Seriously, Do away with gem dropping

As someone who’s played a hundred or more MMOs since 2003, i can honestly say the concept of “item dropping” is the most infuriating and unnecessary feature of death in any game. It’s even worse here where the drop rate for gems is 100%. Gems may not be something that some player see as really valuable, but the sheer fact that you lose ALL of something every time you die, something that is used to enhance weapons that currently (as far as i have heard) only go up to lv 40, seems like a really pathetic way to try and sell premium currency after beta. Couple this fact with the realization that some classes that don’t build a lot of HP or benefit more from cloth armor over more durable plate, like wizard branch, can take upwards of 80% health from a single attack if caught in the wrong place in a really mobby area and the fact that you already lose a huge chunk of durability when you die feels like more of an unnecessary player punch than a “dynamic feature”.

I don’t know what core audience you’re trying to build, but In a lot of places i’ve seen this done, it’s reserved for more “badlands open PVP” places. I’d seriously consider taking this out all together.

you only drop gems on death on “dungeon” type maps. And (normal)gems drop from monsters only on “dungeon” type maps too so if you farm them and cannot get safely outside - it is a fair penalty.

Be aware and beware.

I think you should drop everything when you die except for a few items and make some areas pvp.

If you dont wan’t to lose gems put them in the bank

naaaw, penalty on death just increases the need for Priest’s resurrection /gg

and squire’s repair ability for fixing gear in/after hard dungeon/mission.

I would rather they just put in a 5% xp loss or something. This is a minor issue in a game where I can facetank 40 mobs and 3 bosses and probably not die though.

How is this an issue? There are two easy solutions to this problem

1 : Place your gems in the warehouse whenever you get some. IF you’re too lazy to even do this, you deserve to lose your gems.

2 : Get good and stop dying. This one is a bit trickier, but as long as you have any one of the 3Ps, you can do it. They are “Practice”, “Parties” and “Priests”.

What’s funny is that if they meant for this to be a harsh penalty when dying, why do they make it so easy to circumvent it? (depositing it in your storage)

Sorry I know today’s games like to cater more to the player than on how the game is meant to be played. Dying NEEDS a penalty. Your gems are that penalty. I have not died once in this game because I party or I just dont try to fight things 40+ levels above my own.

The gem loss is much less a penalty then say, 25% durability reduction on death or experience loss. Pick your poison, cause they picked the least potent one.

Just make sure you dont upgrade your gems and then go afk and die as i did.
Might be the most stupid thing ive ever done, luckily only lost a lvl4 gem if it had been higher id have cried blood.

Not an issue just store them when you go back to town, the worse you will lose are lv1 (and immediately use a scroll to town when you get a monster gem).

No, dying does not NEED an extra penalty on top of time wasted running back to where you were.

I lost my 2 pcs 4 star gems, and I was suppose to respawn with icoins to get it but I ran out.

There is a NPC in first town kladiea cant spell that  were you can get more icons, look for the lena on the map and turn in accomplishments to her.
I got hundreds of icoins and nothing to spend them on.

Yeah well I forgot to get mine and did not realize I ran out

can you all really justify loss of items when their server constantly lag and cause issues? durability and exp are fine and easy to get back, but gems are pretty hard to come by (at least at level 36 they are)

I can’t really argue with the lag since the issue on my end is mainly location and piss-poor internet providers. It seems to be a method for them to make you spend icoins. I think it’s fair. That, or an exp penalty. Failure must always be met with punishment, be it a penalty.

I always place my good gems in storage before I go into dungeons, so the worse that could happen is that I lose materials. Now imagine other MMORPGS where you could lose your equips when you die. (I vaguely recall one MMORPG like that some time ago).

TLDR: I think its fair. It could be worse.

enhancement prices, now that’s something i think they need to reconfigure

I’m not arguing with the fact that there should be a death penalty. but you already lose a lot of durability, but something like losing more exp or silver, something thats not impossible to get back with a little work. so far i’ve only found one place to get gems and thats from chests in low level dungeons

Someone died in front of me the other day and i wasnt able to pick up their gems. Very disappointing. Is it supposed to work like that?
