Suggestion: Pet Skins/Costumes

It would be great if instead of having more pets come in the future, we got pet costumes/skins instead. Since pets take up a character slot, and I need to spend a lot of effort leveling it and raising stats etc. it would be much better if we could get skins for them.

That would also mean that (maybe?) we could get more or season pet options.

Exactly that is the point.

Its better for the company to keep you playing lvl new companions is a way to do that.

We need at least a few to choose from before I would settle for skins. Accessories and colors won’t change how ugly the ones we have now are. .

Sorry you misunderstand, I mean for the skins to change how your pet looks, eg. pig skin and your pet would become a pig. Not a hat/ribbon for the pet, that would be kind of boring.

I disagree that it is better for the company for me to keep creating new pets and leveling them. How does it benefit them? Wouldn’t it be better for them if I bought several “skins” for the pets, eg. pig skin, cat skin, dog skin (i don’t know just trying to make a point of what I mean), for TP, which would = money for them and purely be aesthetic from a gameplay point of view?

I could understand different pets needing to be leveled if they actually were different (a caster pet, ranged pet, melee pet, healer pet), but if all that is changing is their looks, why should I need to level so many of them?

because as it stands now the new pets coming out are from the cash shop, so you would have to buy it AND invest the play time to lvl it.

and open(buy) more lodge slots for new pets

Yes, but how likely is it that people would buy multiple cash shop pets when they take up a character slot and they have to level it?

If the pet was a skin, some people would happily buy all the pets.

Maybe I am wrong, and people will buy all the cash shop pets that come out anyway, but somehow I seriously doubt it.

If they like the way it looks very likely. Vanity is a powerful thing.

Final Fantasy XIV promised us this feature nearly a year ago or more, and they recently told us that it is really hard to develop such a system. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tree of Savior never got one.
