🌄 Give us a new server to escape to!

I am not going to fully agree with this idea only because if they create a new server probably it wont be a “specific region” server but a NA server. Even though the “SA server” isnt really a SA server, we have the promise that they’re going to find a host for into on south america until 2045.

The current situation is just ridiculous. The 5 biggest and “strongest” guilds on Silute are 100% exploiters. Gotta wait for tuesday’s patch and see what happens. There’s no way we can compete with accounts with 999999999999 TP still unbanned and now +25 weapons/bots/silver dup/World Boss crash domination.

I have a lot of stuff too, but in this case only a wipe might keep this game going. The wipe will make a lot of players stop playing? Yes. But at least they’re doing something other than trying to make us forget with cute TP shop pets and costumes/KToS updates.

In theory. We have to also consider that it won’t.

First and foremost they need to begin killing off exploiters and bots in a decisive and expedient way. Only once they prove capable of this should we consider options that might serve to distract them from this purpose. Bot lords like monohime still live.

You won’t need to worry, because nobody is going to start over. If they opened a new server now, OP and like 10 other people would restart there. Most people don’t really care enough about the exploits to want to ‘start fresh,’ they just want the people involved banned.

Curious :
How would a new server guarantee that no bugs are being exploited, no hordes of bots thrown around and no RMTing going on?
Just creating a new server solves none of these problems, and while in the beginning everyone would start on the same ground it won’t take long for bug exploiters, goldfarmers and cheaters to move on to the new server.

Server merges are almost never a good idea. In my 12 years of MMORPG experience server merges almost always result in a large (>50%) long-term playercount loss.

So basically your plan is to give people two choices :
Either make them start from scratch (will piss off alot of people who worked for months to get what they have now) or leave them to their fate on the current servers which will suffer from a high player loss (will piss off alot of people aswell.).

I never understood whats so appealing about a new server for “a fresh start”… it’s not like it’s going to level out the playing field nor will it stop the baddies. Powerlevelers will still be ahead, botters will still be able to bot, exploiters will still be able to exploit. I guarantee you, at most after 2 months of the start of a new server you’ll have the same situation as you have on current servers. Creating a new server just shoves the problem under the carpet for a while, but sooner or later the problems will come back because the problems themselves are not solved by just putting people on a new server.

Creating new servers is not a solution, the “disease” will just spread over to the new server. Fixing the exploits and permanently and agressively removing the exploiters/rule breakers without mercy is the only way to effectively fight these bad situations.

There is a reason why I don’t like new server idea, mainly it give bad results on RO. I don’t see it will bring good results to ToS either (Oh we got Yggdrasil and Ymir server, 6 months later merged with Chaos lol)

New server is basically the run away place for losers who can’t compete or lose their RMT sources… If you play for fun and legit you can just play on old server… RO’s new servers are just RMT fields, people complains then they just come back to old server or leave…

Nope creating a new server isn’t going to help solve the problem at all. Neither is wipe, the former is just running away from the problem temporary and the latter is just like its name… wiping the game off most of the currently dwindling players.

My suggestions is as follows:

For the PVP perspective, what IMC can do to minimise the exploitation is to negate some stuff just for pvp, e.g.

  • Skill Attributes (damage increase attributes cap at 20% for PVP)
  • Weapons and gear (All awaken, +upgrades function as though as they don’t exist for PVP)

This keeps PVP more to vanilla skill style and is easier for IMC to balance without worrying of players with OP gear unbalancing their data. This is also easier for them to code for just for PVP.

For PVE wise, one of the ways is to go through the logs weekly. Even if they don’t have logs previously, they can start creating this following maintenance (which they do will as it is a major patch). Sift thru the item logs to find dubious items, like +15 with full potential and suspend the accounts associated with them.

Backend wise, create a script to snapshot the channel data when it crash. Crash information is extremely important, although the channel data is corrupted, there will still be some salvageable parts of it. If the data contains a list of playerIDs in the channel within the moment it is corrupted, it becomes a lot easier to sift out which player crashes the channel.

can they do server inventory wipe? i mean it’s in the EULA/Terms of Service but are they technically capable?

If they do that it also means they don’t care for the majority of legit players too. Many players farm and bled without exploiting anything to get to what they are/have now.

We don’t know how deep the infection goes, so we just nuke the entire city before it spreads? sound like a typical jombie movie plot.

edit, to answer the qn:
Yes, they sure can do that technically.

Ive worked my way and kinda lazy to level but I have lvl 235 templar and a 273 musk. I pretty much completed my musk gears (max peta 2 sissel maga bow) and level 50 skill attributes on 2 of my skills.

If this happens, I will consider thinking about it. But I know it won’t happen.
