Support character for magic dps?

If you don’t mind me sharing my opinion, here’s what I’d recommend:
The must have:

  • lv 5 Barrier
  • lv 10 Sanctuary
  • lv 5 Conviction (another debuff material for Incineration, synergizes with Smite and God Smash)

The remaining 25 skill points can be distributed to your preference and play style:

  • lv 1+ Smite if you want to go with 1 handed mace for your solo content. Take at least 1 point for its Knockback CC. Otherwise max it if you are going to ignore Demolition and 2H mace.
  • lv 1-3 Restoration. For attributes. Some people go as high as maxing it, but imo if you have heal 10 from Cleric you don’t need to max it.
  • lv 0-10 Demolition: more on it below
  • lv 0-X Turn Undeads: lv 3 for attributes. Otherwise ignore it if you don’t plan to convert monster. Some people throw their leftover points here. Up to preference and playstyles. I usually ignore it.
  • lv X-15 Resist Elements: I usually put my leftover points here.

*Demolition:
Pro:
It’s stronger AoE skill compared to Smite. Stuns enemy with attribute and crazy strong for Rank 6 skill.
5 skill points less to max compared to Smite.

Con:
Requires 2 handed mace. Some people argue that it is too expensive to invest in both 2 handed mace as well as 1 handed mace and shield (Sanctuary build). What they seem to forgot is that you only need shield for channelling Sanctuary. You can leave your main hand blank and auto swap weapon between 2H mace for demolition to empty hand and shield for Sanctuary. If this is not an issue for you, I’d go with 2H mace and demolition as it boosts all your Paladin and Inquisitor’s skills.

Here’s my paladin skill distribution (he’s a hybrid solo DPS and party support)

Thanks for the info!

I already have a Skull Smasher + Emengard Shield, so i don´t know if it would be wise to go for two-handed mace… Smite seems really lackluster though, but i guess i should focus on the damage of my PD and Inqui skills?

Smite helps if you are starting new character and levelling solo. It will be your first physical attack skill in your chosen build, unless you take Carve in Diev 1. But since you are pairing up with your buddy it is probably not an issue for you.

Take at least 1 point for knockback CC and dump the remaining points into Resist Elements, Restoration or Turn Undeads (whichever fits your fancy).

And yes, PD2 and Inquis will be your main damage skills (aside than cleric heal bombs).

I’m already 230, so i guess Smite will stay at level 1.

How does Turn Undead work?

Damages enemies in AoE fan in front of you. So so damage against other races.
If your enemies are demon/undead it may instant kill them on probability. Scales in proportion with SPR.

Some ppl swear it is as high as 60-80% but I’m not sure myself. It does not work that well when I tested it myself during skill reset. Ended up using it as aggro skill to gather mobs closer to me for Wheel-Conviction-God Smash combo.

50s CD. 2 overheats.

Chance to convert up to 5 mobs with attribute. Not too sure about probability. Maybe someone else more experienced with this skill can weigh in. Maybe @greyhiem or @Wurmheart ?

From my own limited test, I think it only worth whatever leftover points that you can spare…

50s cd, 2 overheats, medium cone AoE in front of you that deals dmg and attempts to 1hitko normal demons and mutants.
I say normal because I couldn’t get it to work in et or in dungeons, though it may just have a reduced chance of killing them instead.

Not sure about the specific % either, but it does work quite well with high spr amounts.

The trickier part is its c2 attribute that converts mobs:

  • Has a 1% to convert any normal mob it hits per skill level.
  • Mobs converted do not give drops or exp.
  • Converted mobs die after 10 minutes.
  • They scale with 50% of your str, 50% of your weapons matk and gain +0.3% dmg per spr. But their base dmg and attack speed is really horrible regardless.

Essentially only spr builds can pull some decent dmg out of them, and they are far worse in that regard compared to zombies or owls.
They do agro mobs better though and can use a few neat skills like enchant fire etc, for all other stat builds it’s best to see them as support.

It’s not that bad though, and it can compete with smite imo. Just keep in mind it’s basically useless in dungeons and ET as far as I know.
