Scheduled Maintenance for October 23, 2018

What you are saying yet again is basically just how everything is the players’ fault. You are just looking for excuses for IMC.
Truth is, IMC faces the same issues as any other game developer. And IMC completely fails where others tend to succeed.
You wouldn’t imply that ToS’ players are dumber and more rabid than players from other games, right?

And your velcoffer example is hilarious. If IMC’s response to “I want more things to do in game that will last for several months.” is simply adding more dumb RNG with stupidly low chances of success, then this is where the real problem is.
You somehow managed to transform “I hate RNG” into “I want instant gratification”.

All right, let’s assume IMC is the most terrible horrible godawful publisher on the planet. What makes players stay and play the game, even after all the ■■■■ that IMC has thrown out?

See latest Goddess Cube.

Every single MMO since the dawn of time has some kind of randomized element to make content last as long as possible. If you got every single thing you needed the first time you ran content, you would have no reason to set foot in it ever again.

What would be the alternative to all the layers of RNG? A guaranteed way of getting gear after a certain number of runs? Oh wait, they’re already implementing that with the new raids.

Ichor is disgusting. I understand that they need to make content that takes awhile but that is not the way to go. Velcoffer is layers of layers of rng stacked on each other which just causes frustration. Players feel like they wasted their time because they end up with a junk pile. Hey guys i finally got my velcofffer weapon after running velcoffer for 1 month + spending 140m (or so) rerolling. -5minutes later= +6 0pot. Im quitting

Repeat each rng for your 5 velcoffer pieces. You can skip 4 if you aren’t doing weapon
1st RNG : Primus/berthas stat. You can skip this ofc if you use masi.
2nd RNG: Ichoring, 5% chance consumes money, sierra, potential. Nice
3rd RNG : Set effect. 3mil a try or was it 4m. 12mil a try for weapons.
4th RNG: Enhancement.
5th RNG: Opening cubes, ofc you can just run more so this isn’t a big deal

I got a whole ichored velcoffer set and i would NEVER do it again. The amount of frustration that came from ichoring, enhancing, set effect is stupid. The main issue is its mainly out of my hands. Its roll a 5% or git gud because its rng and out of my hands.

Btw here is my failure list

There is actually 3 dead asura gauntlet but i didnt post it. And i think 1 more top i forgot to post

I hate you

those are suppose to be failures ?_? those are my biggest success and I don’t get that far :pensive:

Failure as in i tried to ichor them but the 5% chance failed and so it got trashed

Yeah? Wanna see mine?

I still ended up with a completed set after like a month and a half. That’s faster than every other MMO I’ve ever played, and it simply required playing the game at a pretty reasonable clip. Yeah, I had to farm for silver. Yeah, I had to expect to fail and over-farm for certain ichors.

My WoW guild literally never saw the drops required for Thunderfury, until the week before BC came out. That was what, an entire year of doing the same raids over and over again? 40 people knocking out an old raid for an upgrade for 1 person and getting screwed by RNG sure is fun, isn’t it?

People spend their money stupidly, waste any successes they do get, and then get upset when even the smallest thing goes wrong. Even when the RNG pendulum swings out of their favor, they completely ignore the fact that they had so many successes and focus solely on the failed ichor attempt and do even sillier things like anvil something to 0 potential when they could have just kept it at 1, sold it to someone willing to golden anvil it for an alt, and made some money. But again, people have an assbackwards way of approaching the problem. Instead of saving diamond anvils for several months knowing a legendary raid is coming out, saving up tons and tons of silver knowing that at least one or two weapons probably won’t get to +16 or that ichor is probably not gonna go as planned, it’s like nah ■■■■ it I’ll just make 20 alt accounts and buy 20 blacksmith packs oh man I’m out of diamond anvils when I really need them man +6 0 potential Velco weapons whoops what happened

And no one ever proposes an alternative. And it doesn’t matter even if they did. IMC could implement literally anything and we’d still have to deal with the absurd complaints from some other sect of the community who just can’t wrap their head around all the warning messages they get when they’re about to do something, or can’t seem to understand that 315 weapons aren’t worth 20m and they suddenly don’t have the silver to buy something they actually need, or feel like they need to advertise every single time an ichor fails because I’m sure all those people who successfully did it just RMT’d or whaled their way to victory, right?

The point is not that whether you can finish it or not. The point is that the system creates frustration among the player base. I have yet to see anyone praise the ichor system or how its implemented. Your method or reply is basically “deal with it.” Thats cool and all but it doesn’t meant the system is good or shouldnt be changed

Those items were taken with 1 pot because i sold/gave them out with exception of the daggers. I really wanted 2 of those ichors and I was willing to break it, not to mention 3 golden socket on a dagger costs too much

Frustrated players = unhappy players. unhappy players = they quit. Its a pretty simple equation and its reflected in the player count drop.

And no one ever proposes an alternative.

There are tons of proposition for alternatives. They just need to increase the 5% to something reasonable or maybe not even rely on a potential system for ichor. Any of those 2 would decrease the frustration out of ichoring

The problem is how this RNG is implemented. You are saying that IMC’s idea of “randomness” is fine because all games have some kind of RNG system. While clearly it’s not, people have been complaining about this since forever. And it’s not only about how you obtain end-game gear. It concerns anything involving RNG: enhancement, ichoring, but also gacha cubes (or the former DPK system). It’s almost like their RNG is specifically designed to hurt the player. Literally. Designed to make you feel like crap.

And for the alternatives, maybe IMC should just play some other video games and see how other competent developers and game designers do things?

All I can say is that the impact of failed dice rolls shouldn’t be as heavy and soulcrushing as it is in ToS.
Also, the higher the frequency of successful dice rolls is, the better: it’s less frustrating to farm 100 ingredients at 10% drop chance each, than 1 ingredient at 0.1%.

Too many people don’t realize this because they have probably only played casual crap so far. ToS for me is a… “retirement MMO”… as in, comfy and easy.

I will agree with this part, however, RNG is just RNG. 1/20 in ToS is the same as 1/20 in every other MMO I’ve played.

Trust me, I’ve seen people post multiple page rants about how RNG sucks even at 99% success rates, when RNG decided to ■■■■ on them and fail at that 1%.

I wonder how long it took to farm those 5 cards to only see them snuffed in one instant…

what if they were whaled
