Support character for magic dps?

Hey there, i’m back after some time, and i want to level a new character to support a friend who is a magic dps.

What can be the best choice to support him? Any class tree is fine, i just want to pick the best support possible.

Any ideas  ?

Depends on which class is he…
I have Thaumaturge 3 for atk buffs, Cleric for heals and Peltasta for taunt.
But even a Falconer 3 with Aiming can be a support xD

Good point!

I can pick anything you listed above, the problem is that i lost track of the builds and reworked skills and stuff, so even if i pick something, i have no idea how to build it :frowning:

On forum and on Tosbase there are a lot builds.
Just pick what do you prefer and search on Tosbase or ask in forum.
Which class is your friend?

I know, i used to visit tosbase a lot before R9…

My friend is still figuring out his build, all we know is that he will have some DPS classes on his wizzard, with cryo for CC. This is mostly for fun purposes but i don’t want to pick something too randomly… :stuck_out_tongue:

Any support builds suggestions?

It depends on what type of magic dps build you friend is doing. Is he going for the many multi-hits small damage build or the single hit huge damage build?

For those few hits but heavy hitter type, going wizard with Thaumaturge helps a lot. Vice versa for many multi hits type of build, going cleric that gives each hit additional damage will be much better, skills like Krivis’s Aukuras or Inquisitor’s Malleus Maleficarum are good examples of such skills.

Besides boosting damage as support, there are also other types of support you can look at, for example, reducing cooldown timings with Wizard’s Chronomancer or Cleric’s Dievdirby. If your friend’s build has big heavy consumption you can choose Kabbalist to serve as a SP battery.

Finding the best support should start with your friend’s build. Knowing that then we can recommend and tailor a build that is specifically built to support him.

Wiz C1 > Pyro C1 > Linker C1 > Thm C3 > Sorc C1 > Shdwmcr C2

Great support, and pretty dayum OP.

Thanks! He decided to go Cryo2>Kino3>RC>Enchanter2

Any suggestions :D? I prefer not to pick another wizz class… I would’ve pick full spr priest to boost his ice wall + pressure combo, but now that pardoner shop blessing doesn’t have a hit count, i don’t know what to pick D:

I think a Thaumaturge would be really nice for the damages boost.
You’d want a build that can help with the cd, boost his damages, and/or help CC/group mobs, I’d say.
If you don’t want a Wizard though, I guess you’ll have to go the Cleric path. Cleric 2 for Heal (base support, the shield might help him too), Dievdirbys 1 for the -20% time on his cooldowns.
Then you can go Sadhu 3, and you’d be able to give him 60% of your INT. Paladin could also help protect/boost him a bit. Inquisitor’s wheel also triggers the ice wall. Technically you could also go the Monk path so you could trigger the ice wall.
I agree that Priest can be redondant because of the Pardoners’ shop. It’s not worth using 3 circles just for a slightly better buff. But it is still nice for Res though.

Thanks for your help!

If i build a Cleric2>Diev1>Pala3, what else could i pick?

I guess that if i pick Pala3 i should go full SPR… Can Inqui bring something to the table? Is Inqui2 any good?

I would recommend Kabbalist (sp battery) or Plaque Doctor (lv1 and 2 debuff immunity and healing factor) for rank 7.

For rank 8 & 9, Zealot 2 is the ideal route for SPR build. I usually hit 1st or 2nd on dungeon 300 runs by Blind Faith and Fanaticism alone (even with crappy Reine mace). I know you said this is support class, but it would be nice regardless to be able to kill stuff on your own when soloing.

Inquisitor 1 is also a good pick to complement your synergy with Paladin’s Conviction. God Smash, Malleus Maleficarum and Breaking Wheel are great choices to kill mobs fast. Even as SPR build, with good weapon you would still be viable DPS.

Inquisitor 2 is not really worth it unless PvP is your focus. I would recommend picking another class after Inquisitor 1 (Taoist or Zealot 1).

Or you can go even Kabbalah 3 as another support option. With higher level Ein Sof and Paladin’s Barrier devotion attribute, you can tank damage for your friend. If you are interested in this route, Nekorin is probablr the person to ask more questions.

@elaties Thanks for the advice

Im not that bothered with my DPS, as i said my priority is to be a good support, as i already have other characters to play pvp/pve, but i know DPS its still the most important thing in this game.

As i don’t know much about the new classes, what does Zealot bring as support?

@Nekorin What can Kabba3 bring as support, ein sof aside?

Kabbalist is a Math support class. it has 3 spells which multiplies damage, each catering to a different type of use.

  1. Double Chance is for those heavy 1 hitter types of damage. Available at C2

  2. Gevurah caters to all styles of hits, doubles damage for a small calculated number of hits. Available at C3

  3. Merkabah (attributed) grants a 10% extra damage as an additional line attack per hit landed on a monster debuffed with the wheel. Suitable for those who specialises in dealing multiple hits at a go. Available at C2 due to attribute requirements.

Besides the above and Ein Sof. Kabbalist also brings in Revenge Sevenfold, which grants the party a 1 hit shield. During the pre-damage rework, this skill is more valuable as monsters have damage that will 1hko the party. Now it isn’t really that good for pve.

For your friend’s build of Wiz1>Cryo2>Kino3>RC>Enchanter2, there are a few areas in which you can look into.

Firstly is due to not having Surespell, the classic Icewall+Pressure combo will get easily interrupted if a monsters manages to hit him. Hence a support who is able to keep pressure off your friend will be great. Next RC> Enchanter2 route grants your friend the giant lightning hands auto attack stomp attack, which most likely he will be using together with Magnetic Force which will pull monsters together while his burst dps is having downtime.

Lastly his build is rather hybrid, having Enchanter C2 and Kino3 means his build is good as a party support character where he can crowd control and hold monsters while other party members attack.

For a non priest cleric support for such a build, I recommend the hybrid Cleric2 X Paladin3 PD2 Inquisitor1. Reasons is as follows:

  • Paladin C3 offers Sanctuary, which boosts magic damage based off your magic defence (non buffed). This is a good alternative to other damage boosters such as Aukuras or blessing. Having access to Barrier also helps in keeping your friend safe while he executes his Icewall Pressure burst.

  • Inquisitor C1 grants Malleus Maleficarum, which is a great damage booster. You can also help with icewall dps using Breaking Wheel too, but channelling Sanctuary will be much better imo lol.

  • As your friend is running a hybrid dps/support styled build, you can compliment him by having access to DPS skills too while he is supporting. 2 circles of Plague Doctor is good for aoe dps. PD also grants some immunity to status effects in the support category too. With his enchanter buffs, your DoTs will deal more damage too.

Now for the X in the build, there are few choices which I recommend

  • Priest1 - For ress.
  • Dievdirby1 - Mainly for Laima statue, as your friend’s build has rather long cooldowns. Laima has an alternate use of pulling some monsters too.
  • Bokor1 - There are 2 reasons for bokor choice here. First is zombies help with aggroing monsters and am able to hold some aggro/serve as distraction while you both prep for the big damage combo. Second reason is Bokor’s Hexing works relatively well with PD’s Pandemic to mass reduce monster’s mdef (although it isn’t that much for level5).

Last but not least, with Paladin3 PD2 Inq1 as a hybrid support, the build doesn’t gimp you when your friend isn’t around. You can still solo and function efficiently. And when your friend is around, both your builds will compliment each other, each taking turns to rotate between support and dps.

Kino c3 has a attribute to not get interrupted on hit

Thanks for the correction. I’m still green when it is on skills outside of clerics T_T.

Admittedly, Zealot 2 won’t bring much to the table as party support class. Most of its skills are offense focused and self buffs. I only mentioned it as Blind Faith and full SPR is really strong in this release. Too strong that I’m really scared another IMC nerf is coming in the near future.

Inquisitor 1 at least brings Malleus Maleficarum debuff and Breaking wheel that benefits party.

Taoist 1 offers Stormcalling, Dark Sight, Creeping Death charm and Tri-Disaster (the last one is debatable).

Kabbalah 3 's Merkabah Divine Protection attribute and Gevurah supposedly add another support layer. But I have been hearing confliction opinions about it.

I’d let Nekorin to share expert opinions on this.

Since your friend is building kino enchanter I think a falconer would make a great support. You could also add hunter3 in there and both of you would potentially destroy challenge mode.

Though I also think your friend’s build is a bit lacking on the DPS department and is actually kind of a CC and support guy himself, so a DPS healer would actually fill in the holes better. For this I recommend a zealot

As a Kino3 main myself, Nekorin is right about his point, as knockbacks/knockdowns interrupts Psychic Pressure even with the attribute learned, which is annoying af xD

@Nekorin

I really thank you for taking all that time to help me to figure out the best support for my friend, and i think you did a great job

I’m really inclined to pick Cleric2>Diev1>Pala3>PD2>Inqui… How much behind is it on the dps department compared to Zealot?

@Kihseki Hey there  What does hunter3 add to “destroy” challenge mode? Isn’t falconer’s future rework getting in the way?

growling + aiming still incredibly good CC. Aiming will also benefit gravity pole and psychic pressure a lot, as well as lightning hands

@Kihseki what class path do you recommend? Archer2>Hunter3>Falconer3>??
