Simple feedback for simple issues

Greetings to the iToS staff. I’ve had a couple of things on my mind while playing the game lately (been a long-time sorta fan) and decided to share them in here. I’ll divide them in two sections.

1 I’m a Wizard-Thaumaturge and this section is in regards to these classes only.

  • Reflect Shield has been since the begining an annoying buff to use. Even if the skill is decent, one thing that always bothered me was the sound effect it makes for as long as it’s up. Back in 2016 the visual effect’s brightness was toned down and made easier on the eyes too, but it’s still the ugliest buff out there. Onmyouji’s new shield, while being quite similar to Wizard’s Reflect Shield, looks a lot better.

  • Please add a mechanic/skill/attribute for Thaumaturges to cast Swell Left Arm, Swell Right Arm and Swell Brain all at once, with one button press. The cast animation for the three skills takes too much time in combat. This was far more annoying during 2016 when these buffs didn’t last a minute even, so now that they have a longer duration it’s much more comfortable, but still awkward to do mid-combat.

2 Miscellaneous. This section will be divided in two itself.

a) Old feedback. Feedback that was given years ago but was forgotten/never saw any direction.

  • Make a hang-out cafe-style building in Klaipeda or any other city where players can meet and relax, or play the long forgotten /cardbattle mini-game.

  • New maps being more open and bigger (see Ragnarok Online), not narrow corridors with not much exploration going on for them like most are now.

  • That said, ask around the dev team (contact former employees by phone/email if need be) and take a hard look at the earlier developed maps like West Siauliai, Klaipeda, Crystal Mines, Tenet Garden, Tenet Church. These maps have a lot of attention to detail, they reward players for exploring and going out of the beaten path, or noting down special spots to come back to later, like the hidden area in West Siaulai. In short, for newer maps go back to the roots. Make them interesting not only graphically speaking. We don’t need super huge raids with Mountain Dew™ boss monsters for Epic Loot©. What keeps normal players hooked and new ones coming is attention to detail, engaging content, social aspects, working together, and a sense of coherence in the game content.

b) Personal feedback. Stuff that occurred to me while playing recently.

  • Can we have normal map names again? Lanko 26 Waters or Sausys Room 9 or Valandis Room 91 sound really, really lame. They don’t say anything about the map, no interesting theme or identity, like in previous maps. These numbered map names just give the impression they were hastily and lazily done, outright generic.

  • Please don’t make of the new especialist class costume quests a bad habit or excuse for making ugly and uninspired base costumes for Rank 8 classes. That’s dishonest really. Making the base costumes look plain intentionally while gating the pretty costumes quest-exclusive. I’m onto you. Matador’s and Shadowmancer’s and Onmyouji’s base costumes are criminally plain. I am one who remembers when Matador for example had all the detail and nice looks of the quest costumes they have now. You guys used to put a lot of effort and love into classes, don’t let this new system ruin that.

  • People have been complaining about the game’s difficulty ever since the first Korean closed-beta. IMC has tried many things, but real difficulty in games comes from giving the systems depth. Make combat fun by giving monsters engaging tools, like parrying or countering normal attacks, reflect or absorb damage, cast powerful AoE damage storms, or buff other monsters nearby. Don’t just give interesting things to boss and elite encounters. Monsters that use Teleport and Safety Zone are outright lame and obnoxious. It only interrupts the flow of battle. Also, monsters that fly but use Heal tiles… was that supposed to be an inside joke at the office?

  • Please find a more convenient way to show detailed maps for each zone in the World Map (N) than hovering over the mouse cursor. It can be annoying and for some reason it consumes a lot of memory resources for the PC.

The game has been improving greatly since the blunder that was 2016, let’s try to keep the good work.
