Debuff inmunity… This one its up to consideration, but i think that swrodies should have higher crit resistance and at least higher de-buff resistance, if not, inmunity. Specially for those who goes into tanking build (with swordies… even tho, at this point in game we know that the real tanker are the cryo… why? i dont know…), Swordies are supposed, and I wont be tired or repeating this, ARE SUPPOSED to be the toughest classes, I dont mean the more powerful but at least the hardcore sons of bitches hard to kill!!! yet swordies are weak against everything… EVERYTHING!!!

Please, IMC Devs, do something to make swordies great again (if they ever where)… the new status of gems are great, but not quite what we need in this class.

Also, i´ll finish this post with my typical request of creating a swordie-magical class… A samurai class focused on magic aoe dmg, like the samurai class from Final Fantasy Tactics… man that was an awesome class to play with. Think about it, ok, a 2h sword (katana) class that uses the spirits of the blade by awaking them.

Thanks and farewell.
Orwald R. Mallory.

Sure. Let’s make swordies not only the top DPS tree, but also immune to every physical thing out there. But wait! Let’s also make them deal magical damage! Because what’s a physical attacker if it can’t use magic, right?

You, sir, need to read correctly and stop extrapolating.
Anyhow, sarcasm is always welcome, because… why give an actual critical response when you can make fun of things, right?!

This topic has been beaten over the head with a tree many times.
Problems were solved with Rank 8 came out with Murmillo. That was IMC’s fix for the swordsman class.

Also, you should’ve posted in Suggestion/Feedback page. Maybe someone in staff will listen to you.

What class does OP use? If he’s using GungHo buff then need to consider the fact that it does take about 10% defense away.

Also P.DEF is significant if you run Guardian, use a shield, have P.DEF headgear enchants etc.

1.- I did not knew of the relationship between high defense and health growth. . . In my build having 16k hp is not enough for the 1.4k hits regular monsters deals at lvl +200. Even using Cross Guard the defense/block rate is very low and quite painful when mobbed.

2.- As I said, using Cross Guard is handy when there are not too many monsters, but it sucks with large mob and most bosses.

3.- That kind of immunity is a 3rd party skill, not an innate ability or attribute to swordsmans… But then again, it doesn’t have to be immunity, just a bit of high endurance to CC skills and other similar debuffs would be fine.

4.- If there is a Shinobi, there could be a chance for Samurai.

5.- To steal, by definition, is to take “something” without the permission of the rightful owner. To propose is not to steal. And thanks for the obvious annotation of ToS not being FF. . . perhaps the preposition “like” was not stated clear by me.

Thanks for replying!

I stopped using Gung-Ho since… i dunno, the 3rd time I re-rolled my swordie I think.

Shields and Guardian skill are not a choice for a 2H swordie, the best skill we have to match the last one is Cross Guard, which works nice in most cases.

Btw… I once saw a hair acc. that looked like some fang-earings, but couldnt afford it at the time. Now I just cant find such acc. in tosbase, I want one if it is for the 3rd acc. slot, and I´ve wanted it exactly to try and get some p.def stats from it. . . Do you know of this hair acc.?!

Thanks…!

Well I’m going for Doppel c3, I just hope I can actually get to rank 8… gonna need to invest a lot of points in Con if i ever want to get there.

I wanted to hear other players opinions more than actually suggest something to devs. . . but yeah, my bad to post it here in general discussion.

Anyways, thanks for replying…!

Dont invest in Con as Dopple. You can get HP via other means. You can breach 35k hp without con investment.

No. What you’re asking is for swordsmen to be OP with no effort.
You have 16k HP at level 200 as a swordsman ? Then it means you didn’t invest CON (and bad gear I guess). Why should swordsmen have a big HP pool without investing CON ?
My main Cleric has barely more HP than a non-tank swordsman while I invested almost twice the CON (not counting headgears, gems, etc., of course). How isn’t that good enough ? Swordsmen already have a bigger HP pool.

If you give perfect blocking, immunity, etc., to swordsmen, then why the hell will you need a full party and a Priest ?
Once again, you just want swordsmen to be OP and be able to do everything on their own, and have all the skills.
I guess I can agree with a skill/attribute that would give like 5% chances to ignore a CC/debuff though.

If you want a tanky toon, then you go more towards the tanky path with tanky classes/skills, more CON, and you wear a shield.
Even without investing any/much CON a swordsmen won’t be squishy like other classes, they’ll still have quite a lot of HP.
You can’t expect them to get a ton of HP per every points in CON, have better defense, some partial/total immunities, while still going the full/mostly DPS way. It’s just stupid.

I would just want variety for swordsmen. Most of the builds look the same to me.

  • multiplier buff / debuff -> strong skills -> fillers -> repeat

The funny thing is, if you know how the Swordman class works all 3 points are actually fulfilled.
But if you have no clue - well duh. XD

Miko is coming Onmyouji is still in the greyarea of unknown, Luchador and Matador which might also come are more Spanish/Mexican killtime entertainment/sport. Our monk class is basically chinese wuxian kung-fu guys

You should care less about story driven world setting being true to itself specially when the koreans are writing it.
I mean Krivis are the true Lithuanian priests yet catholic based Paladins and Priest got more focus.

are you kidding me? i got 2 swordies and 2 archers at high lvl and i have to say that swordsmen are at a very good spot, my hoplite dragoon has insane dps output and can even ET
don’t see a reason to buff anything.
A swordsman can get more than 30k hp with 0 con, fencers doppels and dragoons are the highest dps chars in the game
doppels and dragoons can ET easily
catagoons and catalancers are great in pvp
i don’t see any problem with swordsmen, it might be your gear though, i know swordies with 2k phyiscal def and 2k magical def.
if you want more physical defense put yellow gems on your gear.
if you want magic def buy nuaele cards and put blue gems on your boots (windrunner is good for that) Swordies are at a great spot, no need to do anything. Maybe some archers classes need a buff.

I understand your feelings. Swordsmen continue to worsen and worsen, and they hit ‘the wall’ at around level 200 which makes it very frustrating to play. However, at R8 a lot changes. IMC cranked the DPS to max, and because everything hits hard it just kind of becomes the new norm. In short, grind past the pain of pre-R8 and you’ll be on par once more.

Maybe I DO want an OP swordie… The high DPS side of swordies only comes at the last 2 ranks, meanwhile, they are pretty darn soft.

I haven’t invested enough in Con, as you observe, only 20 points because the crit rate is a must in a class that is focused on melee, as well as Str is. As for your question, Swordsmen should have a really big hp pool, in comparison to other classes, because they are supposed to be the tank-dps class… I think i have said this quite a lot: Swordsman class is supposed to be the toughest class in any RPG game because of tradition… and that a Cryo (wizard) does a better job a tankin, or a better job a dealing CC debuffs… seems quite off, dont you agree?

Once again, Im not asking for perfect blocking, nor actual immunity, but to answer a question, a ask you the same: In the first 5 or 6 ranks, why do you need an swordie in your party, if not for the exp bonus and/or the agro ability? Remember that the high DPS is only for the late ranks, more for the rank8.

Thanks again for replying…!

Yeah… I kind of hope everything will be fun again once i´ll reach rank8… But then, the neurotic thoughts invade me, specially because i´ve re-rolled my swordie about 7 time (mostly for experimenting)… What if, once the rank9 comes or a rank where the 2H swordie continues (cuz it dies with doppel c3), my build becomes useless or simply hits a dead end?!

Anyhow, reading all this comments kind of set my mind at ease. Thanks for replying…!

Yup, after reading all the feedback I kinda thinks my problem with swordies is due to still being at lower rank (rank 6).
