Skill Simulator Beta

Hmm can you give me more details about what you did to cause this bug because I wasn’t able to reproduce it.

Ok, next update.

  • Updated skill tree (now includes 2 new Rodelero skills)
  • Added “required skill level” to attribute tooltips
  • Added attributes to saved skill builds e.g.
  • Skill tooltips now get updated when you change the level of a skill
  • Skill tooltips now show the values of the next level (if available)
  • Cryomancer skill description values are now complete

I wanted to add some more Classes today but then I thought those tooltips would be more useful so I rather focused on them. I hope you like these changes

Awesome. This is one of the nicest updates so far.

Something you can add that could be useful, but probably difficult to do if at all possible, is also show attributes that can be learned that aren’t connected to any skills. Something like the stun attribute of Clerics for Blunt Mastery. Maybe right below the Class name? Just a suggestion though.

And for the skills, maybe you could include the SP and cooldown to the scaling update. That would probably be useful too.

Btw, the 2 new Rodolero skills don’t show up for me. Idk why. D:

The new skills should now show up correctly

Adding SP and CD to the sclaling values is a good idea though I think CD usually isn’t changed based on the level but only attributes.

I’ll see if I somehow can display non-skill attributes, too.

Ok, I added a new version it can be tested here: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/beta/

If there are no major problems I will replace the current skill simulator version with the new one tomorrow.

Changes:

  • Implemented new rank system that allows you to choose between all previous classes
  • Replaced old class icons with new ones
  • Unselected class icons are now hidden. Click the selected class icon again to reset the selection and see the other icons again.
  • Skill icons are now bigger and the current skill level is displayed within the icon.

I hope everything works correct. If you find any problems or have other suggestions please let me know. Saving is already enabled in the beta version. This is how a new build can look like:

The new skill simulator is awesome, thanks Flash!

Sweet job on the updates flash!

If I may suggest a new addition to the simulator, by the way, it would be informing the number of skill charges for all skills (Such as how Energy Bolt has 3 charges, Ice Pike has 2, etc)

I think you should reduce the size of the selected class symbols by at least 25%. They’re too overwhelming in size and just make overviewing one’s build more difficult. If you do not shrink the inactive icons you need to be aware of the zoom effect when closing and opening a rank.

Next you should add the respective circle number to every icon, for example, like those red message counters on icons on your mobile. Symbolic representations ( increasing strings, circles, points, etc. on, around the icon) are also possible and would fit the overall design but might be less recognizable and more difficult to keep track of.

Lastly, it is annoying that the page scrolls if you close a rank ( second click on icon) that is on the upper half of the visible page. I get the obvious cause for it so maybe you can come up with some content you can place at the bottom to increase the minimal height or add a filler until you manually scroll up.

That said, thanks and nicely done.

Ok so my idea about the class icons is to move them from the right column to the left column below the Rank information. You can see this already on the build pages (I also added Circle information):

I think this already saves a lot of space. I also reduced the size of the skill icons a bit again.

For the skill simulator my idea is that once a class get selected all class icons of that rank are hidden and the selected class icon will be displayed below the Rank information just like on the build page. Once you reset the selection the class icon will disappear and the other icons will appear again. I think this might work but we will see when I finished it.

About the scrolling etc. I’ll see if I can smooth everything a little more

I also added another little feature that was missing since I created the new skill simulator:
You can now again select the max level of a skill by right-clicking it on level 0 so you don’t need to click hundreds of times for each build

While you should safe some space this measure is disadvantageous to lengthy fiddling with the build. With the current setup it’s very easy to select the class with very little mouse movement. You open and close the ranks back and forth multiple times. As such you want the icons to move as little as possible.

For the saved build page this is the right choice, however. That’s where presentation has the highest priority.

Edit: If you decide to keep the icons above the skills you can also move the skill counter to the upper corner or even a bit closer to the middle. I would do the same with the individual counters inside the icons, move them to the top left, so that the tooltip would never cover any of them.

I just want to ask flash if the skill attack, duration, effects are updated in this beta?

I didn’t change any skill values for the new simulator. I just changed the design and the Rank mechanic. However I do my best do add new values and update current ones all the time. I don’t announce these changes everytime but usually when several skills are completed.

thanks flash and great job

Skills that use the Overheat system (multiple uses before the CD triggers) now have a yellow “O” in the top left corner.

Why not display the number of charges, just like ingame, instead?

If I had the number I’d display it but I haven’t found the number of charges in the client yet :frowning:

Ah, makes sense. Well, simply knowing there are multiple charges is fine for now, thanks.

You can read the values on http://info.tos.nexon.com for now, taxing to automate the extraction though.

I finally added one of the most requested features: You are able to delete your old builds now!
(Well technically they will only be marked as deleted and then deleted later, but you won’t see them in build lists anymore)

This was part of a bigger updated I had planned for some time but that got postponed because of the recent changes in the Rank-Up System.
I reworked both the My Builds and Public Builds lists. They now show the icons of all selected classes so it should be easier for you to see builds you are interested in. I also added the option to search for a class so if you want to look for Chronomancer builds you can do this now:

If you are more interested in the newer builds you can now change to order of builds from Views to Date and you will always see the newest builds on top. I’m aware that the current default order by views kinda features outdated builds and I already have plans to work on it

To reduce the length of the page the builds are now split into different pages. Currently 15 builds are shown per page.

Do you think that’s ok or would you rather see more / less builds per page? Let me know what you think about these changes in general
