Squire looks so fun but

I find it leaves you in a really awkward spot as a class.

To truly benefit from Squire you need to invest two circles to obtain basecamp and food table but then you’re left with a subpar dps or tank class. This is like the only reason I haven’t firmly decided whether or not I want to become a squire.

is it like a vendor? in that you can set up somewhere, like a grinding map… and ppl pay you for you camp’s services?

Yes, it’s mostly a PvE utility kind of class.

You can repair weapons and armors on the field and buff them. You can also set up a camp which acts as a warp point or storage AND a foodtable in the camp which buffs the party members.

but do you get money for the service? if its party only that’s a bit limited.

Technically you’re still an amazing tank class. Peltasta C3 is one of THE best tank classes IMO. It has a high block rate, high defense, stun skills, and aggro skill along with some attack skills if you so desire.

You’d basically be Swordsman C1 > Peltasta C3 > Squire C2. If you however want to have some DPS along with squire however, you’d have to change that.

Swordsman C1 > Peltasta C1 > Hoplite C2 > Squire C2 seems like a pretty good combo for DPS for me as well sacrificing your defense for a lot of damage potential as well as CC with Arrest if you wanted to go that route.

edit: also does squire buffs, the repairs as well as food last outside of the campsite or is it just around the campsite? If it persists outside of the campsite range, it is possible to have that for PVP and GVG as well since you can increase weapon damage, armor ratings, and give food buffs to your pvp teammates and guild members.

You do get money for the services. You set up your price for repairs and buffs. Campsite however I don’t think does… I think that’s only for party.

nice. I’m liking all these interesting vendor classes

Yes, you can charge for your services.

And ouuuh, looks like the tank route might be the most viable way for Squires then. As a DPS, you’ll lose out heavily to other cookie cutter builds like Barbarians.

And yes, the buffs persist. Otherwise it would be hell for the Squire with the 6 hour CD on campsite lol. Literally unplayable. Anyway, I think the utility of him is awesome but like I mentioned earlier it makes you sorta awkward. A tank machine with some CC sounds the best way to play him after you pointed it out.

It’s quite possible the only reason the utility classes are later in the ranks for advancement is because all previous class picks exist simply to reach the stage where you may use those utility classes.

I think its more to do with making them not easy to get. big invest in time/effort, and a super hard choice of having to sacrifice one of your highest ranks to crafting.
If everyone could just make a vendor type char in an evening then they would, since they make money. but making them a bit harder to choose and make balances the money rewards. instead of them being a standard thing that everyone did. like the low lvl pront merc ala RO.

(or is that something like what you were getting at? I cant really tell what you meant to be honest >.<)

I still hate that archers’ vending class (Fletcher since I’m not sure when they are getting Appraiser of if it is a hidden class or not :frowning:) can only make arrows for their own class and sell it to lazy Fletchers

yer, I haven’t really looked into other classes besides cleric, but I was a bit confused about what services/items fletcher would sell besides arrows. arrows seems like a bit boring compared to Alch, Squire and Pardoner

Others are right. Squire can make for a good tank if you lead into it with Peltasta C3 or even Peltasta C2 > Rodelero C1 > squire. That is going to be my route when I make my squire! You can also drop a skill point in the skill Arrest and that gives you a 10 second immobilize for bosses, so you can be a good meat shield and provide CC and breathing room for other members. To be honest, I don’t think you could make a damage build with squire. Well, you could, but it would most definitely be greatly overshadowed by most other builds. Class seems like a lot of fun honestly. It sounds like fun to make camp outside an end game dungeon with your alchemist and pardoner buddies and provide a helping hand to adventurers looking to go into the dungeon!

I like the idea of there being a Knight type class after Squire, also http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/uxpaq4zp7l/

Out of curiosity, is there a reason to take more levels in base camp? Doesn’t base camp just act as a spawn point?

Storage, teleport, increased duration of buffs used around a camp, I would assume the increase in buff duration scales with the skill level.

As of now DPS Squire may not be practical but with more ranks and classes coming out in the future, things might change. Maybe there will be more DPS classes for Squire to continue upgrading to. I am so excited for the information of the other non-hidden classes.

@Garrnett

I was thinking of this build, too.

How about Highlander>squire? Is that good, too?

Yeah, Highlander or Barbarian would be alright choices as well. But damage will be lacking compared to others since Rank 5 and Rank 6 are dedicated to Squire. As a full DPS squire (excluding Cross Guard) instead of tanky DPS definitely really needs some tender love and care for the lower dps.

Don’t forget that there will be more class ranks after Rank 6 for launch. So there is definitely potential to expand on a Squire build later on.
