Rapid Fire Cannoneer Build

I’ve seen people go for the standard machine gun build with musketeer ( Archer 3 -> QS 3 -> Musketeer) but I haven’t actually seen anyone do the same with a cannoneer. (Just swap the R7 from musketeer to cannoneer)

If such a build were used wouldn’t you get the best of both worlds? This way you can have both high dps on single target mobs and put on consistent aoe damage when more mobs group up. Sure you may not be doing as much single target damage as a musketeer due to the loss of their skills but I think the trade off is more than worth it.

Is there any reason why it isn’t being done?

Edit: This is all with respect to PVE.

Because musketeer has consistent AoE damage too?

Cannoneer’s cannon shot runs on a 5s cd while musketeer’s aoe skills have a 19 and 15s cd for penetrating shot and covering shot respectively. Not only that, cannoneer has a higher fixed damage component than covering fire. (lvl 1 cannon shot is roughly equivalent to lvl 10 covering fire. Purely based on skill description. Covering fire hits more times so the overall damage may be more but cooldown still wins out.). This is discounting the other 3 aoe skills that the cannoneer has which essentially means you can more or less aoe 24/7.

Please actually read the skill descriptions before blindly replying.

lol this guy

do you know what is aoe defense ratio

do you know what is Pass

do you know what is playing kTOS and not theorycrafting on tosbase all day

Haven’t play this game yet, but I’ve been playing the skill simulator on tosbase, on the rank 6, I would like to paly as a scout, which has cloaking abilty and when you use and hit a target the first time it ads some % to your skill/atk, then on rank 7 you get to choose wether a cannoneer or a musket, I saw 1 skill of musket, when you use, a tiny corsair will appear and everything on screen turns dark, like when you use rifle, that one has the damage, what’s in my head is when you use scouts cloaking and then use musket assassinations skill (dota reference, I forgot the skill name), are you still in cloak? or will it destroy the cloaking effects/additional dmg and just do the assination?(I’m really sorry haha). coz I think that build is sick, I’m really into PVPing

  1. Yes I do but I don’t have the values so I can’t figure out anything

  2. Nope

  3. No because I don’t have a SSN and I’d rather wait for the english version. I sadly haven’t been able to get into CBT so all I CAN do is theorycraft on tosbase with what is available.

I posted here looking for additional information. Even if I was ignorant of the mechanics I at least tried to substantiate my points with additional information instead of writing “it provides consistent damage too”.

If you’re as knowledgeable as you claim to be why not try to share your knowledge if you’re going to post instead of providing throwaway comments that don’t advance the discussion at all.

Start here. Once you understand AoE Defense Ratio, things might fall into place. Then get off tosbase and watch streams / youtube videos of high level dungeon players. You’ll learn more that way than starring at skill descriptions making up fairy tales.

Cannoneer is a viable class and indeed it has ok AoE, but making claims like “I think the trade off is more than worth it.” without any substantial knowledge of the game is stupid and you will get stupid replies accordingly.

I’ve read it which is why I even know about aoe ratios. I don’t think I saw anything about pass inside though. Even if I know what aoe ratios are I still can’t figure anything out if I don’t have the values. Can’t find them anywhere.

Watching streams is good and all but I’m asking build specific questions here regarding comparisons between musketeers and cannoneers. I can watch all the musketeer videos I want but it still isn’t going to tell me how it matches up to cannoneer’s aoe.

While my questions may seem stupid to you, an experienced player, I think the truly stupid thing to do would be to go on twitch and sift through the tons of streams/videos there hoping to find something that answers my question instead of going to the forum and asking there.

If threads like “If I buy the founder’s pack will I be able to download the game” can be tolerated and a sincere answer given, I think my questions are justified since its related to a build where no discussion is currently taking place. Just look at all the rate my build threads there are in every class section. Are you going to tell me you’re going to call each and every one of them out too? Its a new game, people don’t know anything. Asking questions, especially questions that haven’t been asked before is fair.

Well, Cannoneer has 2 AoE skills with a medium CD.

Musketeer also has 2 AoE skills with a medium CD + Snipe which can become one with AoE ratio buffs/debuffs.

It’s the same thing isn’t it?

I think people don’t pick Cannoneer as much with it because attack speed buffs + 5 sec CD abilities with long wind up times don’t exactly synergize very well. Musketeer has stronger skills, but with a longer CD, which suits the build better.

Actually doesn’t cannoneer have 2 aoe abilities with extremely short 5s cds? I was thinking more along the lines of using the atkspd buffs for bosses/tough monsters and aoe for the usual trash mobs.

Edit: But yeah you’re right about the long wind-up times and I can see how it can cause problems with your buffs. Thanks for the insight.

Oh yeah that’s right.

In any case, what you want to do is fine. Use one set of skills for one thing, and another for something else. But the Musket path uses every skill in synergy, and is much better in parties due to having Linkers.

Cannoneers would be a more versatile solo’er though.

Cannoneer uses xbow, Musketeer uses the rifle.
Normal attacks 'nough said.

Thanks

@chocalota00

Can’t you just swap back to bows for AAs though? Bows seem to have higher atk. Or do they fire much slower than muskets?

Let me make use of this to ask, is there any delay on swapping weapons? Would it cause any type of DPS loss?

In many of the videos ive watched, swapping seemed to have no notable delay.

Swapping to Grand gross xbow to buff and multishot will be important…i just wonder if end game xbows will carry the +2 qs skills as well. If they dont, non musket skill dmg (multishot) may fall off during the swap. This is an issue cannoneer does not have to worry about.

On a side note, how has quarrel shooter/musketeer been performing end game in things like earth tower? With the iTos nerf to ranger… it seems like qs is a better choice for our release(or maybe even wugushi)

I havnt seen any recent videos :frowning:

It works well, as long as you have sub-50 latency. Else you can’t auto attack as well as you should be able to.

Ranger should still be good for skill spam. It’s still +20% for 10s which is still a large amount and a Ranger/Musketeer can still spam most of their skills in that window.

It does carry to the current end-game. This is the only weapon like this that I know of ( other classes tend to only get one weapon if any, and no higher level weapon ). Seems there is Quarrel Shooter love.
