Skin tone as part of character customization?

Oh man…it looks like when they created the costume textures, they didn’t even think that they’d add skin color options later down the road.

I’m optimistic in hoping that they have a professional artist who keeps a layered version of each costume, with the skin layers at the bottom no matter where it’s placed on the image.

Buuuut if they painted the skin with the clothing in the first place (no skin layers or anything), then it will for sure change the amount of time this will take. Just seems odd to not consider skin tone in the first place for an international game but shrug. ;v;

Thank you for providing all these pictures by the way! It’s really interesting to see the textures. :3 Customization fans unite \o/

I really want to bring up the topic of skin customization, I understand it might take a bit more work for Tree of Savior to give skin color as an option - but it really should be an option considering how practically every other MMO has a variety of skin color.

Hair colors are unlocked by achievement and you can change them on the fly in game.

Well, I’ve been trying to find it a second time, but I can’t seem to come across the information again. However, what I remember is that I found a file containing some sort of list of customization, of which included hair color, eye color, skin tone, and costume color options.

But, to calm everybody’s nerves, the exact quote from IMC during the Q&A was (I’ve pasted this so many times now ;n;):

Q) Can we change colors of the costumes in the game?
A) We are looking for the most optimized solution for this question. However, if we were to develop such feature, then we want to first change skin colors of the characters.

So, as it is said, the first option for “costume” changes will be specifically for the skin tone palettes. Honestly, that seems the easiest to change, anyway.

This bit is interesting to me  I only have access to the iCBT files, and even then I just realised I’m missing a few model files. I only found the different hair colors and some faces, but they’re all the same color in different angles (front, back, sides, dead, hit).

I haven’t found the eye colors or the costume color options yet. Maybe in a future beta eh? :sheep:

It would be cool if they added more skin tones as unlockable achievements, allowing players to change them on the fly instead of being locked into your starting one (like with hair styles)

Ohh, no, it wasn’t in those kind of files, it was like a script / list of options. There is a hair style npc script of some sort, and it does mention that there are up to 60 hairstyles. That’s probably just a placeholder number, but it’s there.

Interesting, interesting! I shall dig some more to see what I can find :smiley

Side note: I found some files regarding guilds. XD

-Edit-

I did find the file you’re talking about. My theory for this is 15 different hair styles per gender * 4 colors each = 60 total hair styles :s I could be wrong though!

Yeah, most of the fun stuff is in the addon file.

There’s 5 colors though?

5 might be default hair colors >_< I haven’t done a side by side comparison of all the hair styles yet, been too busy celebrating that I can animate the model now to do that XD

Either that or I’m counting weirdly. c.c maybe the hair stylist only let you change to the colors and not the default ones? I didn’t make it far enough in game to know.

There wasn’t a hair stylist - there’s a lot of stuff in the files that isn’t actually in the game.

I would love to have beards, tired of my character looking like a kid…I want to make a MAN LOL.

Beards may come into the game as face items.

But i remember it was previously mentioned that IMCgames found it important to have diverse skin tones represented.

Can we have noses as well ?
