Tree of Savior Forum

Saw this response on the survey, and it perfectly summarized how I felt - Let's Discuss

So I was scrolling through the results of the survey we received, and I came across this very thorough piece of feedback:

Too many things to list, so I’ll try to summarize. Combat was excruciatingly boring. Normal attacks 99% of the time is not fun. CD are waay too high. SP regen is non-existent. Skills don’t scale at all and become worthless fast. Lots of worthless skills, or skills that I shouldn’t need to put a point into. Skills like the Sorcerer’s Ride, Variation, Hold, and Attack Ground skills. Bokor’s Tet Mamak skill. Quarrel Shooter’s Stone Picking skill. Skills like that should be given for free as soon as I pick the class. Don’t make me waste skill points on basic functions of the class. The VAST majority of attributes are worthless and not worth the investment.

Tooltips in general, whether they be for skills, attributes, items, or whatever, don’t supply even close to enough information I need. They only give me about 10% of the information I need. There are some good threads of the forums for what needs to be in tooltips. Grinding is boring, need to make it actually fun if you want us to grind. EXP rates are abysmal. As an altoholic, I feel like I would have to give up on having a life if I want to play this game.
Bosses are boring. Make the AI actually good. Make them faster. Make them move around more. Make them use more skills instead of standing still for 8 seconds all the time. A good model to aspire to would be Maplestory 2 bosses. Get rid of traps. They’re a lazy band-aid fix. The AI in general needs to be improved. Companions, monsters, bosses, just about everything acts like it has down syndrome.

Archer monsters are OP. Guaranteed hit, unless evade, plus a ■■■■ ton of damage = not fun. Questing was boring as well. Extremely linear with no variation. Go here, do this, now go here and do this until no more quests in this area. Go to next area and repeat. That’s not fun, and making the quests “hidden” didn’t do anything. Once again, that’s just a lazy band-aid fix that does nothing to solve the problem. You have to, like the majority of things in this game, rework it from the ground up. There’s a lot more things wrong with this game, but I’m getting tired of typing.

The feedback section of the forums is filled with everything you need to fix. As for the beta in general. For me, I didn’t have much, if any, fun playing this game. With the game design choices you made, gameplay felt tedious and boring. I feel like there is a good game underneath all the horrible design choices, but as of right now the game is simply not fun. Sorry be be so harsh, but I don’t like pussyfooting around the issue. I want this game to be the best it can be. All in all, I would say this game is nowhere near finished. I hope there are some major changes in the works.

As he/she said, there is a LOT of work to do on this game. But I also feel like there is a good game underneath it all, and would love to see it come up. I would love to have some constructive discussion based on this.

Whoever wrote this, you did a very good job with it. Thanks for providing the feed back!

I disagree with almost everything lol. The combat felt nice to me, I enjoy when my skills are IMPORTANT and i cant spam it 24/7. “Guys make skills have no cd” yeah because permanent cc(earthquake) is so good right? Lol. Cds make timing important and player decision matter more on pvp. Cleric casts safety zone in a wrong place, he is now ■■■■■■ for 30-50 secs.

Bosses i agree with, they need some tweaking.

I disagree about the exp rate being too low/grind being boring//hidden quests being linear, boring. I enjoyed having to explore all the maps to find hidden/side quests, because guess what? Thats how rpgs used to be when u didnt have tons of walkthroughs on the internet.(probably you were too young to play rpgs in those glorious days, where it’d take u hours upon hours to 100% an rpg, bc u had to search everywhere for what u needed).

I disagree with absolutely everything except this

Bosses are boring. Make the AI actually good

I don’t want to spam skills, having to manage sp use & sp pots expenditure was pretty much the only difficulty the game offered for me.

I agree, SP regen only works if u walk without auto attack, for rangers that doesn’t fit well
and the combats are too slow…

I’ll just list what i agree on.

1 - SP Regeneration is really non-existent, this must be improved asap because it’s crippling Wizard classes.

2 - More information on things would also be nice, people are currently struggling with some Alchemist skills. I’m not sure if this is intended, like, they want people to figure it out by themselves with almost 0 information about it? If so, it’s ok then.

3 - Bosses need some sort of improvement, they are indeed extremely boring. They just take a long time to die due to the huge HP and sometimes OHKO you with some invisible skill. They changed how traps are handled recently so i’m good with that.

4 - Archer monsters are extremely broken imho, you can’t get out of the way of their attacks and the damage is too high. The fix is simple tho, make the arrows avoidable by movement or decrease the damage.

Regarding Sorcerer, Bokor, Quarrel Shooter skills, i didn’t play these classes so i can’t say much.

EXP Rate is a huge subject for discussion and we had our fair share of topics about it so, i’m not saying anything about this.

I’m all for constructive criticism of the game, especially in the survey. But some things mentioned in this response likely won’t change and will just be adjusted or slightly improved. It seems like this person [and I don’t mean this offensively] isn’t going to enjoy this type of game.Just saying.

Wholeheartedly agree, and if the developers wish to listen to him/her, we could have an amazing game. Hopefully the road to the full release is a little bit longer than we expect so they can hammer out the small details like this.

Why do people keep thinking a game with no cooldown is good? “Let me just freely spam earthquake or safety zone or whatever op skill I’ve that is gated by cooldown”.
Also, it makes it easier for players to spam only their best skill and forget about the others(Like it happened in RO).

Nobody is asking for zero second cooldown skills like Ragnarok had. Thirty seconds to make a mage useful again? Really? This has to be improved. The flow of the game feels painfully slow, especially during boss time.

My pyromancer dealt 3k damage against chappariton each 20 seconds(level 5 fire ball, level 10-15 attribute). So underpowered. Maybe people ■■■■■■ up their attributes? their skills? IDK but pyromancer is one of the best DPS classes I played, with one of the fastest boss killing time.

i agree 100% about bosses, SP regen, and skill improvement. there’s plenty of work to be done and there are definitely aspects that will be changed in some way.

but this game is still somewhat of a niche game. there are some things that it’s not willing to change even if it means letting down a huge casual audience. it’s still a retro korean grinder at heart that refuses to hold your hand.

Well, I disagreed with everything the poster said except for the boss difficulty thing… wow…

What can I say? I’m sorry this person didn’t enjoy the game very much. However, the survey shows exactly what the masses think about their experience.

As for the CD reduction… I think that case is pretty much a 50/50 split in the community. I think… it’s a little conceited and arrogant to say your opinion is what will make a great game. It will make it a great game for you, possibly, but IMCgames wants to make a game that everyone can have fun with. I think it’s prudent not to discount 50% of people’s opinions… surveys still have meaning behind them

This post was flagged by the community and is temporarily hidden.

Everything is an opinion in the end, unless supported by facts. Because the criticism addressed all the problems I had on the tip of my tongue, and actually resolves them in a way that would be more agreeable to my idea of a good game, I don’t think it’s conceited to say it would make it great. It’s an opinion, and I can’t prove it, but the point of the survey is to give your opinion. I think mine (and of course yours and everyone’s) matters at least a little bit in this case. Dunno why you would go out of your way to target mine.

I was targeting you?

I didn’t notice, sorry if you felt that way, but I was replying directly to the topic. If I wanted to target you, I would have just replied to your post directly. I kind of have a language disorder, so I’m ruthlessly blunt and direct when I talk. I actually remember telling an old lady while I was examining her hair, “Your hair is grayed out, but that’s normal for someone your age” without a bat of an eyelash and my instructor commented how absurdly blunt that was.

In other words, just take what I say at face value, and nothing more.

Also… Archers aren’t guaranteed hits… they’re just very difficult to dodge. A friend of mine noticed this when an arrow flew past him and he commented, “Wait? They’re not guaranteed hits?”

I then followed to test this out with a single archer, and, in fact, archer shots are not guaranteed hits when I’m running perfectly perpendicular to them.

Ive seen people saying this, but Ive grinded Ponds a fair bit, and their attacks are very avoidable. They take aim, and fire but if you move out of the line they are aiming before they fire the arrow, then the attack misses you. =|

Everyone enjoy the game differently.
To me, the grinding can be and can be not boring at the same time.
It is depending on the party you have.
One of the best features that attracted me to have a party aside from getting a better experience rate compared to grinding alone is to make friends, to interact in short.

You can talk about your experience in game, strategies to grind or some topic outside from the game if you’re willing to share. The community of a MMORPG is what makes the game lively and fun to play in my opinion.

For the difficulty of the game, generally it was okay. I spent 2-3 days grinding probably 7-8 hours a day. I managed to reach lvl45, not the highest level character in the closed beta of course, but as the game offers a higher degree of difficulty, i do enjoy playing them. TOS has become more challenging compared to most MMORPGs nowadays.

Meanwhile, I do also agree about the long cooldown of some skills, i do not have a mage character during the iCBT, maybe if IMC can slightly improve on this, it will make some classes more fun to play. But the long cooldown also make you value your skills properly and make sure you’re using them wisely. Not just spamming them.

For the bosses, the attack patterns are constant and similar. No doubt on that.
It will be nice and challenging if the bosses skill indicator can be removed. But I bet people will start complaining that it is too tough by then.

All the comments above are just my personal opinions. do not get offended if you don’t think the same & feel free to voice out yours as well.

He’s not talking about archers using their abilities, which Ponds definitely do and are completely avoidable because of the warning beforehand, he’s talking about archers normal (auto) attacks. They are undodgeable because they home in on you at a speed that is impossible to avoid. Not to mention I think they count it as a hit even if the animation hasn’t reached you, but I can’t confirm that.

It’s definitely unfair to players who don’t have a high evasion stat, because you can’t manually dodge their hits.

Like I said, I’ve grinded them a lot. The only attack I’ve seen them consistently do (apart from caltrop) is that same one where they aim and fire in a direction. I haven’t seen any homing hits, the only time I would be hit is if I stopped moving. I’m very sure the attack I’m talking about IS their normal attack.

Okay dude too many things u dont like i tell this right now, This game is not for you better look for other.
