So a little bit of a concern for our horde of free players

There’s no reason they can’t release the names. I have a fairly good idea of how the databases are set up thanks to a mix of how transfers are run and just general database logic. It would be fairly easy to implement a name change to something formatted like Banned00001, Banned00002, Banned00003 etc for all teams that are banned that are linked to the login info of the restricted accounts.

Character names don’t matter anyways, as they aren’t unique identifiers. Only the player ID(which we can’t even see) and the Team Name (which might also even have a corresponding ID number, but there would be no reason for this) are unique. Changing the team names linked to banned accounts would fix this problem entirely.

Seems like many ways around this. Even now most gold sellers make macros to create 10+ accounts. Just script them to clean the dirty money, by many random transactions that split, join and leave some of the silver on each of them. Now try and trace it back to source.

Besides, 10k players for example, how much transactions would it be a month in millions you think? Store them for how long and where? It seems unrealistic.

Yes you can push a lot of transaction to launder your silver. But there is a reason why money launder will always find a way back. The problem is that the buyer usually doesn’t have much resources physically in game to trade for the silver. If they bought a upward of millions silver I doubt they have something of value for that, or enough raw material to trade for that in value. They wouldn’t have to buy silver if they had that much material/worth in the first place.

If the bots are buying the items off auction house at the average price to hide their history it can be easily trace. There are patterns you can look for. For example like you said I go in and decide to buy leaves, branches, and horns all off the auction house to flood my buy history making me look like I play the market.

Great but the cost of that is now I will inflate the cost of items and that could lead to inflate of other items, and to deflating to the worth of silver. You push more silver into peoples hand and it will also slowly rise the cost of items, because your supply and demand will start to skew. Then the worth of silver won’t be as much.

Unless you are the only gold seller there is bound to be someone fighting for customer. There is a reason why bots don’t just needlessly go in the market and raid the AH. That would destroy the economy.

Honestly it can be time consuming to trace through it and that is why you kill the buyer not the seller.

I mean DATA STORAGE IS CHEAP.

Looking at amazon today 4/26/2016 a 4 TB cost around 120-160 you can probably call up a company and buy in bulks if you wish.

Assuming you use sql server and the scheme below.
Varchar(100)Timestamp, Varchar(20) Seller, Varchar(20) Buyer, Varchar(256) SKU, Varchar(100) Quanity.
That would be roughly 500 bytes give or take for a single row.

1024 kilobytes = 1 megabyte
1024 megabytes = 1 gigabyte
1024 gigabytes = 1 terabyte

1024^4 = 1,099,511,627,776 (approximately 1 trillion bytes).

Now divide that by 500 bytes you get 2,199,023,255.552 records per hard drive. Buy say 3? You will have enough storage and then some for your transaction if you really want to push the limit get 10 and it might live til the game dies.

Storage capacity is the last problem to think about when solving these problems. If you want to talk unrealistic try figuring out googles storage problem, they have warehouse upon warehouse to store user data that are pack to the brim.

They already have a time limit of 48 hours on the retrieval of silver. So that cuts the amount of transactions you can logically make in a day since a single clump of silver is dead for a period of time.

Maybe there should be teleport events. You have 5-10 mins to go before you are forced to teleport. Once you teleported, there could be simple questions or task like for example; there are 5 anvils label 1-5. A message tells could tell u to like hit the combination of anvil where it equals to 5 x5 or something similiar. and they cant leave till they complete it or relog( just in case there was a problem) or use a teleport acrooll

Some RMTs have a person manning the bot for situations as you just described or sudden disconnects so they could likely figure a way around it, besides this isn’t a thread for solutions to botting… This is more a thread on “What about the names the clever bots are using that are getting banned?”

Hey, just found a Bot, seems like someone who got bored of grinding and left his character to be lvled with a bot system or something, map is Goddess’ Ancient Garden, Nardima Twin Waterfalls, Klaipeda server, Ch 2.
She is an ARCHER bot, you can know she is by first, her ats, too high, she’s lvl 96 but is only archer 2, uses no skills, and attacks the mobs by moving to the front or backwards while doing auto attacks
Her name is Curtains Curtains
I tried to paste the screenshot i took, but for some reason i can NEVER upload images to the forum of tree of savior :sob:, tried even changing my profile image, the upload reaches 100% and stays there, not letting me finish…
Anyways, seems bot classes are expanding

Just report them and what not, unfortunately yeah… some players are now botting, RMT are taking actual names now too it’s getting pretty bad.
