Swift Step vs Overestimate (Archer 2 vs Appraiser)

Swift Step gives 150 crit rate. Overestimate increases the enhancement of your offhand by +3.

If better gear gives more and more crit chance, won’t Swift Step fall off later? On the other hand, Overestimate seems to scale well with strong weapons.

Does anyone know which one is more valuable in the long term?

I think it should not be swift step vs overestimate but it should be “swift step vs blindside”.
You can’t really compare 2 unrelated stuff.
Both blindside and swift step have their positives.
Swift step is a buff.So it also takes a buff slot. Also has decent evasion bonus. Uptime is really good.
Blindside is a debuff. Since it is actual attack so it can be evaded and blocked, and debuff can be resisted. Uptime itself is bad. The damage it deals is insanely good.
I don’t know the exact value crit rate blindside gives.

If you have a leeway to get appraiser at any part (r5/r6/r7/r8) get it. Else skip it.

My 1st thought will be if i can get both archer c2 and appraiser in same build.
Next will be to see if the build is offhand based.

So what your topic was “swift step vs overestimate”. I would say overestimate is only needed for offhand builds, so if its a non offhand dependent build then forget appraiser.
But according to what i think “swift step vs blinside”, in some cases if you can do then get appraiser bcz blindside itself is really good on its own.

why even bother to compare both we u can get both job? a2-r2-app-sr3

i’m using archer c3> wugi c2> aprraiser c1> musket c2 and im more of a blindside user  it’s so wonderful <3 but not recommending my build… that’s my preference…

If I’m correct from my past researching, Blindside’s debuff gives 10% crit chance.

I guess it depends on if they decide to start giving monsters more crit resist. The crit rate and resist you get per level equal out even on monsters, so you’re always going to be near 0 rate base for enemies at your level. So I don’t see it falling off at any point, personally.

If you can squeeze both in your build, do it. If not, I would say prioritize Appraiser for a Musketeer (unless you want to use Archer2’s bow skills/Kneeling) and prioritize Archer2 for everything else.

Isn’t R3 good for Bounce Shot, Spiral Shot, and better Steady Aim?

I guess I should’ve mentioned this is in context of SR builds. To me Swift Step and Overestimate are similar in terms of use (45ish second buffs that you keep up most of the time) and I was comparing their damage gain. Appraiser does of course come with nice other abilities. The builds I am considering are A2R3SR3, A2R2appraiserSR3, and A1R3appraiserSR3. I’m wondering which has the best synergy and future proof benefits.

@LunarRabbit pls if you can help this player.

Depends on what you want to do.

Even if you invest a lot you can’t get a surprisingly high Critical Chance, 150 is A LOT even if you’re too geared. It’s high to the point you notice instantly when Swift Step buff wears off because it reduces the odds that you’re doing critical hits.

If you’re going all the way to gear your character too much and prolly even Orange Weapons/Solmiki gears and focusing on Critical Rate, Swift Step for me is the most viable in long term.

If you know you won’t be focusing on Critical Rate nor gearing too much, Appraiser can do the job with buffs and debuffs. I honestly don’t like it because Blindside is an applied debuff over AoE so you won’t crit that much on really big groups or map-wide farming. As far as Blindiside is strong against bosses, it is not necessary. Overestimate can be good but if you’re going to plan on long term gearing, you do get decent bonus from example +13 to +16 but as example of my playstyle, I wouldn’t trade +3 anvil state to the extra Critical Rate I get from Swift Step.

Also, if you’re going Ranger C2 route, I also prefer full Ranger C3 over Ranger C2 Appraiser 1 for the extra Bounce Shot AoE, which in turns, require a good crossbow and to be geared to make use of the AoE skills Ranger gives.

Everything falls on “what you want to do”. For a dungeon slave, yeah, Appraiser, cheap silver making with less investment.

Also to note, Blindside will aggro mobs; if you aren’t well geared you might be surprised with mobs ravaging all over you.

But other hand, you can easier luring mobs, better in farming

i’m too lazy to use overestimate

swift step have longer duration
