Schwarzer Reiter "Retreat Shot"

Watch the first 20 seconds of this and you will know what I am talking about:

Is this how the skill is being used?! I mean, really?

Running into walls to maximize dps with a game mechanic only works in so many scenarios for me… and since those are very few I am wondering whether there is no other method to make good use of this skill.

Can’t you just stand on a spot and shoot backwards? Run and stop, run and stop?

People with experience - please let me know, as I am very interested in this type of high mobility character. Thank you

its our best skill running into a wall and shooting is the best thing we get. We even need to get C2 to make it hit 10 mobs at once and double its damage. Wild shot is such a garbage skill too.

and no you cant stand in one spot and shoot cause that isnt retreating is it? lol

I wouldn’t consider SR high mobility. They’re slightly a little faster than normal running. Cataphract now that’s true mobility. SR2 has 2 useless skills with the other two making you stationary while charging and the third retreat shot being the only mobile skill. As for retreat shot you have to constantly be moving. There’s two ways to use retreat shot however. One is the one in the video wall walking. The other is to hold down auto attack while using retreat shot simultaneously. This will slow you down to archers auto attacking walking speed. This method will allow you to maximize your dps when there is no wall.

ive actually never knew about the second way of using it il test it out thank you.

can you make a video to showcase it?

why make a video when its already posted?

While I’ll agree that wild shots damage is garbage, I’ve come to terms with it. Like multi shot and concentrated fire, aoe attack ratio affects wild shot too which makes it worthwhile to use it you went QS route like me.

Slowing down through autoattack - good to know!

sadly i went ranger route and that skill is just not very good…i mean maybe il test it out now since i got two gladiator bands but the fact that its such a weaker skill and exactly like concentration shot doesnt bold well for me…

If you watch at 0:12 and 0:18 you can see him using the slow walk retreat shot. Slow retreat shot removes the retreat shot animation but it’s still shooting.

Fun fact: you can hit monsters behind you with autos simultaneously with retreat shot. Or if you went QS you can hit monsters with running shot autos and retreat shot simultaneously for mad dps (wall walking required cause of speed reverting back to running shot movement speed)

What’s your ping if I may ask? I read that QS depends very much on your connection… and since I travel a lot and have varying degrees of quality available I had my eyes on the ranger route for the moment (A2,R3,SR2).

It’s clearly visible, yes… thanks for showing the vid.

My ping fluctuates between 40-100 for the most part . i only really notice the difference in slower auto attack when the server gets unstable and shoots me up to the 200-300 range.

That’s where I’m playing at

In case you guys were interested in seeing running shot and retreat shots burst potential. This isn’t the best demonstration as I just realize how laggy tenet garden was.

still cant figure out the slow walk retreat shot? you able to type out the steps in getting it to work?

Really impressive, wow. This might give me a bit of a headache in terms of QS or Ranger…

When I use Retreat Shot pressing the shortcut key, the skill is canceled after 1 or 2 seconds. I need to right click it and even so the skill is canceled sometimes, I don’t know why…

You pretty much just do the standard retreat shot aiming at the mobs you want to hit but holding down your auto attack button along with the directional button.

If you play mouse mode like me, I’d just hold down retreat shot (since it tends to bug out and cancels after 2 shots) directional button and auto attack (keyboard auto attack hotkey and not the mouse left click). I actually binded my auto attack onto a macro button on my g600 mouse so that I can focus on holding down retreat shot and directional buttons with my left hand and holding down auto attack hotkey on my mouse with my right hand. This lets you set up slow walk retreat shot with ease and easier to maneuver and change directions.

Have you tried putting it on different shortcuts (also different areas on the keyboard)?
