Sub Weapons (dagger/pistol/cannon)

So it has come to my attention that a sub weapon’s damage does not actually increase your actual damage when attacking/ using skills.

Basically, buying a Knife (level 120 off hand dagger) and equipping it with a crossbow won’t actually add it’s 97-114 damage to your auto attacks.

What you do with the knife is…to press C and go stabby stabby.
So it is basically useless.

Does this also mean that cannons and pistols also basically don’t scale your auto attack/ skills? Would using say Cannon Shot (150% atk + 3300 damage) only scale the 150% atk part off of the cannon in your off hand and not your total damage?

I was really looking forward to doing Cannoneer over Musketeer for rank 7. The answer to this might really push me toward Musketeer though. Not having the ability to scale a crossbow with off hand items to make up for its lower damage compared to bow kinda sucks.

Go ahead and sell your dagger. Then buy the mighty arde dagger or mana-mana pistol, you will know why this game used to be called “tree of arde dagger” in icbt2.

Oh I know about the Arde Dagger and Mana-Mana pistol. They aren’t the things I’m concerned about. Its the scaling in the late/ end game that I’m worrying about.

If the scaling works the way I think it does, it is probably going to push me to Musketeer instead of going Cannoneer like I was thinking of going.

Can you explain about sub weapon more? I thought it would add overall phys power to me but is that not the case? I have been using the added dagger tho does that act differently then a normal one?

wait I was told daggers add the dmg to the skills/auto attack
this is the 1st time I hear this

can else anyone confirm ?

A dagger is an alternate auto attack that deals piercing damage.
A pistol is an alternate auto attack that is ranged.
Some classes may require a certain sub weapon to use some skills.

Like other types of equipment, any bonus stats on the sub weapon will be applied to everything your character does. Base weapon damage is resricted to the auto attack of the subweapon however.

The idea that daggers directly add to main weapon damage is likely caused by the Arde dagger, which has a bonus stat of +150 fire damage.

Basically, if you aren’t using an Arde Dagger or a Mana Mana pistol, you might as well be using a Bow or a Shield.

ahh so its the bonus. that… explains a lot.

Hmmm yeah my goal is the arde dagger at some point.

Does anyone know up tp what lvl arde dagger is useful ?

I think you use it until you get mana mana.

Sorry for necro’ing chat, couldn’t find a topic about this discussion… so enhancing your sub-weapon would not boost your sub-weapon required class’s skill damage?? (E.G. SR’s retreatshot/concentrated shot?)

I have done small test by swapping crossbows, those crossbow definitely affected skills that required subweapons specifically. but im not sure if subweapons affect those skill dmg as well(didnt have many sub wep available)
