[Solved] Too easy to AFK farm

As the title states, it is too easy to AFK farm (just spam Tab+Z repeatedly), and as more people get bored of grinding it seems like AFK farming is becoming more popular.

EDIT: @FatePGN gave an excellent explanation in another thread as to why it is actually not too easy to AFK farm (if you are a high level in a low level area), or to AFK level (if you are a high level in a high level area):

If you afk farm in an area (by holding down one key with a battery or something), it’s inefficient and no one will care, at the late game when mobs all use skills, it can’t be done anyway.

If you bot in the same map, then the Grim Reaper boss will summon for a set period of time, and will probably kill you. That is this games anti-bot.

Note: I tested this with a group of people by cycling level 15 call of deities scrolls between each other, and essentially killing them immediately, so we took over the map, and the grim reaper boss always summoned after killing too many enemies in one map, it spawns right on top of you.

If you kill him, you get no drops, but if your a player and actually manage to kill him, you get some okay exp, bots will have trouble with him as he summons magic mobs so they can hit even full evasion bots.

And @Midnightmare provided some more info about the Grim Reaper anti-bot/afk-farm monster in this thread:

There is actually a 1000 monster limit for staying in the same area and killing enemies within a certain time…Summons a grim reaper boss that does high damage, he takes around 5 minutes to despawn and spawns right next to your party. I believe the 1000 mobs must be killed in less than an hour

  1. I don’t blame people for AFK farming, with xp rates so low. Anyways, kneeling shot archer is just about the best damage you can do at that level. No point penalizing people for playing to their strengths.

  2. That ruins static farming, which is what most people enjoy. Spending downtime running between mobs isn’t very fun for most people.

I remember there being some mob in a mmorpg meant to stop botters and afk farmers like this one. It wouldn’t attack you unless you attacked him I heard it worked well.

Make it so that if you are in the same spawn area and constantly pressing the same keys without changing and constantly shooting even without hitting mobs for a certain period of time (such as Tab+Z or other key combinations), you must answer a captcha or must answer an easy Tree of Savior based question that everyone should know like what class level you have to be to advance to the next rank or something.

I don’t know the answer, so I would be labeled as a bot?

True… well it was just a suggestion anyways

edit: but captcha should work since games I’ve played previously used such methods to prevent botting. The problem with this is that if you aren’t botting and you get a captcha, it gets pretty annoying as well.

so your saying please disable normal attack, create an archer if u dont have one, get the kneeling skill, do what that picture shows come back and tell me about afk farming . pressing z doesnt mean it also auto attack or target the ones’ behind you or even the ones below your point of sight, except if mobs are really close to u and attacked u

Doesn’t ctrl or tab target enemies for you if you? You really can just macro out tab or ctrl + z to attack the enemies around you. Also unless you are botting, you generally wouldn’t attack when there aren’t mobs around. It’s easy to see who is botting and who isn’t by clearing the mobs around the suspected botter and if they are attacking when nothing is around them, they are botting. If not, they’re just very quiet and can take auto attacking in one spot to grind their levels.

There are definately a decent amount of people botting, it’s pretty obvious when they do it. It’s rather an archee or mage just tab auto attacking. They’re normally in a group to stop mobs getting to close. But I’ve seen plenty of them by themselves in big grind groups to take the heat off them.

Real problem are blue mobs

We just need some sort of item perhaps that could spawn a monster when used. Maybe a random monster that could be potentially very strong and kill bots. I seem to remember a certain game having an item like this… :ok_hand:

Apperantly, it is only viable the first 100 levels or so - after that, the damage becomes to low, or so i was told.

True, is much faster and profitable (like 10 or 20 times) doing aoes and buying sp potions even at lv 40+. So if you are going to cook, eat, take a shower or whatever and want to make that time a bit worth you should find a good spot and do some “botting z”.

Not to mention about the loots… you have to move if you want them most of the time. But i cant understand why the people are complaining about this.

They should just take auto attack off and only allow normal attacks to work if you press attack.

i do not think it matters what the exp rate is, people that bot now are going to bot whatever the exp rate is

and there is no excuse for botting or afk fighting

This would be a nice way to PK random people hehe (And committing suicide with them)

This is indeed a huge problem.

Ranged classes, especially Archer classes just need to sit down at the centre of a lvling spot, get their Z-key stuck and then they can afk-farm for as long as they want.

Nothing wrong with afk attacking, seems to me your just jealous. A fix would to make the attacker deal no damage after staying in the same spot until they move a couple steps.

This is a good way to get carpel tunnel.

Mouse players are already getting it because we have to mouse click every attack if we wanna animation cancel  if not, well AUTO ATTACK!!! lol
