Sniper/AoE DPS Musketeer build help please!

Hi friends! This is my first post, and it’s for my first character too.

I’ve always loved the archer class and made sure to play it as my first character in any game I try out (RO, Luna Online, Dragonica, Grand Chase, etc), and so I chose an Archer as my first class here in ToS. I had no idea how class progression worked when I started this game and I felt that going Ranger was the way to go for me, so I did.

Now, I’m level 77 Ranger C2, and I want to build it into a Sniper Musketeer with AoE utility DPS skills for PvP/PvE.

This is what I have so far! I only started planning my class progression now because I’m about to get to Rank 4 so I have to somewhat work around what I already have.

I was really planning to go for Ranger C3 because Bounce Shot is such a sexy AoE DPS skill, but looking into it more I think I’d benefit more from the Archer C2 Swift Step +25% crit attribute. I chose to leave Swift Step at level 8 since I’m only after the crit buff anyway and the duration is 3 secs more than the cooldown, giving me enough room for making mistakes/running out of sp/casting other skills. Maxing Full Draw because I want people to stay put for a longer period of time so I can keep moving and snipe from a distance, and I took Kneeling Shot as a utility skill.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but does Swift Step 25% crit bonus stack with Sneak Hit 5 70% crit bonus = 95% crit increase? This is mainly why I wanted to go down this path. Taking Vendetta 5 because +25 STR is a pretty big deal, and Capture 5 because it’s a must for annoying opponents.

I left Flu Flu at 1 as a status-inflicting utility skill, and taking Cloaking allows me to steal magic circles or move behind Full Draw-pinned/status inflicted opponents for critical Snipes more easily.

Snipe and Headshot are my main skills as a Musketeer. I took Bayonet Thrust 1 as an emergency utility skill and Penetration Shot 1 as a utility AoE. Based on what I see, I think Covering Fire is more useful as an AoE DPS skill for PvE, am I right?

Stats right now are 20 CON, 31 DEX, and rest on STR. I plan on focusing on STR from now on since I’m relying more on crits and I’m probably putting in some SPR because Musketeer skills are hella SP expensive.

Please let me know what you think. Hope to learn a thing or two from you guys! Thanks lots!

Cheers!

Swift step takes your crit rate and adds 25% on it instead of giving you 25% crit. cant give any information on your other questions.

Bounce Shot isn’t that great and the damage falls off later on.

I’d take some points out of vendetta and put them into feint. There’s a hidden mechanic where feint + barrage makes barrage hit twice doubling the damage.

As for swift step. The 25% crit rate buff actually increases the CD by another +5 seconds so you should actually max out swift step for 100% uptime. As said before, Swift Step crit rate buff is different from Sneak Hit which is a flat 70% crit rate, Swift Step screen shots your character stats window and multiplies it by 1.25.

I’d also drop camouflage to Lv4 and max out Flare Shot especially when you can capture your Flare Shot ahead of time and use two of them simultaneously.

Don’t compromise your damage for SPR especially when your class don’t need it and we don’t have any actual access to Stat Reset Potion yet. The game gives you plenty of SP potions from questing. If you find yourself SP deprived, just invest into some SP recovery hair accessories. You can get about 136 SP recovery from perfect SP recovery rolls. Also you can buy Lv10 SP Potions from the auction house for a lot cheaper than from NPC merchants SP Recovery:Cost ratio.

‘‘Swift Step crit rate buff is different from Sneak Hit which is a flat 70% crit rate’’

It’s actually 70% crit chance

Bayonet Thrust is pretty lacklustre and so is Penetration Shot. Put 5 into Snipe, Headshot and Covering Fire.

All musketeer abilities have fairly long cast animations (1-2s) and Penetration Shot can only fire in the direction you are facing (starting point-blank from your character) with a very small width making it difficult to land let alone get maximum damage out of.

I see! So in that case, would you suggest putting in more DEX for crit chance nearer to 30% with Swift Step bonus so that +70% = ~100%?

I wasn’t aware of that! How many points would you suggest putting in Feint?

If that’s the case, where do you suggest I take two points out of? Full Draw or Multi Shot? I’m leaning towards leaving Multi Shot at 8 instead tbh.

Hmm, how does Flare Shot scale late game? There aren’t many videos that showcase it for me to note. Is it worth sacrificing the 10% decreased movement speed from Camouflage?

I see, I’ll take this into consideration, then. Heh.

I was thinking of getting Bayonet Thrust in case someone gets too close or I see someone with low hp nearby and I want to finish them off quickly (+Cloaking damage and Sneak Hit crit it might do a lot, no?), and Penetration Shot for AoE damage when (on the off chance) all other abilities are on cooldown.

Thanks for all your opinions so far! I’m learning a lot. Hehe.

Id take it out of full draw. Full draw lv7 is all you really need to insta cast it while multi shot scales better with every points. Lv10 multi shot fires 11 or so arrows.

1 point into feint is enough but it just comes down to personal preference. I personally would get it higher level to affect more mobs but that’s just my preference. Vendetta on the other hand is easier to proc solo but in team play it becomes trickier to time by end game.

Max Multi-shot. Ditch Oblique and Kneeling Shot. I guarantee you will not use either when you are Musketeer as you will have no time in your rotation nor will there ever be a scenario where using Kneeling Shot will be more advantageous over just using another one of your core abilities.

Ticks twice a second for 90% damage. Its a good skill, especially with rogue in your build.

Thanks for your input, guys!

So, this is what I have now:

I decided to keep Oblique at level 1 and because I find that it’s a quite a handy skill to have in PvE, but let’s see. I also left Vendetta at 1 because I don’t really plan on moving close enough to people just to cast it. (from the looks of it this build is seeming to lean more towards PvP now actually)

I’m probably still going to feel around what feels right as I approach late game, but that’s pretty far off.

Thanks again! ^^

If you want pvp, also get one point in heavy shot
it does bonus damage against plate iirc
also you should max or expend 4 points on feint
it increase the number of enemy per lvl
