Share your Stories: Early Access in other Games

Might be a little off topic, but I wanted to hear people’s experiences in other MMO games when it comes to Early Access. Did the game last for you? Did you get what you paid for? How does that experience contribute to your feelings about EA for this game?

paid for Ragnarok early access, still playing it.

Elder Scrolls Online early access: /stuck to respawn every couple hours bc you got stuck in a tree, under those stairs, in thin air… I even heard people falling off the map Skyrim style.

Though that EA was only ~a week, but the issues carried on for a little more time than that. The game is in a much much better state now.

Ask TRION how ArcheAge was.

Neverwinter Online - I paid for a $50 founder type pack. I got about 3 weeks of gameplay in before the game started losing traction with me. I got about 60 hours out of the experience, so technically I got my money’s worth time-wise but I was disappointed that the game experience didn’t stick with me. Huge Dungeons and Dragons fan, big tabletop player here, but the game just didn’t pan out for me. I guess D&D works out better in my imagination than it did on a MMO engine.

It made me think twice about dropping any money on a founders pack or early access after that, I passed on H1Z1, which I’m glad I did.

I played in the ArchAge early access for $150. Played with my best friend and I get to say it was the most fun I’d had playing a game in a long time. Everything was exciting and new, we got farm plots and spent time farming, we explored the world and ran dungeons as a duo, it was great. The highlight of it all was when we were going for our medium farm plot and had to take our dinky little rowboats and avoid all the higher levelled monsters and pkers. It was super tense and stressful, but the moment we landed on the other side was probably the best feeling I’ve ever had in gaming. And then as everyone knows, release happened and AA became the butt of every early access joke. I still believe every penny I spent was completely worth the experience it gave me in the early access.

FFXIV 2.0 had “early access” for paying players or for previous players,It was shorter, by far, than the EA here (more of a headstart). The part where it’s similar is that they had so-called legacy servers which had established characters from the 1.0 version of the game on them. You could create on them or on a fresh start server. It provided a different gaming experience and I’m still on a legacy server to this day. In general it’s been great and I’m really hoping that the same thing happens here in regards to the worries about the one month head start that it looks like some players are goin to get. I don’t mind one bit.

I dont really care about higher level and ■■■■, most times I use it to get intel and use the secrets and tips I got on my favour (yup, I am a beater).
I love crafting so I end giving some of the itens I makde to level crafting for free to newcomers on the realease.
But the best thing is the knownledge, if you have the right information not only you level really quick and get the best stuff and skills but also know hidden quests and ways to better use or avoind skills.
