[Suggestion] Hunter need some changes!

Everybody knows that hunters are in a really bad spot basically since the launch and after playing with the class for some time I came with some changes that may help bring it back to the game and fight with other archers classes. This rework includes changes to skills effects and atributes, so let me show you what I was thinking of:

-Hunter C1
Coursing - Keep effects and atributes but the skill apply a bleeding on the target.
Large monsters are not affected by the CC but take the bleed damage (similar to snatching).

Snatching - Keep effects and atributes
Flying monsters now are affected by ground skills.
Large monsters are not affected by the CC.

Praise - Keep effects and atributes.
Add a new atribute that make the pet imune to knock back, but not other types of cc.

Rush Dog - Keep the skill as it is right now.

-Hunter C2
New attribute (Coursing) - Now the companion brings the enemies towards the hunter.

Hounding - Keep the skill as it is right now.

New skill - (Buff) Companion automatically atacks nearby enemies using the skill Rush Dog, similar to Falconer’s Pre-Emptive Strike (and as it was at the launch when the companion used to atack with the skill).

-Hunter C3
Growling - Keep the skill as it is right now.

As you can see it isn’t a huge rework, most skills still the same with some minor changes but it will help lot, specially in fights against bosses, and I don’t think it will make the class OP on PvP (for those who enjoys it).
Please, give me your feedback of what you think about it, let’s discuss about how they can save this poor archer rank and have hope that IMC will listen to our prays.

Hunter has 5 distinct skills, all others are pretty similar.

Hounding & Pointing do the same (pet chases after an enemy on its own) and apply a different effect. Hounding reveals hidden enemies and pointing, no idea.

Coursing, Retrieve & Snatching are pretty much the same skill.

This leaves as truly unique within the class the following skills:
Growling area CC
Praise a meh pet buff
Rush dog -> the preview of sonic strike.

Hunter unlike falconer suffers from an interesting problem: Ground companions can die / be stunned when health reaches 0.

That, interrupts all skills not currently executed. So, an attribute to make the pet get more hp and def per rank of hunter would be good. However, this has to be disabled when the pet is mounted.

Now, I’d really like coursing to remain the same, perhaps snatching aswell. But, retrieve has to change.

Oh, also this attribute https://tos.neet.tv/attributes/10020 [Companion first aid] Which has 10 minutes of CD, needs to get its CD reduced to like 1 minute.

Coursing and Retrieve should have an attribute which allows you to use them on bosses without “disabling them” - instead the Companion should draw the Boss attention to it so the player has something to distract the boss (I mean if a dog bites you in the leg you’d try to get it away as well). Benefits like Crit. Chance and Defense reduction should be reduced against bosses though.

Retrieve should also have an attribute which, instead of pulling the enemy towards the hunter, pulls them away.

The Problem with Hounding is that it has no real use in PvE. IMC could add something like Falconer “Call: Obtain” - e.g. if the Companion has nothing to reveal it will search Skill-Lv-Amounts of items instead… mostly garbage but maybe a chance to find drops from the current maps monsters.

Growling could get an attribute which has a chance to “Provoke” enemies similar to Swash Buckling.

Pointing is… kinda useless in most situations - it can be used sometimes to distract bosses but it either needs a heavy buff or IMC should remove it.

I like the idea of Knock-Back immunity for Praise, but this skill also needs some adjustments (Huge defensive buff?)

Most importantly IMC should add Attributes to C2 & C3 buffing the Companion stats. They kinda forgot to adjust Pet Stats at renewal. Right now it has super super low defense even with both Armor Slots used and low HP.

Lastly: Auto Using offensive Skills like Rush Dog (maybe a new skill like C3 Falconer for C3 Hunter or return of the beta attribute?)
EDIT: Oh well I didn’t notice you suggested it already but C2 is a bit too low I think, even though Growling is very very good C3 is not popular at all. Most Hunters I saw were C2 for PVP purpose.

Anyway… even with those changes the main problem would still persist - the absolutely terrible AI. They should add some sort of skill queue so your stuff wont miss-fire at least.

Thanks for the replys o/
Lets see what we have here.

Totally agree with you, I was thinking about the knock back problem but completelly forgot of how fragile pets are, even with 2 armors slots.

Maybe change Praise to buff the pet DEF instead of ATK, making it generates more aggro so it will pull the monsters easily while keeping the knock back buff, aside from that, they could change the CD of the Companion First Aid to like 1 minute.
About the attribute @LightDarkSide suggested for Coursing/Retrieve, I think it would be easier to change it to a DoT, putting the retrieve as a attribute and the Hounding:Call is a interesting idea, but not necessary right now.
Now, I was thinking about setting the “Rush Dog:Pre-Emptive Strike” as a C3 skill but by doing that the C2 would be so weak just adding Hounding to the class. Maybe moving Growling to C2 and that new skill to C3 should solve the problem. I wasn’t counting on the state of the AI, even knowing is terrible, but just how they could change the skills to enhance the class.

One other thing. This one is just a fantasy of mine, allow hunter to equip 4 companions at circle three, 3 at circle two and 2 at circle one. I’d also like it to be tied to a more complex little system in which you assign a skill to be used by each companion. So you’d be able to use all your skills at once, each one being executed by a different companion,

I mostly want this because growling makes you only commit to growling and that I’ve many pets that want to be displayed.

I think it’s gonna a little too much, maybe 2 at max. I understand that sucks to lock you pet at growling, but I’m pretty sure it works well that way.

It perhaps is, or it isn’t. It could be the greatest thing evah.

But you then remember the current AI and multiply that x4 and well… IMC aproved I guess…

C2 adds Retrieve to the skill pool. Hunter 2 is apparently relative popular for (masochistic) Archer PVP builds. C3 is the less popular choice. In past C3 offered longer Coursing and Retrieve durations - however now it’s capped to 5,5s (2,25s in PVP).
