Steam rating dropping fast

I’m sorry I can’t detect the sarcasm before, lol.

Reminds me of a tv comedy show were a not so bright priest was given the recommendation to answer “that would be a ecumenial matter” or “yes” during a bishops visit.
Ecumencial meaning involving people from different kinds of Christian churches

Sure everything is relative and has several viewpoints from were you can view them, but in the end it makes little sense in a discussion to try to represent all points of views yourself.
Pick one you like and say that.

While saying your own opinion makes you be wrong occasionally id prefer to hear your opinion without the cushions of being reasonable.

I think the exp cards are bad design nothing relative about it.
Could be ok with small tweaks but the current iteration of the system is like something stuck in my teeth im not sure why i find it so very annoying but do.

If IMC don’t fix the trade system until the end of April., then two more negative reviews will appear (one from me and one of my friend). I just want to trade useful items with my friend.

Aye, I accept that… Though… Personally I hate developers that choose to dumb down their gameplay in the name of accessibility.

In the current system you have planning and strategy to how you level. If they just gave you flat XP when you finished your quests. It would reduce that freedom. If I had to eat all my cards when I got them I’d be stuck doing a lot of zones I normally skip… There are plenty of times when I’m leveling I don’t want to do questing. I got favorite zones and I got favorite grind dungeons and in the current system I got freedom to do the quest zones and grind zones I want. And I even get to plan all of it out ahead of time… There is a mini-game here where I get to strategize everything.

Taking out a system just because players don’t get it without learning it from outside sources… Kind of hits on that whole deny system in MOBAs. League didn’t want it because it wasn’t engineered and without through explanation. DotA on the other hand keeps it because it’s core gameplay and raises the skill ceiling at the cost of accessibility. Design choices along this line speak volumes about the philosophy of the people making the game. And both philosophies appeal to very different types of people.

What you consider bad design… I consider an interesting system waiting to be exploited. Discovering, learning, understanding, thinking I want to do that with as many parts of the games design as I can. With the current XP system I get to do that. It’s a lot better for players like me then the canned leveling experience from WoW. I know I’m not the average Joe in that regard but there are many like me… And it’s part of the reason ToS has it’s little cult.

Yes, you are not alone °°
I enjoy the whole theory behind ToS leveling.

I have learned one thing from steam and metacritic ratings: Don’t trust them.

Uh… so don’t trust Amazon reviews either?

Online review systems have issues and can have biases. But generally they work… why do we have to have convoluted explanations for these review scores like “oh steam and metacritic users are biased idiots who only know how to whine!!”? The simpler explanation is that there are aspects of the game that a sizeable number of people don’t like and that they feel are important in an mmo style game…

People are just insecure with their choices. If a majority of people don’t like what you like, they either don’t understand it or are just wrong about it. That’s the general logic people use. So when large sites likes metacritic and Steam collect the voices of the community, it is easy to dismiss them.

I don’t know about you guys, but I take steam scores into consideration. It’s not the deciding factor, but it does help. If something is mixed, I will do more research. If it’s overwhelmingly positive, I am generally more lax before investing time and money into the product. I am sure a lot of people think that way too, which is why the rating is important.

ESPECIALLY Amazon reviews. Example: I bought an Desktop 2 years ago. Despite the advances in technology, the price for that same Desktop never changed, together with the rating.

At best i use those ratings as a rough guideline.

I look at reviews much like i look at amazon reviews… of course games and movies are more subjective but those 2 star or 3 star items with a lot of reviews usually have some issues… maybe I’m not bothered by the issues but they’re useful for people who would be…

Reviews play an important part as to why I play games as well, the reviews when I got ahold of the game were all super positive… Had I seen them now? I’d probably not bother.

There’s a lot of ‘dumb’ reviews there but several of them have valid points and anyone denying that is just… ugh.

These issues can lead to killing a game… ToS might be a unique game but these kinds of decisions can kill it or promote private servers.

C-Can you marry me?

Or at least let me use your ™ & ©

We’re only left with half of the amount of players (that payed for the game because they couldnt wait for this lovely game) that started on pre-release date.

That’s not at all surprising though, or any indicator for the future of the game.

It just shows that the novelty of the game for most players has worn off. On first day/week, everyone wants to play. By now, pretty much everyone that’s willing to play already got their access and got to check out the game, but now they may not be online every day.

I bet all of the replies and comments will stop when the servers back up tmr. Lol
