Simple Solution to KS'ing problems

this guy never see a bot before, exactly.
bots can pull everything on screen to their position and hit it first, yep, they’re programmed to be a freaking blackhole.

Dunno about the xp, but drops always go to who hit the mob first, you will see some times you don’t get a drop even when the mob has 100% hp, it’s because someone attacked the mob before but didn’t kill it, and it healed back to 100%, the drop still goes to the guy who attacked and left the mob there.

Ideally I’d like to see everyone get quest credit for damaging a mob as well as rewarding xp and loot for doing at least a minimum amount of damage. But your suggestion would acceptable with the stipulation that you only get one tag at a time. You only get one mob until you break the tag or the mob dies.

… What you just described is level 40- areas, I certainly don’t one shot mobs without a skill(same as most other classes) in the 100+ range. That or you’re being trolled by archers who are 30+ levels higher then the area you’re in.

I’m in a 228 area actually and the archer was 10 levels under me.

There’s tons of people who have stated and will vouch the level 200 areas mobs can’t be one shotted hence the popular complaint of WHY IS THIS GAME FORCING ME TO PARTY?!

I don’t doubt your level but I feel you’re exaggerating what really happened given what others stated about the same range.

If you really wanted to do something like that; you would have to do it, old school FFXI style. First one to DAMAGE the mob claims it. Meaning you can’t do anything to it, literally until the player dies or leaves or does nothing to it for an amount of time.

Anyone with Taunt your way, would literally screw everyone else. You need to have done damage to it. If two people DoT a mob. The First to Tick, is the person who claims. With that said, I highly doubt anything will change on this. Mob timers maybe adjusted and although I want to reach through the screen at every single Archer and punch them in the face sometimes because it seems 9/10 of them, just don’t care and have no issue watching you punch something til 2/10ths of HP is gone then they blast away the rest as fast as possible.

Primarily this would really hurt full Support Classes in general. Although, I guess not much would change anyways. Shrug

Basically just a carbon copy of what WoW does, which is actually good as far as tagging goes.

With world bosses everyone who did damage to the boss would get credit (with some of those bosses, actual raid bosses that you needed guilds for would not)

I think that tagging is probably better than the system we have in place right now. Even though exp gain goes <than to the person with the most damage on the mob, the count for kill quests still go to last hit.

Ummm. Why would you even try to solo a world boss as a support? O.o Your job is to support the ones who do the damage! That is the way support gets their cubes (once one person from the aprty gets to top6, everyone in the aprty gets a cube).

The only problem is that a few strongest people can easy deny cubes from others and control the prices of the rare items. But not everyone should get the cube either.

I think perhaps tagging might not be the optimal solution.

It could be randomly divided between all attacking players. Or something algorithm based. All I know for sure is the ‘last hit gets all’ isnt that good. Tagging is slightly better yet at face value is basically the reverse scenario.

World bosses deserve their own specific loot system.

Tagging and then splitting the exp evenly between all party members is a good and fair way to do it. Also individual drops for every player is also good.

having mobs free for all kind of screws people who do a lot of damage and the other person who gets the last 2% get the prize is a bit lame.

As someone who plays an archer, with cleric as an alt, this wouldn’t work. I can’t imagine how easy it would be for my archer / how hard it would be for my cleric -> to tag those mobs.

I prefer it to simple give quest credits to all the players who atacked it instead of the one who tags or does the last hit. It’s just a band aid solution and brings problems on it’s own, but well, at least allows progress.

One thing to improve ur tag suggestion is to keep the limit of tags to 5 as is the aggro limited, so Ranger’s barrage wouldn’t tag everything on the screen. Sorry if this was already on ur mind.

About drops, individual drops are okay for me. Everyone that helped (including buffs/heals to another member that dealt damage) would get it’s own loot chance. Much like in LoL shielding a player who kills another count’s as an assist.

this guy should just stick to singlew player game

Parties ignore support classes most of the time. Anyways same parties camp same bosses so it’s not worth trying

sigh, this is a delicate issue, while i agree that individual drops would be a nice mediation, but any change that deals with exp is quita abussable, anyone with a high lvl friend would get tons of easy exp just by hitting a monster once and letting the other guy kill them for him so IMO exp should still be proportional to damage done, yes it has its implications, no its not perfect, yes its abusable, not every class is suposed to be good at everything, be it farming, bossing, camping, pve, pvp, pvx, whatever. Unless everyone is ready to aford nerfs on any other area they excel but they are not taking on acount they should not mess with the courent system.

I prefer to believe that people is able to confront their problems by strategy or mutual help rather than crying over the rules of the game.

There is literally no solution to KSing in this game. Deal with it.

No one mentioned Guild Wars 2?

No one can be a ■■■■ there even if you tried. If you try “killstealing”, you’re actually just helping the other player kill it, both of you get the same exp and an equal chance at loot.

(I am aware GW2 areas are larger than TOS maps)

But supports are the best to habe in a party since your partya combined dmg doesnt help anything. Just need that one top dps. I guess people will realise that at some point or they wanna deny cubes and do it with high dps friends.

Your simple solution was the “to go” method before it was scraped from mmos, because its crap.

If a bot is ksing you, just report.

Now if a player is KSing you, well its just the ways the kids do stuff nowdays, they are just a bunch of self entitled pricks. And i really see no options in dealing with this kind of player.

Kids these days… Im 36 and im kinda perplex with the kind of players the online community have to deal with the last 5-10 years… and getting progressively worse.

Most the people farming bosses are several levels above said boss with ridiculous level of equipment, meaning they can destroy said boss and go wait at the next one.

A solution to this would make it so everyone participating in the boss raid would get loot and honestly the only people complaining about it are those who want these items to be very limited + controlled to begin with.
