I dont like that every classes have own starting place… Its should be random for every classes. If u want meet your friends then you can talk them with chat and you can arrange a meeting in your own city…

@Karjalainen lol I didn’t even plaed the old RO. I was too poor to pay for subs.
@MatheusUlisses I agree, that would be a wonderful idea!
I think some of you might have mistaken my intention.
First, I do believe that there SHOULD be a hub town. But it could be for complete newbies or you go there right after you get your first advancement.
Second, I don’t see a problem regarding teleporting to places you haven’t been too. A simple teleport service or a cart or a magical gate could work if lore is your problem.
Third, I played RO, like, for 5 days? Idk, I was poor lol…
A little early to assume things will stay linear as they do now after launch. There’s plenty of opportunities for IMC Games to expand the world to be less linear; for instance, in RO Hunters and Blacksmiths had their job change areas moved to different towns long after its launch. So I’d like to give IMC Games the benefit of the doubt for now seeing as how they just want to get the core mechanics of the game and translations established first before pushing expansions.
You guys dont understand… THIS GAME ISNT LIKE RO. You dont have access to multiple cities from the start. On RO you could go to almost any town via warp(new towns) given you had the zeny/walked there. This game aint like that, you find new cities as you explore and I actually like that a lottt.
We really should have 2~3 maps with DIFFERENT features (some map with large mobs to be cleaned by a 5/5 party, other with less mobs but higher individual exp).
I don’t know if it’s just because of beta, but when you get lvl 92/93, the exp downs from 500k/lvl to 70k/lvl. So you need to spend more time to go from 85 to 92 than 92 to 100.
Leveling should be exponentially hard, the player starts getting good exp, fast leveling, maybe lvl 1 to 100 in like 2 days. Than lvl 100~200 in about 5 days, 200~300 ,15 days. Lvl 500 should be for few players. In the early of RO, the 99’s aura was for dedicated players, for this reason it was so special.
In my opinion, different cities wouldn’t fit in TOS story… I mean, as far as we know, there’s only people from Klaipeda trying to find an answer for the goddesses disappearance. But, I appreciate the idea where we have different paths to choose.
I really dislike the idea of starting in different towns. It’s a huge turn off when you’re trying to get your friends to play a game with you and then you’re like… yeah, at level 10 we can group up.
It’s a good concept but it’s DEFINITELY not happening. You’re asking for WAY too much. Basically a COMPLETE revamp of the early game.
Every time you want to try a new character/class, you would really enjoy killing all those onions over again, would you ?
Too bad this game only have 3 cities and they’re pretty far away from one another. I haven’t explored the next city yet, but seeing the world map in tosbase. I suggest to have a town would be a great leap of improvement. I don’t know if there really is 3 cities, I just figured it out from the different design, and others are dungeons.
You mean to say this is RO2? lol… sorry I kid, but your points are solid. I agree… I had so much faith in this game seeing the videos, but I forgot all about how linear the areas and gear would be. What is worst is that this game has so many levels, in a years time the mid level areas will be ghost towns and no new players can progress solo easily.
I totally agree that we they should give us another town to start! It is getting bored to follow the same old path everytime I make a new character.
The only reason why people are getting the ideas from RO is because RO is a well made game, not anything else.
I personally don’t think ToS would benefit from multiple towns for it’s start.
and I think the “linear” would only go with the main quest, since the game gives you plenty of choices, tho you need to be past the “inicial” part of the game, and the number of maps is just enough of encouragement to explore

According to the map, things are looking rather bad.
Although the map seems to branch off, the progression is horribly linear for the first 100 levels, give or take. Any seemingly “side” branches lead to areas way higher than you could hope to handle (there’s a level 300+ area next to the level 32 area) and with current exp rates it’s going to take people weeks, if not months to get to the “non-linear” spots.
We need diversity as early as past our first class progression, not past our third at best.
Oh hey!
I didn’t mean that. In fact, I do want diversity too. I would love to not repeat myself, cuz I want to remember the moments I would spend playing this. I just said that we don’t know (dunno if you know, but I dunno :3) if the story has another cities involved…
Well, I’m just assuming this.
Can’t really say much about the linear quests as I personally have no issue but I wouldn’t mind if they did something different with it.
As for the different starting towns, I vote no. Dragon Nest did that and it just bugged the hell out of me. Bad example since I doubt anyone plays anymore, but Maplestory does the same thing now also. You’re forced to solo for a few levels. I like that in Tos you can start partying starting from level 1 and finish things faster and get on with it. Not being able to start with a friend until a certain level is unappealing to me. I guess if you solo, it’s no problem but sooner or later, you end up in the main town anyway. I honestly don’t see the point.
Just so you know, the linear quest line breaks around level 70 or so. At that point you can (and should) explore to find the best maps for your damage type, of which you can grind and get the quests for that zone. Hard to get to that point in the icbt, but, trust me, it does get pretty exploration based later on.
Also, take into consideration that level 70 is possibly only about 1/6~1/5 through the total level progression.
