🌄 Give us a new server to escape to!

_“The Goddess commands us to leave this terrible place.”_

Why this is needed:

IMC lacks the manpower and/or the tools to clean up the current mess. Being split between two game versions and short on money and people, they are unable to fix up either one of them effectively.

Before you read any further, it’s important to understand what the patch version merge is intended to accomplish. This is very simple. iToS has exploits that go unfixed for so long because IMC has split a tiny development team between two redundant versions of the same game. And kToS gets things fixed first. We’ve been getting the sloppy seconds this entire time.

After the merger, response times to exploits will improve. They won’t be perfect. They’ll still probably be bad by industry standards. But it will be better. This is not white knighting - it is simply logic.

Now that you understand this, you can make sense of IMC’s current game plan: push the kToS patch, ending the “split development resources” problem, while closing the current exploits, and then try to sweep the whole thing under the rug with distracting events.

But even with improvements in exploit response time, the plan isn’t good enough! Our servers are tainted forever by people with infinite TP and silver from the boleto incident, channel crashing for infinite upgrades (and possibly dupes), and guilds who have established dominance abusing channel crashing and the infinite party bug for cube hunting.

What we need is a new beginning in the new era of sort of better exploit fixing.

How to make it work:

  1. No transfers to the new server(s). The taint cannot be allowed to spread. Absolutely nothing can make its way from the old servers to the new one, not characters, items, not TP.

Alternatively, allow the transfer of characters with extreme restrictions: 100,000 silver max, no items or equipment of any kind (except quest stuff), and every single attribute reset to 0. Collections are probably OK to transfer too.

  2. Give individuals who purchased a Founder’s Pack a complete and brand new one on the new server. Give them exactly one, of the highest tier that they purchased, so that the subhumans who abused the boleto exploit and regional pricing arbitrage start off no better than anyone else.

For example, if you bought the top tier package and managed to gift yourself 20 bottom tier packages, you just get the contents of the top tier package and nothing else.

  3. After the mass exodus of what remains of the legit community, merge the old servers as much as necessary. I think a lot of people would jump at the chance for a fresh start, and it’s going to cause extreme depopulation on the broken servers.

  4. Launch a “New Beginnings” event specific to the new server with beefy increases to XP. Even 100% for several weeks is OK. People will be more interested in starting over or giving ToS another try if it’s easier to get back into. Don’t increase monster spawn rates or anything that would lead to an increased production of silver. Silver is the enemy.

This plan is not dependent on the ability of IMC to effectively ban every single exploiter to resolve the current disaster. IMC can’t wipe, either - it will cause a catastrophic revenue loss to a company that is obviously struggling to stay afloat.

But inaction will be just as bad - what remains of the legit community is going to leave this game forever if they are not permitted some means of escaping the broken servers. I want you to think of the revenue lost, IMC. I feel terrible about my $50 dollar USD investment in this game. My money has been abused, and I deserve more than what I got. So does everybody else who dreamt about Tree of Savior being an improvement on Ragnarok Online.

Let’s dream of a new Tree of Savior! Unspoiled virgin lands, freed from the sinful exploiters, and on the slightly less exploitable kToS patch cycle!

GMs, please, do whatever you can to make sure this is delivered, translated and completely understood to people in charge of this game. Their plan of sweeping all of this under the rug isn’t going to work. A huge number of players are holding their breath right now, and they’re going to leave forever if something doesn’t happen to protect them from the exploits.

So what about the people who dont abuse, and already spent tons of hours on their character such as farming silver, and etc. Do they need to start new? i dont think so and this is not fair for people who got no idea whats is going on.

Then they can stay on the old server, with the exploiters and the broken economy. I’ve farmed probably 30 million silver and I’d kiss it all goodbye in an instant if it meant escape from a broken economy. You need to understand that IMC cannot and will not make things better on the old servers. That fight has been lost. You must consider other options.

They probably will do some merges, and do what they did in kToS, where they implemented a seasonal server with a 3 month transfer restriction and boosted exp as well as lower attribute costs. Probably in the future, maybe.

Actually, if you destroy their progress, they’ll more likely than naught just quit, even if you try to entice them. With people, I realize they whine about the same repeated things, but only a handful of people actually mean it; shepherding comes to the effect. That said, alot of people don’t want to lose their progress because ~5 months on this game is pretty long in terms of what you could have done.

Say for instance, people whining about the spawn rates. I don’t think tons of people would grind the lands, a good number would though. Most people just want the higher spawns to complete quests faster and without running around the map.

Also keep in mind a high amount of botters actually did purchase the $30 or $50 Founder pack as I see the bulk of them running around with costumes before the Token event.

The way I see it: This community will always be the same. You have peeps like Mirarara who successfully trolls the populace multiple times simply because it’s hilarious. You’ll always have exploiters like Kirito and his band of goons who’ll find bug related advantages because they don’t know how to play better. You’ll always find people who’ll take the bug enhanced road in games like these types of games; it’s as inevitable as death.

No amount of rebirths, restarts, or wipes can save you from the toxicity of the players. In other MMOs, hacks and exploits regularly happen and most aren’t quickly remedied. Hell, I know in Elsword one can still temper their connection via Third party program to always lag out of PvP scenarios. If IMC were more proactive or had someone who knows of these shenanigans, things would get done much quicker. But I don’t think I agree with a brand new server abolishing everything done. It’d sound like,

“Hey saviors! We have made a brand new server for everyone to play on! Unlike the other servers we ■■■■■■ up on, this server is clean and even has +% EXP on it! Please try again to remake everything!”

More plausible I’d say.

Get out of here, dude. There’s an entire forum of threads with the message of “give up”. Let this one thread be for people who haven’t.

No one has their progress destroyed by this plan. If they’re so attached to the silver they got in a broken economy, they can stay in the broken economy and keep all their ■■■■.

I already acknowledged that abusers had founders packs in their possession, and capping them at one per account limits the damage done by that, so I don’t know why you’re bringing that up at all.

If they decide to get a publisher, they new publisher would no doubt wipe the game and start over (the right way)

History will just repeat itself. They have gamebreaking bugs out of nowhere
after maintenances and then let them rot/pile up by not hotfixing them like any pro dev that cares would do. Transpose is bugged for about 3 weeks now. I mean this one was evident and became known of, but what about those that (will) remain hidden.
All problems are from imcs pisspoor attitude. So until they remain in control tos will never live to its potential. Best case scenario is tos dies soon, imcs sells its license and assets to someone who cares, then it gets reboot.
Or you can enjoy age of decadence that is 2 fps, restrictions, bots, cheaters, no moderation, low quaility staff and support, etc.

I think youre overestimating how widespread the bolero exploit was and the benefits gained from it. As for the infinite upgrades i think we should wait and see what imc will do about it.

Not bashing your idea or anything. The only thing i will mention is not everyone will benefit from the new server. Where will it be located? US? what about the SEA players? What if they go there and want to buy TP? Will it be in USD? Im not sure it will work.

The one thing I’d want out of a publisher is activity from the Pub’s GM crew. Ideally if they had power, they could actually do things on a regular basis. That’d be freaking great. Everything else would be baggage to me though.

@ridleyco Then realize that literally this drama will repeat even on that dreamy server. Exploits such as this one won’t be brought up because of the community in the first place. I’m trying to say you’ll end up just hopping from server to server, because I predict with this type of community and this type of moderation, that the same junk would happen probably faster.

I wouldn’t mind the jump personally, but a friend I introduced to the game would and probably be incredibly demotivated to restart on an unsullied server. Hell, with all of the wipe threads, it was decisively even between; Keep the servers and fix them, wipe everything, and let it burn with a troll-mask on.

server name will be “Exploit Bot”

This post was flagged by the community and is temporarily hidden.

  • Andy is a casual player.
  • Bob is a hardcore/semi-hardcore/veteran player.
  • Charlie is an exploiter. Most likely he plays alot too.

Pop quiz: who will migrate?

Answer:

Bob. Because he hates how exploiters become stronger than him unfairly.

Will Andy migrate? he plays casually and just for fun so nah. oh oh but he might’ve screwed his build or his friends migrate there or idk so it’s possible he move there.

And what will Charlie do? He is having fun on his newly owned turf! Probably visit other servers, clean or perhaps finding new exploits!

Okay so back to issue, the game is messed up because of ‘exploits and abuses’. In a bell curve of players vs play time, Both Bob and Charlie lies on the right end. There are more Andys than u think. They just dont appear in forums because they play for play’s sake.

I dont it’s a good solution. It solves nothing, just splitting playerbase and maybe cause more issues. The ‘best’ way with least risk and highest yield would still be damage control imo.

I’m not denying there won’t be more exploits, but with only one set of patch iterations to focus on, we would see significantly improved response times to exploits.

That’s the real reason IMC is banking so hard on the merger. They have limited resources and quickly discovered they didn’t have the manpower to handle two versions of one game. It’s no secret they devote more attention to kToS. It’ll be even better when they don’t have to waste time on our version.

After the merge, things will never again be as bad. I do think we’ll continue to see horrific cheating, but it won’t last quite as long, so the impact will be somewhat reduced.

This line of reasoning is probably worth including in the OP.

You make some good points, and you also admit that there are a lot of silent Bobs (lol) out there. They will indeed be the people who want to transfer most, so if there are a lot of Bobs, the idea is worth doing just to keep them as paying customers. The Bobs, by the same logic, are the most likely to leave if nothing is done to protect them from the Charlies. Andy doesn’t give a ■■■■ about anything so whatevs.

The best way you suggest IS the best way. Take out the charlies and get rid of the consequences (+25 items, dupes, etc) of their exploits. Hunting down all of the broken ■■■■ on a game with such a massive quantity of exploited goods while not banning and removing legit stuff is a huge work load that IMC clearly doesn’t have the time or money for.

So what other options are there?

I play everyday, usually 5+ hours a day and, even if it sounds arrogant, can say I have some pretty good gear too. If there were to be a forced transfer, I might as well turn into an exploiter just to get back to the team who turned those hundreds of hours into nothing, and I can assure there will be more people who would do that too

oh shoot i mistook the names lollll. i mean those who played alot should be on the right end. There are more hidden Andys (casual).

sorry2

imo imc is doing the right thing atm. Reduce possible bugs by merging repo, patching up the holes, then clean up the residue afterwards (exploited items). But whether they do those things right is a whole different story.

+1 for server wipe after bugs get fixed.

I’ve only been playing the game for 400+ hours since May, so I can’t make any claims that I know all the exploits especially those that happened during the first few months after the game was released but I understand the point that the OP is making. And I agree with him. Why? Because one of the main reasons I started playing this game is that nostalgic feeling of playing an anime-style MMORPG like RO but on a BETTER game. Not only in terms of graphics and content but overall a BETTER playing experience. So far, I’m disappointed. And in all honesty, if this series of exploits continue and stays unresolved, I would highly likely just switch to a different game even if it’s a bit different. But if a new server opens and it would get rid of most exploits in the game right now, then I would join the exodus. And I said MOST not ALL because I’m being realistic. I’m still hoping that the game would improve so I agree that drastic actions are needed since the devs are getting way behind in fixing all the problems. Yes, it would be inconvenient and maybe even unfair, but if it means improving the game in the long run and having a game that you can play for years, then for me it’s worth it. Just my two cents.
