Some maybe-dumb newbie-ish questions

Well, looking at the screnshots, with the exception of the GPU which I cannot compare since it says 0, everything else went up a lot, so I do assume that by now something inside must be clogged up. Unfortunately I have a very dusty place (I live in the middle of the forest and ever since it got warmer here four days ago I swear I already have more pollen/dust inside, stupid trees and their biological warfare weapons making me sneeze and my apartment dirty), so that migth be very well true. The air entrance I can see is very clean because the laptop cooler which sucks out the air is affixed to it so it isn’t exposed to the dust anyway.

But yup, my laptop is a bit over a year old now, so I’m not surprised my once silent fan already sounds a lot like a chainsaw by now. They usually do…

I am really glad you took the time to check the temperatures with me. Unfortunately that doesn’t help me with the ingame issue of not being able to play with others and the game refusing to accept my setting of not wanting to see other players (it keeps reverting no matter what I try). So I guess I am stuck with hoping to get some shards from HG and… I dunno, cards to drop from the sky. I ran Level 50 dungeon three times today, 18 cubes total, not a single card. Just Talt. Some recipes and a LOT of Talt. And no one buys that stuff, no matter how cheap I put it on the market (same with my Hethran badges, they don’t even sell for 10k…). Guess I’ll never be really top tier, but ah well. Also did Catacombs three times and there were no demon lords there whatsoever, just the usual crew of bosses. I didn’t even defeat them, just got out of there when I confirmed there was no one I wanted a card from.

I’ll need to leave for the day now, it’s past 9pm in Germany here and I need to get up early tomorrow. I’ll check back tomorrow. Thank you so much for all the extensive help today!

Give me a ping tomorrow I will check some more stuff that may help you, we probably hit each other by the same time today since our times being a bit apart.

Also, I just noticed one thing I mistook from that DrawActors option, it doesn’t limit the number of players, but the radius the game let you see them:

At 15% it draw the characters at this distance, also, it may be possible that the minimum value be 10% or 15%, try 5% tomorrow to see if it works.

Those jumbled names are residual from the graphic, it’s a game glitch.

Thank you for helping me again! I don’t have much time until Wednesday (Holiday time…), but I will check in several times. Also I only have three more days on my newbie gears and I will lose a LOT of stats when they run out (as the timed necklace alone gives 20 to all stats and that combined with the amazing weapon having like 500 more magic attack than the mace I have ready for when time’s up…). So I’m kinda pressed to play as much as possible until that point to get as close to 350 as possible. But I only managed a single level today in two hours… ugh. Sooo slow…

Anyway, I tried the number changing with 5, 10 and 15 and the game auto-reverted them all back to 99. I wonder if it does have something to do with my screen resolution, maybe? I have no idea. But your screenshot seems to cover a much larger area than mine and I am always maximally zoomed out.

Yeah my monitor is a ultrawide, it goes up to 2560x1080, I’m not sure if it’s related to resolution tho, what you can try is, change it again, save, right click in the file and go on properties and set it to read-only (but I would think it’s already like that.

Just to make sure, check if there’s not a lot of user files there (don’t bother with user_c or variants), the only thing I can think of is, you tried to save it, but it decided to save it as a user.txt file but the xml file still the same way as before.

Also, on Nvidia Control Painel, in Manage 3D settings locate any options that says High Quality and change it to High Performance.

I would take that Shader Cache is on, maybe turning it off help a bit.

If your laptop is always on the power supply, I suggest you to change the energy settings to High Performance (on Windows Energy Management) and in the same place as the options above there’s one called Energy Management Mode (or something similar, mine is in portuguese so I’m just literary translating it) set it to High Prefer Max Performance.

It wasn’t on read-only anymore since you had told me before to make the folder not read-only in an attempt to change the number. I put it back to read-only now, but doubt it will change anything. Will report back on this in an hour or so.

Hmm, I opened it in Editor, edit the file and then just use the ā€˜save’ command. And I don’t see any new file being created. And I only have user and user_c.

I changed these settings now, thank you for the tip. Will report back soon; gotta boot the game up for an hour before bedtime now and will tell you how it went then.

That’s actually what my settings are already at - I think, since I am translating as well from German. :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: I can report that it now seems to work! Making the file read-only again editing it in not-read-only mode seems to have done the trick. Also 5 is the minimum value.
I have, unfortunately, not noticed a change in performance (aka the freezing screens) as moving still causes new players to load and the ā€œfreezeā€ takes about the same amount of time no matter if one or twenty players get loaded. So basically, I get around 7-10 seconds of freeze when I run up to the shops and 20 shops load, but also the same freeze time when then one other player runs up to me/the shops. I suppose I am stuck with what bad performance I have got right now.

Well, bedtime for me again. Thank you for your help and all the different ideas! I hope you have a happy Easter - I will check back tomorrow.

Random playing news: FINALLY the Tassled Armband recipe dropped from that gimmick chests it’s in. Still no Flower Horns, but a step in the right direction.
Catacombs still had none of the demon lords spawn. Still doubting they exist in there and still wondering how to get their cards from there if that turns out to be correct.
Also Level 325 now. Some wonderful person dropped a seed and a statue in Klaipeda, I always really appreciate those (and being told in chat about them). Alembique cave still gave crappy exp even with the buffs, but all the new fields I explored today sucked in terms of enemies. The Kugheris are all horrible to fight. I need a new leveling spot.

Hello again, everyone!
I am in dire need of more answers and hope someone can help me again.

My 30-days newbie gear runs out in almost exactly 24 hours and I am terrified of what happens then. Realizing that I will definitely have to invest in gear, I sold all Armadillo Companion Vouchers I got and now have a budget of nine million silver. Could you guys help me with choosing what to buy?
I am a full-INT Cleric2/Krivis3/Miko1/Kabbalist1/Taoist2 and run around zapping people with Zaibas and making storms.

What I will lose and what I have as replacements:

  • Zemyna necklace, giving 20 to STR, DEX, INT and CON. I have zero replacements in necklaces. Zero. And this is by far the most valueable piece I will lose.
  • Phada, just sitting there for 77 magic defense. Totally replaceable as I don’t need STR at all, but I have no bracelets, either.
  • Lord Hamondale’s Bracelet, giving 33 Magic Attack and 145 SP. The Magic Attack hurts because I also lose the necklace. Again, no replacements.
  • My Aias Shield, 721 Defense, 8% Chance to reduce damage to 50%, 84 Block, 164 Crit Resistance. I cannot count how often this shield has saved me and I am terrified of losing it. I have a Bertha’s Pervodimas Shield (606 def), but its only additional stat is +23 Earth Property Resistance.
  • My Maga Rod, 1262 Magic Attack, HP +1292, SP -643, +68 Earth Property Damage, +16 Earth Property Resistance. I’m a bit worried about losing the HP since my CON will already drop so much from losing the necklace. The SP I will have more is neglectable as Ein Sof keeps me full anyway. I have a Berthas Pervodimas Rod (unenhanced 1061 Magic Attack), +35 Block, +41 SPR, +21 SP Recovery. Has no INT, but I feel that enhancing it to +5 should be a good enough replacement for Maga Rod until I reach 350.

So, what would you guys invest in? I saw stuff like Max Pentamion or Terralion on the market, but I am unsure if they are worth the money. Still, I feel like I need to compensate the immense loss of the Zemyna Necklace the most. On the other hand, I am not sure if these items are worth the price tag they have attached to them, as they are not part of a set or anything.

Can anyone give me a hint? I never had to look for items of that kind in the game so far since I wore that newbie gear since level 50 and I feel completely lost.

Do not think too much about accessories as your damage doesnt rely too much on accessories’ stats but on you weapon’s damage (includes enhancement, & transcendence). Thus, you would want to have some 315/350 Primus weapon (The orange ones, preferrably mace/rod), or if you are having a bad time farming them or it’s too expensive, try 315/350 Berthas (Violet). If you really want to havr accessories, you can easily get the Zachariel bangle recipe (from Royal Mausoleum, forgot the floor where the quest is in), Petamion/Max Peta(from 120/180 Dgn cubes respectively iirc) is good or you can settle for Agny necklace (from lv50 dgn) for now just for that Int +5.

For the necklace, I can tell you it will be a pain to replace. For one of my alts, I’ve spent ages doing 120 dungeon daily, stockpiling 200 cubes 3 times and binge-opening them to get the petamion recipe. Opened over 600 cubes, no recipe (it was supposed to be a 1% drop no? clearly this was changed…). The good news: from these 600 cubes I got over 20 Agny recipes, and you’re an INT-based cleric, so this is a good necklace to craft as a short-term replacement. You could also buy peta/max peta from the market, but get prepared to use all your budget for that. I wouldn’t…

For the bracelets, that’s easy: go farm Wizard Bracelets in Spring Light Woods (1/150 chance drop from Shardstatues, should be quite fast to get two of them). They give 32 MATK and 80 SP, so replace the Hamondale fine.

For the shield and rod, use your 9mil silver to get good ones from the market. Don’t bother using the crap ones you got, they’re not worth investing money (enchants, sockets…) on them. At least get +INT and if possible other goodies.

Thank you very much for helping me out!

Thank you for that tip! Chances are that the bangle is that thing I never crafted because I never had the Vikaras Cores on hand while I had all the items that dropped from the bosses. I’ll check that - the ā€œniceā€ thing about losing the timed gear is that I will be finally away from the pressure I feel to level as fast as possible, so I could just spend an eternity in the Royal Mausoleum then and it wouldn’t matter.

Alright, that’s a good hint. I can ace these dungeons in a reasonable time, after all, even with non-perfect gear, so might as well do that. The Agny Necklace is 2,5mil on the market, so I’m not gonna buy that for sure, but if I get the recipes I’ll craft one (if the ingredients are reasonable to farm). And I wanna try out a wizard once the equip timer from my Taoist is gone anyway, so it might even find a good use on a second character later.

That sounds really good! I’m gonna do that then!

I will actually have access to a Level 350 Primus weapon (though not sure if to pick mace or rod yet) since I have the DLC bundle, but of course I don’t know what stats the weapon will have. I do wonder, though - will it be worth it to put a lot of money into a good 315 weapon/shield? I hope to hit Level 333 before time on my gear runs out (four more hours), so it’s 17 levels until 350 then. I STILL haven’t found a better spot than Alembique Cave for grinding and I have definitely overstayed my welcome there, though. It’s still faster for me than HGs, though.

Also I read in all the guides that the best weapon for me will be a Masinios Mace. The recipe cost for that already looks crazy… Still, getting something decent first is more important than saving up for that, right?

Stats really don’t matter much, I use a crappy primus staff with my wizard, but since the MATK is the same as a masinio staff, it’s still good enough once enchanted and transcended. For your cleric, pick up rod (1337 MATK vs 1203 for the mace).

Well the cost of a masinio weapon is crazy yes… unless you have something to trade for it. Your best bet is to do challenges, then raids, keep the cubes until you have 10-12 of them and open them, there’s a good chance you get a masinio recipe yourself. If it’s not the mace… just trade whatever recipe you got for a mace.

Sounds good, gonna get the rod then once I reach level 350. It’s rough now - my equipment ran out in the middle of a boss fight (figures…) and while I did win, I noticed the drop especially in HP immediately in a painful way. Only ray of hope is that I found a pair of 315 Berthas boots which give 17 INT, almost getting me back what I lost through losing the necklace.
But now I can take things slow… I ran the 120 dungeon thrice and got a load of Talt and other useless crap. Ah well. I think I might try to make a second character, now that I have time, to run the dungeons twice as much to get the recipes a bit better.

I only managed to beat the first level of a challenge twice. One of the two cubes had a raid stone recipe. Can I do raids solo? I figured I likely can’t, so never really bothered looking into them. But if the primus rod will do fine, then that’s good to know. I just need to get to 350 now. Maybe I should start using my exp cards, even though I wanted to save them.

I really appreciate the help, thanks a lot.
