So...the new trading rules for non-token users

I agree with him, also please stay on topic.

@Dayze213 :

well…

He’s a tyrant, sociopath , delinquent but definitely not a rebel

  • Edit -
on topic . i’m just waiting for the patch to be done to prove my point once and for all just so i can shut him up .

That’s why you hire market analysts and consultants and whatnot. Sheesh, just watch Extra Credits issues regarding F2P. It’s pretty much in glowing neon there.

You can’t just say “Let’s put some restrictions of everything and make non-paying users suffer”. You just don’t, unless you want to fail miserably.
The moment you decide you want to monetize the ABSENCE of suffering you jump happily off a cliff.

Premium stuff is supposed to be “better than free”, yes. But vast majority of the F2P playerbase is (by default) NOT inclined to buy ANYTHING. They want to play the game, see if it’s enjoyable and then, MAYBE, cough up some cash to make it MORE enjoyable. The moment players face a paywall that says “Pay up or SUFFER” they start looking for another game.

TL;DR: Yes, F2P developers need money. But before that, they need to come up with stuff players would WANT to pay for, not stuff players MUST pay for to make their experience less frustrating. And so far, it’s been going the wrong way with trade restrictions.

The 1:1 trading is still obnoxious just considering that one of the cool things to do on MMOs is to help your fellow friends by giving them weaker gears or sharing items you don’t need. Basically you’re making it so that players are on their own in terms of silver or items and can’t receive “any” outside help.

The non-trade item deal without tokens is … odd. I won’t say it’s a horrible thing since it can be worked around and it just means that it’s yours forever once you get it. No big deal actually. But I do feel like it doesn’t help anything either. It certainly isn’t going to stop gold farmers since I doubt money can be considered “non-trade”.

Not being able to use Team Storage without a token is just stupid. You should be able to share things with yourself. Yes even non-trade. It’s really dumb because that’s just obviously being rude and trying to make people buy more tokens. As if there wasn’t already enough incentive. (Which there is) At some point you probably should just take a couple steps back because pushing too hard can turn people off from the concept of the entire game.

There are reasons the people who waited for the game to become F2P have not started yet. You’d be wise to consider that.

Making the items non-trading after being sold on the auction or traded isnt that weird. I like it. It keeps the economy going and the demand for certain items will stay in play.

However, i still think a system like WoW has, is also a great solution. The soulbound items. If you find/buy an item, you can re-trade it or w/e u want. But when you USE it, the item becomes soulbound and you will not be able to sell/trade it.

Good thing they are adding this for non token users

Should be available when servers open.

seriously, hours for cafrisun? have you ever actually tried to farm it?
i usually complete the set in about 30 minutes, although sometimes…

…it goes a lot faster.

if spending $15 USD is too much for you
…then farm silver for couple of days, instead of spending it all on trivial upgrades to gear.
tokens are incredibly cheap in the market these days, and 350k is something anyone can farm up even at low levels.

half your arguments don’t even apply after today’s patch.
you want to give your wife/some random player something? then give it to them. if either/both of you are non-token players, it becomes untradeable, but if they’re going to use it then why is that a problem?

1, Tokens need to have some appreciable benefits to be worth buying, and Tokens (and other cash shop items) are what’s going to make it possible for the f2p players to be in the game at all. the server doesn’t just run for free. Team Storage (or the equivalent by some other name) is a paid feature in every other game i can think of that has it, and most games don’t have it at all.

2, there’s no magical “Bots” switch they can just turn to “off” and make it all go away. they have to take steps, and determine if those steps have an effect or not in combatting RMT. so far they’ve already demonstrated that when an attempted solution does not help the problem, they’re willing to look at reducing restrictions on it.

3, you keep going on about what is and isn’t “breaking the rules”, and will not accept that half of these are simply the way the system works. you keep referring to the way the system is setup as “punishment”, as if IMC was so full of rage they can’t stop themselves from just lashing out at the closest available target.

if you really think IMC is making this game into a punishment to play, then pack up and go play something else.
if you’re going to keep playing, try dialing it back. that post comes off as a mashup between “how dare you do you know who i am” entitlement, and “they’re out to get us” paranoia.

the server doesn’t just run for free. [/quote]

They will run “for free” (or rather, “without earning money”), if IMC keeps this up.
This isn’t 2002 anymore, ToS isn’t the only game on the market and players are choosy like that. If you try to force players to pay, they just leave, plain and simple. The “but we have to cover the server/development costs!” argument just doesn’t work unless you provide a solid, enjoyable service first. And a dozen white knights justifying every move developers make sure as hell can’t cover the costs, you need a healthy playerbase for that, and (surprise!) before you get paying customers, you need to gather a lot of happy players who are willing to spend.

Then I suggest you crawl out from under whatever rock you’ve been living under for the last decade. Practically every single F2P game out there has either team storage or in-game mail system that allows you sending stuff to your alts and/or friends.

Kys. Another pu$$y a$$ reply from the online forum “god”. Are you a dev for this game or sucking ones d!ck, either way your every comment makes everyone want to choke your b!tch a$$ with your own tampon. Not one of you post are helpful, you just bash people that say anything good or bad about the game. Ever thought about how shotty shell taste? You should try it.

well, no. they won’t. this is a business. if it’s just losing money, it will be shut down.

they’re offering a service. if no one is willing to pay for it, then the game will die.
even in 2002 there were other options. pointing it out proves nothing. hell, i left other games to start playing this.

team storage? no. it’s actually a fairly rare feature, altho i’ll correct myself and say i’ve seen some f2p games with entirely shared storage. (Path of Exile, all characters share a single large bank.)
-most- games with Team storage, or some equivalent, require premium to use it.

item mail? maybe.
but then again, those games tend to have item-binding, and are quite restrictive as to what can be mailed.
…oh look, that sounds rather a lot like the team storage here, if you trade “item bind” for “potential”.

^this is pretty ironic, considering the content of your own posts.

@tzxazrael the trolls STRIKES AGAIN i’m sorry if you can’t get the fact that you’re the one i’m referring to as troll * claps sarcastically *

yea, good for you. you and your buddy have devolved to stalking someone on the forums to insult them. super classy, mate!
do you have nothing to contribute to the actual topic at hand?

ps; that’s what trolls do, troll.

No need to stalk. I check a topic that I find interesting and sure enough your pu$$y a$$ is there breaking down every line of every critique of the game with insults. I check the forums maybe once a day. You sit there, cheese puffs in hand, basement door firmly shut, sweating over every thread. I hate bullies, and the best way to stop a bully is to be a bigger, badder one. Contridictary maybe, but screw it. I didn’t start it, but I can keep going, unless you cut it.

Shutting down is a consequence of running a game that is not attractive to players and doesn’t generate profit. I though that one was obvious.

Yeah, no such thing a bound items in ToS!
Oh, wait, Ledas Shield… And a ton of other equipment, too. And even crafting materials, at times. So I guess ToS has BOTH binding and untradable items. And no mail. And a bunch of other ridiculous and highly annoying restrictions.

What I’m saying is, you’ve got to have a pretty darn polished, amazing game with millions of highly forgiving fans to even think of taking a risk with restrictions that annoy the playerbase.

ToS, on the other hand, is a niche game that caters mostly to people (no use denying it) who liked Ragnarok Online back in the day. And while the crowd may be somewhat forgiving, nostalgia factor playing a role here, they’re not, for the most part, stupid. Anyone who owned a credit card back in 2003 is over 30 by now, and no one’s buying the “oh, but the bots will be unstoppable otherwise!” excuses. And forgiving attitude can only make people turn a blind eye on glaringly bad design decisions for so long.

TL;DR: They better fix this mess and try to salvage the situation, because otherwise it will backfire badly (as if going at 40% negative reviews on Steam isn’t bad enough).

This is, after all, as you said yourself, business.

I wonder how much the Token price in iTOS is. In idTOS, it’s currently 2kk. Double k, as in 2,000,000 silver.

In Silute (South America) is ~900k

God, I knew our servers were overpriced. Before it was just 300k~, and sometimes only 200k~, now it’s crazily overprized just because some random person was shouting that the price in our servers were too cheap, which made the game too easy.
