Remove - Chat box staying up after entering a message

After you press Enter to send a message through any form of chat, the text box will continue to stay open unless you press enter a second time.

Frequently throughout the beta, I would try and use a skill after sending a message to nearby people or my party members, only for it to not activate and realize that I was spamming my keybinds into the text box. I honestly don’t see the purpose of the chat box being kept open after a message has been sent. It will be very unoften that we will have to type multiple messages back to back, but very frequent that we have to click a keybind to use a skill after sending a message.

Adding a chat option to turn this feature on or off would also be sufficient.

EDIT: I used the “Mouse” controls option, where you can use both the WASD keys and the mouse to move your character. Other control types may not run into the same issue.

EDIT 2: The issue also occurs with the “Gamepad” controls option

I kinda like this idea.

Agreed. For an example, it was happening like this for me:

“Goodbye, nice partying with you guys”
“aaaaaaaaa”

Because I was tried to move immediately after I pressed enter.

I guess this is a keyboard problem? I used a controller most of the time, so I didn’t have to worry about entering skills in the chatbox or w/e

I would suggest chatting only when it’s quite safe around you tho. at least that’s what I did. I was either sitting somewhere or typing something in between monster spawns.

on the contrary, it’s pretty useful if you do tons of socializing. having to repeatedly press enter every time you wanna say something is annoying. you could be typing up a storm, but you’re actually just hitting a crapton of hotkeys and now you have a dozen different windows open because you didn’t press enter to chat

There was a old thread regarding this ^^, so I support this.

Sometimes a Blue would appear and I would have to quickly notify my party before someone else nabbed it, or accidentally killed it before we got an overkill on it. Times likes this, where you have to rush to type, make it especially difficult with the current chat system.

I’m a quick typer, so I can manage to type out a quick message and go right back to combat, even when a swarm of mobs is on me, but I’ve almost gotten killed several times for this same reason.

Didn’t Encounter any problem with chat, but this would also make abit annoying if you keep double enter when just talking at town to keep the chat up each time you send msg?

What control option did you use? Seems like people that used a controller didn’t encounter this issue, and I’m uncertain of the keyboard control scheme.

I don’t know about you, but I’m constantly moving around, even when I’m just chatting to people in town. I defiantly understand that this is a more social game than most others, so I think having the option to turn it on or off would be nice.

Not really, I used a controller and several times I found myself unable to move or do anything with the gamepad because the chatbox was left open.

IMO, It seems the most natural choice here to close the chatbox when you sent your message…

I second that. It was a annoying issue. Unless some people like that option, it should be a toggle option so it can benefit everyone.

I also played my gamepad and you have to use a keyboard to type. So it’s not only mouse/keyboard players.

I played with a controller and this was still kind of a problem for me… lol. I’d forget that I needed to manually make the text box go away so I’d type something, move on, go to use a skill with the ‘Y’ button or w/e, & think like “huh?? why won’t it work?!” before realizing my little typing bar was still up lmao.

I’d love for there to be an option that makes the type bar go away after hitting enter or for controller makes it go away when you press a button for a skill.
