[Review] Archer C3 > Sapper C3 > Cannoneer C1

Preface

Hello guys. I’m Nieo from SEA Varena.
I joined ToS about a month. This is my first character.
Hopes to get some advice from your feedbacks. :smiley:

Class Route

My class route is Archer C1~C2 > Sapper C1~C3 > Archer C3> Cannoneer C1.
Well, you may ask why I choose Archer C3 at my 6th rank…
I just wanted to fill my Archer with 3 stars. Nothing more to explain, I was totally a newbie, haha. But I never regret. Choose what you like, play what you love, that’s game.


Skill Reviews

Archer

Multi Shot
This is one of the best skill of ToS IMO. Although I’m R7 now, I’m still using it.
Gain extra shot each level, Lv15 grant 16 shots. With Divine Might can do 17 shots.
Low mana cost, high efficiency during whole game. Only cons is can not be attacked during charging or it get interrupted.

AoE attack Ratio can afftet Multi Shot. I found it when my friend reach Sorcerer. With Summon Servant buff each arrow can hurt 2~4 (depends on enemy AoE defense ratio) at the same time.

Full Draw
Seldom use it in high level maps. Most of the time use it to push monster into Cryomancer’s Frost Pillar to speed up dungeon clear speed.

Oblique Shot
A great skill when I was low level. Hit two mobs at the same time. Also great when you back to previous low level maps to do some acheveiment or quests. Just allcoate 1 point and it’s enough.

Swift Step
A great buff for C2 and C3 Archer due to the +25% crit rate attribute. Although this buff not affect me much due to I’m not playing a crit build. I allocate 61 CON, the rest all STR. I’m a Archer with super low DEX. Currently I’m waiting R8 skill information. If the R8 skills grant too high base damage, I may use Stat Reset Potion to get high DEX.

Kneeling Shot
Rarely use it, but still get it maxed. The additional damage while KSing directly increase both of your min and max attack with a certain value. The skill tooltip doesn’t show, but KS increased value is (SkillBaseValue + Character’s DEX) .

So, I was thinking. Allcoate high DEX > use Sapper’s Broom Trap> KS, then I’ll grant a high crit rate Broom Trap with good base damage. Well, just thinking. It works, but I can not give it a test because I’m full STR now.

Heavy Shot
Rarely use it in high level maps. But it’s useful while leveling due to HS grants extra 50% damage to Mutant enemies. Just allcoate 1 point and it’s enough.

Twin Arrows
I use TA while other skills are in CD.
Other skills in CD > 5 loads of TA > Cannoneer skills are ready > Multi Shot is ready > Sapper skills are ready > infinite loop.
A suitable skill for my build.

Sapper

Stake Stockades
Feels like put a magic circle on the ground, and the magic circle just looks like stockades. Attack ground units only. Enemies touch the “magic circle” it will recieve (100% of your main-hand basic damage + skill damage)*3. If a enemy go out of the “magic circle” and get in again, it will recieve damage again. There’s no hit limit of SS, but SS have HP. SS can be destoryed.

Combination:
I usually do it with my Cryomancer friend, I recommand use it in Frost Pillar (ensure mobs are frozen or SS will broken quickly). Just record it out from the Frost Pillar to show the mechanism. The Snow Rolling will deal crazy damage if you try this combination in Frost Pillar.

Conceal
I don’t know what’s this skill really doing… Can IMC remake it?

Claymore
It’s a good skill from mid-end to end game maps. Sapper lacks skills for airborne mobs. I use it after Broom Trap kills most of the ground unit. Make sure let Claymore hit airborne mobs as many as possible. Because Claymore grants more 50% damage from attribute. And, if you are using 2H-Bow, You get another 100% more damage from Archer attribute. This really helps me before I reach R7 Cannoneer. Claymore can not be used frequently at low character level due to material price. It won’t become affordable till you reach Lv 190.

Punji Stake
I think this skill is useless after buggy combination with SS is fixed.

Detonate Traps
Use it when….
1.Mobs use Safety Zone.
2.When you are farming or searching for World Boss, some Cryomancer will use Ice Wall to block other party from reaching Boss or farming. Get closer to Ice Wall, then BOOOOOOM. Let’s see who’s CD is longer.

Broom Trap
Best grinding skill ever! Although its single shot damage is much more lower than Elementalist’s Frost Cloud. But BT doesn’t have attack limit! BT can hit all mobs in its damage area. A great skill for Uphill mission, Storage, Workshop, Earth Tower and more!

Collar Bomb
It’s a melee skill with a small AoE. You have to run close to target mob and set it up.
The target mob will explode if it touch other enemy unit include Ice Wall from allies and Boss Traps.The explode range is the same size as a small magic circle.

Well, many players get C2 Sapper just for Broom Trap. But I have to say, sometimes, Collar Bomb can be more powerful than BT. And it’s for C3 Sapper ONLY.

First, I’m a C3 Sapper, so I can learn Lv 10 Collar Bomb.
Second, Collar Bomb deals extra 1 hit each time your level it up just like Multi Shot.
Third, Collar Bomb can hit both ground and airborne units.
Last, Collar Bomb doesn’t have a hit limit just like Broom Trap.

Combination:
I always do this combination with my buddies. You need a C3 Cyromancer. Enemies rolled by Snow Rolling will stack together under the Cyromancer, i.e. all enemies exactly stay in the tiny explosive range. You can deal massive damage as the GIF shown below.

One hit of my CB is about 2500. Lv 10 CB hit 10 times (with Divine Might it will be 11). So one mob recieve 25000 damage. There are about 20~30 mobs in the picture. That means I deal about 600k damage with ONE shot. That’s why I said sometimes CB is more powerful than BT.

Spike Shooter
I didn’t allocate it since last skill reset. The CD is too long and the cost is too high. Each arrow it fires can hit only one enemy. I don’t need a single target skill like it. But I heard that the arrow can penetrate enemies if enemies are affacted by Flaconer’s Circling. I don’t have circling so I haven’t done a test with it.
Also, I think there’s no necessary to use this skill after you reach R7.

Cannoneer

Cannon Shot
A nice performance AoE skill. Seldom uses auto-attack after learn it. My auto-attack = Cannon Shot or Twin Arrows. AoE attack ratio will affect Cannon Shot. Deals only half damage to airborne units.

Shoot Down
It’s a Cannon Shot with reversed style. AoE attack ratio will affect Shoot Down. Deals only half damage to ground units. With arrtibute, airborne mobs hit by SD will receive a debuff makes mobs can not move. This also works on Boss. A helpful skill while doing airborne Bosses. And during the debuff, airborne mobs recieve 100% damage from Cannon Shot instead of 50%.

Causion—Boss can still use moving skill during debuff.

Siege Burst
I just take one point for its knockdown ability. Knockdown ability is really helpful when doing Saalus Uphill Mission.

Cannon Blast
It’s an excellent skill, seldom uses Claymore after learn it. AoE attack ratio will affect Cannon Blast. Feels like using a Claymore without consuming material, casting and charging! A must-have skill of Cannoneer just like Sapper’s Broom Trap.

With attribute, there’s a 35% chance to REMOVE physical defense of mobs hit by Cannon Blast. Exactly the same effect as Peltasta’s Umbo Thrust.

Weapon Setting

I use 2H-bow and put a crossbow and a cannon in the bag.
When I use Cannoneer skills, the system will auto-swap to crossbow+cannon. After Cannoneer skills are performed, the system will auto-swap back to 2H-bow. I think it’s one of the most successful design in ToS.

2H-bow is the main role of my build. Because Sapper grants few skills that can angainst airborne mobs. So I need the attribute from Archer to deal with airborne unit. When you equip 2H-bow, you grant more 100% damage to airborne units. Not only auto-attack, but also R1-R6 skills (Cannon skills can not be used with 2H-bow). i.e. Multi Shot, Twin Arrows, Claymore, Collar Bomb… all of them can deal extra 100% damage to airborne units! Use Cannoneer’s Shoot Down then smash them all!

My 2H-bow is Superior Wreech Bow, a cheap and handy one.
At first, I want to use Kateen Blaster. But I can not find it anywhere.
SoI use Grajus instead. The mechanism is, Cannoneer skills can not be affect by the base damage from main-hand weapon. But the additonal ability can affect Cannoneer skills. That’s why I choose a low base damage crossbow with good additional ability.


Ending

Hope this topic can help some people are willing to try Sapper or Cannoneer. And, if you got some good advices for Sapper or Cannoneer. Please tell me. That’s my main purpose of this topic.


Gossip

Well…seems expansive gears are not necessary in ToS.
You just need few good buddies. And you guys rule all quests, missions and dungeons. It’s a nice design for leisure players like me IMO.

Conceal is for pvp so it useless in pve.
Punji used to be really powerful combo(glitch with SS circling pavise) in PvE, now this seem like more for pvp propose.

I haven’t thought of some trap combination with cryomancer, nice combo you show us.
